  1. I found a work around, so I'm good now, but I will still post those things you need to check it out. It was the bit depth. Photoshop refuses to save under 8, but I found an application called PNG Quantize, pngquant.exe. It has a small batch file and exe you can keep in your images folder. You make whatever you want in Photoshop and simply drag and drop it on the batch file and it will take the 8 bit PNG and make it a PNG with a 2 bit bitdepth. it is easy to find online. Let me know if you still want to png from photoshop, but I'm almost positive now that it was the bitdepth. Kinda sucky still that PS doesn't allow smaller bitdepth even under "save for device or web". PS does allow for everything else though; Indexed colors, custom Atari palette, number of colors, just nothing outside of 8 or 16 bit depth. Odd oversight.
  2. How can I attach them without effecting them? a working image merely opened and then saved in Photoshop as an indexed image will cease working. No changes to the image itself, but still doesn't work. I only have the option of 2,4,8,and 16 colors using "save for deivce or web" option. Saving normal indexed PNGs also doesn't work. I don't mind sharing them, I just don't know how to attach things on this forum.
  3. Thanks for recommendations. I will need to give it all a try later when I have time to work on it again. I definitely think it has something to do with the color palettes being saved. I can take a fresh image that works into photoshop and save it and it wont work. GIMP, oddly enough, gives you more control over the number of colors being saved, whihc kills me. Photoshop should give us more control being more expensive. Definitely fail on the part of Adobe.
  4. So, I've been using GIMP and it does work, but still a little perplexed why Photoshop PNGs aren't just as easily converted. Any help is welcome. I hate to have so many application serving the same purpose when just one should do. I use Photoshop for modern games since it has the ability to use Quixel and the like. Would like to consolidate these two application.
  5. Anybody got a good way to implement this method in photoshop? I followed it as closely as I could but not having success.
  6. Given that I use indexed color mode, proper color palette .act file providing from this website, and have tried saving as normal .png and saving .png with "saving to web or device", have used as little as a single color of the palette, what could I be doing wrong? I also tried GIMP and it is a mixed bag for me too. Any tips or if someone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatyly appreciated. I have had no trouble building with any of the pngs provided in the samples but making my own is the problem. Thanks in advance.
  7. Thanks for this! Exactly what I was needing. Tis going to save me so much time.
