I mean I guess it could in theory be possible. DO some kind of firmware upgrade to tap into the communication through USB-C with the dock. Have the dock then have whatever added oomph you want with it (more RAM for video, audio, general, etc) or some other additions yet like PS4Pro, require games to work on both, just scaled down to the stock unit.
-
That's an interesting idea there with the docks, not sure they'd do it as you'd probably need to add more to the dock to get away with it and that seems beyond their will. I could see 5 years away a Switch sequel that did 4K and the handheld would do 1080p or nicer if it goes over even a 1/3 as well as the Wii or DS did.
-
I think they have some basic interest in it still unless Nintendo likes to troll fans. NintendoLand had a mini game based on F-Zero. You held the tablet pad longways and I think you steered it around some overhead course.
-
If you're not already in line now they're probably accounted for and will be online within 10min to an hour of purchase.
-
Well fair enough. I don't agree but that's fine. I don't think they treat people well there for sheer entertainment value which isn't right either which is why I called it out. He may have been new there, but any light effort using google would have showed he has trust elsewhere and done other work before that wasn't pure garbage. The whole situation was a shame.

True enough some people are sensitive more to things than others, and a select few would fall into a level of hyper sensitivity to one thing or another, maybe input lag, or perhaps a game like DOOM or Quake would make them want to vomit. You just never know.
That's not a bad review DF did there. I really hadn't noticed the audio on the DPCM was off, but it's not glaring either so it's not a huge problem. I've seen clips of games that use it a lot like Gauntlet II on a busted open hakchi2 cracked system and all those vocals and sfx sound right to me but perhaps a side by side would show otherwise.

I got very lucky today on an off chance being a county over and walking into a flea market today. Found for $5 an original SNES controller in pretty much great shape. But that's not really the wow.
Free Dreamcast games. They were fairly well abused and uncertain to work. I've known the guy running the indoor spot for years, he was surprised he had any as Dreamcast games are prone to death over little marks as he put it. He let me have the 6 I found! Of them 1 (surfing game) was a total goner (as was the top part of the clamshell.) The other 5 working for a good hour using a Novus 1, 2 and 3 level bottle kit I was able to using a microfiber cloth hand resurface much of the wear away. Quite a few curving scratches, scuffs, odd lines and things. Now all (but 1 I did it to) are working it appears. At least I could boot them and play a stage/course or so into them. The resurfacing now has caused a very find plethora of circular/curved microscuffs, but got out the bad stuff...fair trade off to me for freebies.
Ended up with Bang Gunship Elite, San Francisco Rush 2049, Maximum Pool(the clean disc), Hydro Thunder(AllStars), and Army Men Sarge's Heroes. Plan to keep the first three, the other two one is a copy(HT) and the other not a fan of the series. Probably going to stuff em up on ebay or whatever to get my $5 back for the controller.

Erm what? Just because that site has some close minded people who think posts need to be the size of twitter bites isn't my problem. They want to bitch let them. You're fucking hilarious if you think any of that in the least bit is wrong or especially crying. Like some forum trolls are going to make me cry, get over yourself.
The treatment he received over there was pure garbage, even quite a few members called it out as such.
I went into meltdown as you put it after repeated whiny posts and insulting little short handed barbs at any post I made that was over a sentence or two long. I'm not sorry if that bothers or offends anyone, they're not forced to read it if they don't wish, nor do they need to be complete cunts with snotty replies either. I haven't lied about anything at all. That site while having some nice people and is a good resource also 100% deserves the reputation it created. Also is being the NG Defense Force really? I just felt sorry for his rotten treatment and gave an observation, the second one you quoted is just a reply back since I agreed I'm not going to change to appease ego. Perhaps link the thread where he was tossed out and various members not being cool with it.
I just went over and saw it was brought up too, can't say I'm surprised in the least bit.

I agree SML has an amazing soundtrack, just thinking about it I can hear various courses pop into my head right now as they're catchy. The only flaw was they really when ghetto on the visual detail but it was a launch title, and well it's short if that bothers you. It still takes like 45min to clear the game so that's not really a bad thing as it's meant to be portable and each loop inches the challenge up a little.
I do agree also that I really wish they'd resurrect Wart. Perhaps some cracked out story where Koopa uses like a Magikoopa to screw with Mario's head and bring his nightmares to life sucking the lands and enemies of SMB2 into real time. Wart and Koopa collaborating to crush his dreams and bag a princess and land for their own. You'd get a screwball mix of what was SMB2 (the unique bosses, snifits, ninjis, birdo, phanto door locks, etc) and then like SMB3/World type stuff they've continually reused since. I know it won't happen as they're not bright enough to tap into such an obvious resource but it would be fantastic.

