Hey all! For those who still remember me: guess what? I'm not dead! (that's the good news ) Looong time since I've last posted here on the AA boards. Bad me indeed, since I'm still so much in love with everything Atari but the time to follow everything or code something simply doesn't come by anymore. So, first of all I'd like to say sorry to the few of you who may still remember me and may have tried to get in touch (unsuccessfully). The best way to do so is probably to email me, my address is very simple: "firstname"."lastname"@gmail.com Secondly, I would like to thank everyone who still enjoys Space Treat (Deluxe), I've noticed it on HSC and it's really a honor! It's one of the best thing that could happen as a reward for my work. So, thank you all! Finally, I'll try to be more active in the future... I must say that the main event that prompted me to write this post was having met again with the Nolen today, who happen to be around here They're great folks (of course!) and surely seeing them sparked quite some of my best memories! I guess a pictorial report of our day will follow! I hope I'll find some of the old friends still around here... and sorry for maybe posting in the wrong forum. You know, I never learn Regards!! Dunno, but I can tell you I usually remove the band in order to make the aluminium strip more shiny Someone else might have been doing the same! Regards, Rasty.-

All the jr's I've got here in Europe have it, the only one I've got from the US doesn't.. but it wasn't new. Regards, Rasty.-

Yep, there's much more strategy in Dark Cavern than one would imagine at first look. I like, haven't played it in a while thou... the graphics are simple yet clean and flicker free, which is another good point in its favor! The slow pace could set someone off initally, but it's all part of the game Regards, Rasty.-

Hi all, I think I'm getting addicted to X2: The Threat! I unfortunately only have the demo version for now, but just ordered the full game (it's also pretty cheap by now). The wait makes me wish digital distribution was more popular... (yes, I happen to pretty much like the Steam concept!). Anyway, is there anyone who fell in love with this worthy Elite successor? I've done all the tutorials and am having some fun with the restricted universe from the demo version, just to improve a bit my skills in preparation for the full version A really immersive Space Sim I'm really happy I've been able to discover! (I usually don't follow much the PC games scene..) Regards! Rasty.-

Atari Announces Flashback 2.0
rasty replied to Jetboot Jack's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
Maybe I'm going too fast, but I wonder whether if/when it will be released in PAL countries the machine will be a PAL 2600 or it'll still be the NTSC one.. My money would be on the latter with a nice "60hz" warning on the box maybe Regards! Rasty.- -
I tought Reactor was a good conversion... Regards! Rasty.-

I'd add Jungle Hunt somewhere in the list..! Regards, Rasty.-

Chris, I've had a similar time as yours not being able to keep my Atari development going. Anyway the idea of having a nearly finished game helped me out resuming work on it, as it seems it's doing with you.. of course it must still be a fun process for you to do, because if you feel forced, then there's no reason to keep going! Regards! Rasty.-

And Happy Birthday to Zach as well!! Regards, Rasty.-

I'd suggest you click on the thumbnail! Regards, Rasty.-

Nintendo has a good record of fighting pirates... well, maybe they were right in the early 80s with the following annonuncement, but it sounds fun they're still protecting the same games! (sorry about the image quality, I don't have a scanner at home) Regards! Rasty.-

I wonder how this find could be called.. not actually "In the wild" for sure.. How about "Recursive find" or something like that? Regards, Rasty.-
-
Yeah but that doesn't actually work even on some real 2600's! You may want to try Galaxian: 7-sprites in a row! (and then Space Instigators too! ) Regards, Rasty.-

Ahh yes (do I sound really old if I start with "Ahh yes"?), Smurf Rescue on the Coleco was defilitely cartoon quality for me back in the day, and a real leap forward compared to the standards of the time. On the 2600, instead, it was probably Jungle Hunt: I was a fan of the arcade game (I remember winning a small local competition on the game, the prize being a few free credits at the local arcade ), and really impressed with the 2600 version. Not exactly blown away as with Smurf Rescue thou! Regards, Rasty.-

I own both but I must say I like the 2600 version better, it pushes the hardware of the little console and is really smooth to play. An yes, the graphics are simpler but more clear IMO. But I'd bet that if you start the same thread on the 7800 forum you'd get some different opinions Regards! Rasty.-

Ditto for me these days. I think the reason we could back in the day was because the whole concept and technology was so new. One of the reasons I still love the old games is because you can play a game in 15 min and have a great time. Try getting anywhere on Halo or Final Fantasy in the same time. The newer games are fun over HOURS of time, but there are long, boring segements where little is happening. In the older games, the action is usually frantic and consistent. Try being bored while playing Kaboom! It's impossible. I actually play MORE classic games as I get older, since my life responsibilities keep increasing. It's hard to squeeze in 4+ hours to make a dent in Doom 3, let's say, when I have a 60+ hour a week job. 20 minutes of Pac-Man is usually more fun, and easier to fit in. 835920[/snapback] I agree 100% with all of the above! The attention level that 2600 games required is higher by leaps and bounds compared to most today's games.. Plus I still happen to favour games with more action than thinking! (unless it's an adventure, where thinking is ok ) Regards! Rasty.-

"Nose art" sounds like real fun, Cassidy!! I bet someone will create a website about it sooner or later My cat is usually only sporadically interested in mouse movement. I think my redfish'd likely get more involved in videogames Regards! Rasty.-
