I will now buy more older computers like the NeXT computer and Apple G3 monitor for my G3 tower but I ran out of room for old computers as well so.... damn. Only other thing is im fixing the back yard with plants and a Garden Oasis Screen House tent and cheap laptop to do work out side. Wish I could keep my games and stuff out there too.

NES expansion slot - was it used for anything?
Draikar replied to Mental Vortex's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Mental Vortex, Expansion slot at the bottom of the NES was never used for anything. there was idea's but never anything real like a disk drive or maybe like the Japan SNES famicom SATELLITE add-on thing. One Thing that got into proto stage was a stupid gambling devices system that connected to the phone line I think or what ever crap. I don't even think classic gamers made it work for any home brew devices so it never was used so fare... (As with the one on the US SNES I guess ? ) -
Sale the system on ebay as untested, then buy another one that works. (sorry thats a sick joke)

The rotten shelves were in the basement that flooded a few times, It looked ok but from the move out of the basement may have made the shelves more weak too. I have new shelves now made of metal.

A few years ago I got my Sega DreamCast, it was placed on a old shelf that had rotted and finally collapse a few days latter. My DreamCast was on the top shelf and had hit the side wall that was brick and floor kinda hard that it knocked out the power or reset button, I popped the button in and hooked the system back up. The system ran ok and played the CDs I had, anyway I put it on a better self and it sat there for about another year. I finally got some more games and tryed it out again. But this time I noticed a noise like a old disk drive noise, and games seem to run slow in the loading time. I think it did this before but with the fall it had I keep thinking maybe its doing it from that but I kinda remember it doing that when I first got it. I asked some one and they said some DreamCast systems are well known for that noise and the loading time was normal. Anyway I was thinking of this again now another year latter and I need to know, system was made in june 2000 and some say older ones make more noises I think. Am I paranoid ? I had a Nindendo GameCube drop but on a soft rug and only a foot from the ground, I keep thinking it was doing the same thing too but when I had it looked at the guy looked at me like I was crazy...

Atari Flashback 2.0 now listed @ Gamestop...
Draikar replied to TrekkiELO's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
This Flashback 2.0 seems good but I said it before and will say it again, make it have a card port thing like e-reader game boy thing had or Sega master system card port. Sell the system for $20.00 and games the size of a card at $5.00 - $7.00.. You get the feel of a real system and for kids its a great starter system and parents that cant buy a new PS2 or worried about inappropriate games. -
Atari Flashback 2.0 now listed @ Gamestop...
Draikar replied to TrekkiELO's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
It's basically what it sounds like... a clone of NES-type hardware on a chip. So in a nutshell, the Flashback 1 could've played Megaman 2 along with the Atari games they programmed in there if they wanted it to Speaking of which.. I'm not a nitpicker. I got the Flashback 1 sheerly for the heck of it. I haven't opened it yet, but oh well... I just wanted it. I'll be snagging this Flashback 2 as well, but I just may have to open that one based upon what's been said here clone = cheap. why atari why ? after many years they come to this... -
Atari Flashback 2.0 now listed @ Gamestop...
Draikar replied to TrekkiELO's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
It is used on all pirated "Famiclone" consoles, like the power joy, mega joy 3 are the most popular. However they did make strange ones like a company made a PSOne lookalike and when you opened the lid, it was a famiclone. Its exactly what it is, a NES on a chip, and no, not affiliated with Nintendo in any way. Sounds illegal and cheap. Just no imagination, only a clone chip famicom thing ! -
Atari Flashback 2.0 now listed @ Gamestop...