There's yet another Wipeout remake coming to PS4 later this year. I'll get it, of course, and you should too.
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/12/03/wipeout-omega-collection-revealed-for-ps4/
It would be nice to see a similar F-Zero remix on the Switch.
Yeah I would too, but you know there are 2 F-Zero/Wipeout style Switch tites coming, one from Shinen known for an already excellent F-Zero wannabe people were liking on the WiiU or Wii because Nintendo flaked out.

They really have set the bar here. Either they're shady as all get out, or they're really big idiots when it comes to PR throwing what they have out there, then stuffing their fingers in the ears and going NANANA when people ask basic honest questions.

If mailing goes as it says it will on the website for the USPS I should have SS3+marquee and Bust-A-Move Again too. Now to decide which goes in Slot 1 and then Slot 2.

I'd love to have that Super Dodgeball game a couple posts up, but it's so damned annoyingly expensive loose, a kit probably would make me sick with a quoted price.

I agree not a fan of Walmart either, but I will go when something is just there more or less or the have some insane sale. Back when Diablo3 and its addon package boxes were $40 they did a Black Friday sale for $15 and I was there (2 years ago.) Was it someone in this thread that said they maybe looking at re-releasing pac-man with the proper better screen/emulation setup along with Asteroids and perhaps another?
Isn't it true one of the enemies in Q-Bert you can hop on and not die? I swear I remember it, just don't know which color/type it was as I know it's not the red ball or the snake. I do agree gameplay wise and just overall package QBert is the better one, if anything because they didn't go with the Famicom version of Centipede (we only got Millipede) and the 4way stick when 8 was easily possible. I'm ready for any 5 and 6 that pop up if I'm a fan at all of the games they're based upon.

Agreed, you can win but it's hard. It takes ignoring the outcome on the site, calling the phone (not the given with a code on their website, but direct) and usually get some crap call center. Get obtuse with them and go in circles like they love to do if they don't just get really helpful fast. You'll end up with someone back in the US and you show what's up, show your perfect(former) record, make them read all the mails, the actual auction, and see your pictures. Then ask them what do you think I could have done more than this when someone clearly appears to be trying to blackmail money or get out of a purchase?
I've had to do this about once or twice a year for the last couple years and i've won it every time.
I don't write much on my posts. I put in the title - Game Only, - Game & Manual Only, -Game + Dual Sleeve/Case, etc up there. I then explain in the little write up Up for auction is this...game/accessory/etc and it is for the XXX (ie: SNES Super NES Super NIntendo)<- I do this to catch anyone being lazy in their searches) After that usually I may write one bait sentence about something cool about the game.
Then it goes right into condition, and i put flatly -- please see the images to know what to exactly what you're getting in the mail. IF there is something of note to call out (label issue, scuffs even albeit minor on a disc) I note them. I'd rather scare off an uptight collectard and also shut down the wannabe illiterate scammer doing that.
After, I just close it with -- This will ship in a bubble bag (box, small box, USPS Small Flat Rate) to the winner, Thanks.
That's it. Hasn't failed me yet. But I 100% block every single country both with the nation selector *and* I block (manually since the dicks won't save it) the Global Mailing shipping scam they do too. Unless it's an odd box I only use a flat shipping fee of $3 or $4 in the first class level up to 15oz.
If someone tries crap, also I'd keep any images of whatever you sold until it's too late for them to pull some paypal whinefest to get it back that way if they want to lie and say X, you can show the images. If it's something of value, take a few more you DO NOT list, so if the jerks do something like send back a crappier copy you can show tells in the image they did a bait n switch to steal your property. I've gone that route before on a like new (not a mark on it) Metroid Prime 3 some jerk tried to rip me off over the amount of like $15. I told the guy I took high res images of the disc and have the bar code/ring codes from the disc, so if he wants to say I sent him a scratched disc that won't play passed the metroid hatchery area(which I knew it would I did play it that far and then some) feel free. Dude backed off and never wrote back.

That and under a certain size you really can't see a difference in 720p and 1080p but it's a good bit larger than the 6.? diagonal of this thing. I can't recall maybe it was somewhere around 40" diagonal it becomes evident. Much like for most a 4K TV is pointless unless you get into some huge monster. The Shield tablet does run at that level though with an 8" 1920x1200 283PPI screen while the Switch is 6.2" and 720p so perhaps that drop in nearly 2 inches just doesn't justify around also just keeping costs down. The system is capable of the 1080p on a TV and the chipset (Tegra) can do 4K as well on other (maybe this too with firmware upgrade?) devices too.

Agreed I recall the original 2 being rare on the shelf when I'd be places, but they're more present now, but when I picked up the 2 there were just 2 left of each.

