  1.

Good point. The booking link has the hotel details but since you will not be booking:

Hilton Garden Inn Chicago North Shore/Evanston

1818 Maple Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, 60201, USA +1-847-475-6400

The meeting room is listed as "Salon C" and we have the room from 8am until 11pm Friday, November 9. Regarding the Friday pub meet, the event as of now is free-flow so attendees will be able to come and go pretty much at leisure.

The PayPal contribution pool can be found here: https://locu.li/CHIFriday

I completely forgot about the group page Hilton offers us. I will work on that over the next week. Look forward to having you there and we definitely appreciate any contribution to the pool.

    Thanks! Much appreciated.

    See you at CTI Friday.

  2. I will be driving down to Chicago (from Canada) on the Thursday and was wondering about the Friday event. I am willing to contribute for the conference room (on the PayPal pool) but I am not clear on which hotel it will be held in. Can someone please state clearly the Hotel name and address, plus the conference room name and the times the get together will take place.

I won't be staying at the hotel but as I will have my car with me, I'll be able to get there with little inconvenience.

I do want to attend the pre-Faire pub meal on Friday evening and hope this meal will be taken into account for the Friday event.

I do not have anything to contribute to the proceedings but am always interesting in learning something new...

I've been trying to find folks in the GTA who might want to form a small 21st century TI-users group. I posted something on Craigslist a few years ago, but to no avail. I don't do facebook, so not sure how else to find other TO TI'ers

If that sounds interesting to you, and if you might know other like minded old farts in the area, drop me a PM.

Would also be interested in making it an Ontario thing to include our Ottawa clan but being wheel-less would make it difficult to get together more than once or twice a year..

Haven't been a member of a users group since the early ST days of The Atari Federation!

Sure... not sure where we would meet but I am open to suggestions. I go to a small PC group gathering in Scarborough often but it is held in a closed location... not open to the general public. I also belong to another PC Users Group in Barrie, although because I play softball in the summer months, for me Barrie is a Sept to April thing. Maybe we can meet at a large coffee shop or MacDonalds? Or a meeting room in a library? I use to be the paper librarian for the Toronto 9T9 User Group and still have many binders of old User Group newsletters from Canada, the States, England and more. My plan for the future is to start learning to program in assembly language on the 99/4A. I also am interested in exploring Forth with Lee Stewart's fbForth. I picked up his Forth Cartridge at the last Chicago Faire.

PS I can probably send an email to the fellow in Woodbridge that has a TI-99, that I met at the World Of Commodore earlier this year.

  4. Lonely TI'er in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

I remember fondly the Ottawa TI Faires in Merivale High School. I met Terri Masters there, very friendly woman from LeHigh TI group in the U.S. (I think). I met a TI owner at the last "World Of Commodore" show (Mar 2017?) here in Toronto. He lives in Woodbridge. I have relatives in the Ottawa area (Winchester / Chesterville) and get out there once or twice a year.

  5. Yeah, but at the same time, casual visitors to AdamCon shouldn't expect any kind of sign in the lobby that promotes the convention. It's actually very low-key. You'll probably have to ask the front desk at the hotel.

Also, anyone who plans to attend needs to know that Friday July 21st will be the traditional "out" day, where the gang who paid full price for their attendance gets to go on a special outing for most of the day. So if you show up at the hotel during the morning or afternoon of July 21st, you probably won't see anyone involved with Adamcon. It's better to come on Saturday or Sunday.

So as a casual visitor, when is the best time to drop in? I was planning to go on the Saturday morning but I could switch that to Sunday morning if it were a better choice.

PS. I recently purchased an ADAM floppy drive on ebay... still have to verify if my ADAM system is running. I do not have a lot of software for the ADAM but there definitely is some curiousity there on my part. A fellow PC club member in my area has a copy of the system ROM disassembly document, which I have scanned to go through at a late date. Unfortunately some of the pages were copied incorrectly and half of the content of those pages are missing (perhaps 10-20 pages).

  6. I've booked my room already at Motel 6 about 10 miles away from the library (I'm a cheap miser). This will be my 3rd time... last year and once in the 80s with 6 or more other 9T9er (Toronto Users Group) members. We rented a Winnebago and used it for our accommodations too. I'm hoping that "arcadeshopper" will be there so I can come away with the FlashROM99. Lasted year I arrived late Friday night, so this year I'm driving down on Thursday.

Have to make a pitstop at Walmart to pick up my 6 month supply of dark chocolate peanut M & Ms. Can't get them in Canada!

Need to find out where the bar is for the Friday night get together...
