Try here: http://www.memoryten.com/p/1C2F14-80/ I just bought 4 sticks of these last week for my STe and installed them last night. They work like a charm (and are cheap).

It appears that this is a baud rate enhancement Mod. it basically uses a shift register to double the standard baud rate of the ST serial port. I think it requires the use of a CPX module to take advantage of it. There were several versions of this kind of mod and I am not sure which one this is. I have instructions for a couple of these and it doesn't quite match. *EDIT* After some more research, it appears this might be a factory fix of some kind for this revision of the STE. This thread shows this chip on the Atari STE schematics yet there isn't a place for it on the motherboard. So this may have been added to later motherboard revisions: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f...506&p=21537 Most definitely done in the factory. Just received a stock STe a few days ago and after opening it, it had the same leads. Curious what it fixed, if anything.

It's great to see this! Always love your updates. One question I've always had (and perhaps this isn't the right place for this), will there ever be some way to more fine tune the tempo of songs? Right now songs usually run between 05 and 09 speed. Anything higher than that is just really fast. This only gives us about 5 real world tempo's to choose from. I realize it's based on the clock rate, but will we ever be able to match specific BPM more exactly? Or am I missing something?

DUAL "POKEY" SOUND CHIP STEREO UPGRADE BOARDS
vitaflo replied to MEtalGuy66's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Would love it if this were available. I'd be first on board to buy one. -
I'm probably in the minority here but I would say no. This is coming from a game freak who has basically every console ever made. It's not that the Wii isn't good, it's just that once you get past the "oooo, shiny!", there isn't much really there. I love the new control scheme, but it's not always used to best effect, and many times is used when it really shouldn't be just because it's available and devs feel they have to use it. I still think the best game for it is Wii Sports Bowling, and that comes with the system. It's awesome if you have parties at your house a lot, otherwise, the excitement tends to wear off rather quickly. Then again, I'm not overly impressed with any of the consoles this time around. The DS is better than all of them, IMO.

Implementation of Pokey 2-tone-filter in emulation?
vitaflo replied to analmux's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
From what I remember is if the sums of the volumes on all channels is over 32 you get overmodulation. Above 32 you actually tend to lose volume and get buzzing. I don't remember anything about a single channel volume limit, just the sum total. -
Freddie version used the box on the left, if I recall correctly. Not sure if that box was used for non-freedie versions though as well. As for keyboards, most people consider the best keyboard to be the one with Control in a white box (black text) and the "O" to be elongated (not circular).

And samples from Gorf as well. In fact, this particular clip sounds like something from Gorf.

Now that I'm able to test this, I'm seeing this is true. If you do: SOUND 0,248,2,10 This is a multiple of 31. You may get nothing, or you may get a pure tone. If you poke into 53775 as you show above a couple times you'll be able to flip back and forth between silence or a tone. What's interesting is the tone isn't distorted even though it's 5-bit poly. The same seems true for 4-bit poly's with Pitch+1 at multiples of 15. If you do: SOUND 0,179,12,10 You either get nothing, or a pop. Poking 53775 again will flip between these two. Also interesting that it's just a pop. This is very cool stuff, and makes Pokey make a lot more sense of why it sounds certain ways.

This is pretty sweet, but I have two questions. Wouldn't that be 15 and 114 have a common prime factor of 3? I'm assuming this is a typo otherwise I'm pretty confused. Is this true? Why wouldn't Pitch+1 at multiples of 31 also be unstable? Pretty damn good write up though I'll say that. Gonna play with this when I get home.

I guess I jumped the gun a bit, and I seem to have pinpointed what is wrong, or at least where things go wrong. I've tried this on two machines, a G4 Powerbook (with Tiger) and a G4 desktop (with Panther). Both have the lates SDL library. The powerbook res is 1280x854 and the desktop is 800x600. Same issues on both. What I figured out is that in the end it actually does set the prefs correctly and will work, but every time you change a video pref from the tab menu, the emu will just continually go in and out of res switching until you somehow quit the program. On subsiquent launches however, things load up however you set them and work fine. So it seems there is something wrong with the GUI and changing the video prefs it seems. At this point I've taken to just changing the prefs file itself in a text editor to make any changes and get things the way I want, so i don't have to deal with the res switching and lock ups. Now that I have it set the way I want it works as intended. I've only tried the video prefs so far however, so we'll see if it's only related to that or the other prefs as well. The "other" issues I had where not with 2.0, I was reverting back to 1.4 to test some stuff and had a few issues and mistaked the problems I had with that version with the 2.0 version. The main issue I had with the 2.01 version is changing the video prefs via the GUI like I described. Hopefully that's a bit clearer now.

I hate to bump this thread, but I'm having quite a few problems with Stella 2.01 on OS X. Mainly the issue is full screen mode. It simply refuses to work correctly. What I want to do is use OpenGL fullscreen and stretch the img to my desktop res. I have all the right boxes checked, but it still seems to chage the res of my monitor when I do this. In some instances it just goes back and forth between my normal res and the reduced res, it never goes to the game, the monitor just keeps switching. Sometimes I can quit this, other times it locks up on me. Anyone have an idea here? All I want is to strech fullscreen at my normal res.

What kind of condition is the 7800 in? Any pics? If it's fairly good condition, I'll probably grab it.