Well I looked through the manual and didn't see any required specs for a TV. I am curious as to what TV you have.
Sure I can verify 2 different TVs it will work on, both LED TVs.
Vizio 29" E291-A1 TV from 2012 with a 25ms input lag (displaylag.com)
And currently using Samsung 32" UN32EH4003 which has a 26ms input lag
On both of these I have no problems with mario, tyson, or when I had a PS2(mini) going uptight stuff like Gradius 3/4 and 5, or the music game Gitaroo Man.
This site has a nice index of TVs that work great for gaming needs, I used it to buy the top one, the second I inherited from my grandma and lucked out.

Sad that $90 looks like a deal. Someone I saw locally was selling one for like $100 I think, it was loaded with a full ROM set to it already but listed as otherwise new after flashing the data to the unit.
-
X added some very nice moves, perhaps better than the Gamecube/Arcade release but that had some insane variety I really loved (not the awful overkill story mode though.) Ultimately I still like the original the best even if it is the most bare bones on the console side. I never owned it until later into the life of the system (same with Pilotwings) but it just gets me in a groove with the tight handling and music too.
Throwing a monkey wrench into this for fun -- F-Zero Climax is an amazing game we ignorantly got shafted out of as it's a great blend of the SNES and N64 game (including the track editor/maker and you can save 20! to the game pak.)
-
The point is, it does matter, not all TVs are alike. I don't suffer the lag, and you in fact do, so I guess everyone's mileage will vary depending on their setup. I can create the lag easy enough. I just have to disable Game Mode and the few other processing features aside that get left on that I have flipped off. Then the games can get pretty unplayable. I'm not discounting your experience, just that it's not a blanket situation for everyone.

Still maybe the concern here since he was brought up in here enough times would be that with that menu on the retroblox, at random occasions kind of like the Toasty guy on Mortal Kombat, MK will pop out and gleefully yell Chameleon! and temporarily the retroblox logo will get replaced while he's up.

I'd pay $80 but it would be an exceptionally rare situation. I guess I'm in the wrong but I have little respect for burns/roms on a card. I fall back on those though when it comes to a choice of having to mod a device (that won't read another regions discs) or scalping filth have made games prohibitively expensive. I've paid back in the later 90s around $75-80 shipped for an immaculate complete in box Macross Scrambled Valkyrie for the Super Famicom and never regretted it as I played the hell out of that game. I put up similar money for Dracula X PCECD in the later 90s too. Usually though and really with the increasing scalping in the last 6 years I've set a hard figure I rarely violate which is to not pay higher than the original retail price for a used game (if it's a cartridge game, the game alone will do) but if it's a thin game card (SD card sized or less) or anything optical media it's complete or screw it. Cards are too easy to misplace and odds are a complete game won't have a crap disc as someone showed some level of care not to mangle the casing.
That three pack of NGDev neo-geo to Dreamcast games there I'd pay the $80 for the 3 to be shipped to me from Europe, no questions or concerned asked as I've seen enough to know I'd use and reuse those games until finished or burned out on them. Yet I will not play some punk on ebay making copies or selling legit versions of it the usual $50 they seem to fly for individually.

I recall the PS2 being griped about not being easy to code for as the others (GC and XBOX) probably due to that custom 'emotion engine' chip of theirs.

Well truth be told it really is and isn't a reskin. Ever read up on the fairly recent history about the game discussed by Miyamoto himself? The skinny of it is that SMB2 (SMB USA to them) was already under development just not as a Mario game at first but a blank slate prototype for mechanics. The general designs of pick up and throw, picking a character, having vertical and horizontal shaft style stages and some general concept of stage layouts and characters has been started. Then that company came along and wanted to co-op with Nintendo for an advertising thing for their mascot and Nintendo picked up the bones of SMB2 and made it into Doki Doki Panic. In a way it always was a Mario game, so the bad wrap it got for a good 20 years online for being a fraud isn't entirely justified. In a way Mario got reskinned with Doki Doki Panic, then got its intended original concept fleshed out further into SMB2 we got and later them as SMUSA. That's why in part that sketchy FDS minor visual upgrade got called SMB2 and not perhaps just Super Mario (as the subtitle on the packing goes) for Super Players as like an expansion pack of the original. This was found out around 5 years ago now, and after that time when pressed further Miyamoto admitted that SMB2(USA) is his favorite Mario game which I think many probably found odd, but it did in fact lay the groundwork for quite a few of the later games.

Nintendo Classic Mini announced
in Classic Console Discussion

I'd take another to hack it, but that's greedy for now with so many who can't get one. My attitude would change though in person if I saw one on a shelf but not going to milk it online. Yeah I could bust open what I have, but it was a early Christmas gift and two if i did break it I'd be screwed with a brick.
