  2. Hi Guys You can put me on the list, I have a Falcon, 14meg/fpu rehoused in a old AT tower case running magic 6.1 and just installed freemint/xaaes , and still looking for the effiell keyboard/mouse adaptor
  3. Just wondered does centscreen work on a stock falcon running Magic 6.1?
  4. To be honest this topic was more of a 'what if' i mean if the Jag had lasted longer than its commercial life span, as I said in my original post, the snes, dreamcast even the ps2 and all consoles for that matter, you really don't see how good they are to say the 3rd or 4th generation of software, when the software companies really got to know how to program the machine. It was never a question about software released nowadays, there is alot of talented people out there working hard on some really great projects and I think every Jag supporter appreciates the time and effort that they spend keeping the Jag alive, and I wish I had put more effort in when I was younger to learn programming. No my topic was more to do with the commercial side of things, could the Jag have done better than IS2 or AVP etc and if so what games at that time do you think might have made it, and I don't mean the usually titles that were meant to come out and didn't appear. Thats what the original post was for, just to get your opinions on what the Jag might have produced if it had a longer shelf live, I don't know how it got into the 'heated discussion' lets say, about homebrew and who knows more.

  8. Hi All Anyone know were I can buy the Eiffel keyboard/mouse adaptor for a falcon in the uk or were I could send of for one.
  9. So I think we all agree we never saw the best of the Jag, what the Jag could really have done, so heres my second question, what do you thing the Jag would have been capable of, think of the games back then im interested in seeing what we have missed out on over the years.
  10. I was having a bit of a heated debate( nearly came to blows ) with a friend over the capabilites of the Jag, he got into gaming late around the launch of the PS2, and thinks everything before it was 'crap', anyway I was showing him my collection of games machines and computers trying to educate him on what real games he had missed over the last 25 years or so, and got me thinking did we ever see the best of the Jag, I mean forget about Ataris problems and them winding down the company etc, I just wondered what maybe a 3rd or 4th generation of software would have given us if say the Jag had lasted say 2 more years on the commercial stage than it did, AVP was class, DOOM was a brillant version on a £200 console when at the time you would have needed £1000 worth of PC to do the same thing, IS2 and Battlemorph were supurb but what else do you think the Jag would have been able to do. Everyone knows that all consoles have a period maybe 18months or 2 years after a consoles launch when the programmers really know how to get the best out of the machine, look at the snes, early titles didn't look much different than the nes, but look at some of the stuff RARE did nearly at the end of the snes's life and its like a totally different machine, same can be said for even the PS2 early titles for it were pretty similar to the original psx, low res low polygon count etc, compare PS2 titles now to the early ones and there is a big difference. So what do you guys think, for me sadly I don't think we ever saw what the Jag could have really done, especially with the CD add on.
  11. Thanks krupkaj, I think I have xboot somewhere i'll give it a go tomorrow
  12. Has anyone done a dual but, say mint and magic, and if so how hard is it and how did you go about doing it, I only ask as I run magic 6.1 at the moment but would like to run mint as well but not loose the use of magic, and even try something like linux even aswell.
  13. Hi Guys Just an update on mine, I got a brand new scsi 2 external cd/hard drive case of ebay for £5 and removed the scsi conncetors (only screwed onto the back plate) which had the standard ribbion cable attached to them. attached the usual scsi 2 cable to the falcon and then to the connectors and put a term'tr on the spare input and it works like a dream, and its all hid inside the tower case
  14. Thanks for the rely ill check out sparemint. cheers
  15. Hi Thinking about installing Mint on my Falcon, never done it before, can anyone direct me in the right direction eg: what do I need, is it easy to setup etc, thanks in advance for your help

  17. Hi guys After failing to get an ide cdrom to work with my falcon (now in a old pc tower case), I picked up a brand new scsi 2 internal cd rom for £6. just need to know what type of cable I need to attach it to my Falcons scsi connector???. There seems to be many many types of cable and I am unsure which one to get. Hope someone can help
  18. Merry Christmas to all Atari Fans have a good one !!!!!
  19. Hi Just a quick up date, still no positive news to my request to the bitmap brother on the source for the Choas Engine. To be honest reading some of their old news stories it looks as if they sold the rights for it and some other their older classics to a company that produces GBA games, this company has already released Gods and Speedball2. Looks like another one of my dreams gone , I have emailed them tonight again, so hears hoping.
  20. I've been hassling the Bitmap brothers for the last couple of weeks to see if can get the source for Chaos Engine, I loved that game back in '93 on the ST, and have been playing it recently on the GP32, ST emulator, I thought it would be a great game on the jag, the graphics are really good. I'm still waiting to here back from someone, at the moment they keep directing me to image copys of the games, but I'll keep at them. I am also trying to find a contact address for the team who did 'Carrier Command' it was one of my other fav' ST games, I'll let you know is I have any luck.
  21. Hello To all Jag programmers out there, how hard would it be to port over an ST?amgia game to the Jag if I can get the source code for it. Now before anyone starts about not wanting 16bit games on the Jag and only wanting 64bit games, think about it first, there were hundreds of great games on the ST in its day, if it was possible they could be released maybe on cd, even cd images free to download and burn. Let me know what you think.
  22. Hi LanDi I don't think the memory would be that big a problem, elite itself was around on the 8bit systems, and even elite 2 frontiers I spent many an hour in front of my 1 meg stfm playing that, amazed at how they fitted such a huge game that spanned solar systems onto a 1meg machine (and it came on 2 floppy disk, and I never manged to see what was on the second disk ) and if i remember right the source for the 'new kind' is based on the original pc version which was pretty low spec compared to nowadays pc's. To be honest im not a programmer so im just guessing, but I thought it would be good to have something a bit different in the jag collection. But hay ho
  23. Hello All Just wondered after reading with interest some of the threads about new games or porting over games from other systems, I just wondered if any one has heard of 'Elite the New Kind', I thought this would make a great jag game, its like a Elite+, and I know the source code is out there, as I have a port of it on the gp32, but i have seen it on the gba and DC, just wondered if some talented jag programmer out there would have a go at porting it over to the jaggy. Its a really good game with alot of depth to it. Anyway just a thought.