I have to as a stupid question but what is the NES on a chip thing ? Is it a chip made by Nintendo to run the atari flashback 1 ? -

I want to know what this thing will look like ? And its still hard for me to think it will have Homebrew games... If there are Homebrews on it then are the Homebrews officially not Homebrews anymore and will they now be officially Atari games ? -
I know Businesses weren't Atari's largest market but they did try like hell in some of there later computers with adds that looked kinda cool. From there adds Atari seem to do what IBM did but easier...? On a side note did many Atari XEGS sell or made ? Seems there are not many on ebay and the few that are don't get a lot of bids. (You got to love the color of the system, so 80's.)
-
You are, of course, wrong. The XEGS is a repackaged Atari 65XE, marketed as a game system. It can run almost all XL/XE software right out of the box. Yea maybe it is a repackaged Atari 65XE, but how many got the Atari XEGS to run on disk drives / printers / monitors ? You ever see stores or banks with a Atari XEGS ? Atari XEGS is like the "red headed step Step daughter", no one loves it and you can destroy it since no one like the XEGS.
-
In Indiana there was no Atari games/computers/systems, only The Atari XEGS SYSTEM in a Toys R' US and they did not sell that system long or advertised them. Only way to buy Atari games was the disks for the computers and they were advertised as C64 games with the back side Atari compatible on a few.

lol, I can see it now! Mario walks into this gorgeously rendered public restroom, and you move him over to one of the stall doors, he opens it, walks inside, closes the door behind and we hear: "mama mia!" Next thing you know, the game's making a fanfare just like it did in SM64 when you got a star......except that's not a star he's holding aloft....is it? That would be cool, I can see it in my mind now ! mama mia I would also like too see a more SMW/SMB3 game. Is that new Nintendo DS have a game like that called Super Mario DS ? (not Super Mario 64 DS that also looks fun) ?

Let's talk about Super Mario Bros 2
Draikar replied to figgler's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Super Mario 2 is not the same as Doki Doki Panic, as my sh*t poor mind thinks back in mario you could change the person you played after a few lifes but Doki Doki Panic you had to stick this the one you picked or start all over or something like that. I have the two games but I hate hooking up systems and I don't like to wear out my Famicom drive belt AND i hate the loading sound it makes almost like my dream cast makes (but a dream cast is easy to replace). -
All I know is WOLFENSTEIN for Commodore 64 was WAY better then Apple and Atari in colors. As too Atari XEGS well, it just used old games from past Atari systems. Seems some of the most marketed game was in Atari's 2600 line up game run of games. Only real Atari XEGS made games kinda sucked (fun but not for long) and the other games of that time came out on Atari 7800 / Nintendo as well... It was just stupid to put out the Atari XEGS with Atari 7800 and at one time a Atari's 2600 Jr. Just seemed simpler to buy a C64 or NES... Atari XEGS WAS A DAMN GAME SYSTEM, please don't tell me its a computer. 80% of buyers got it thinking it was a game system with computer technology. Back then game systems and computers were not the same or the idea at the time (WHEN YOU SAID COMPUTER YOU THINK OF BETTER GRAPHICS). All it was was a Atari game system with a keyboard and a diskdrive port and could not play Atari 2600/7800 game carts ! I do love the Atari XEGS, it was my first Atari, but when I got it Stores stops selling all atari stuff after so what do you do with a system with no games but bug hunt (you buy nintendo)

tech demo's of Mario never seem to have the same name. I like how they did it before... Mario 1,2,3 and in Japan it's called mario 4 {mario world (snes)} (don't know there codename). Tech demo or not i still hate the name "mario sunshine" for gamecube... ANYWAY demo's are given code names so mario 128 or 128 Marios could end up with a name like "super mario sh*t hunt" or what ever stupid name like mario sunshine 2...

I seen people sell clear body cases for the first PlayStation, just take the inside of your old gray PlayStation and put it into a new clear case... So why not one for Atari ?
-
I seen here and another Atari page selling Clear Cartridges of new Atari 2600 games but what about producing clear Atari 2600 Body cases to drop an extra Atari in for a cool new look.
-
I'm not very happy with Mario, Mario Sunshine did not have the great camera angels and camera moment angels Mario 64 had like in Mario 64 you could play looking thru Mario's eyes and move the camera all around mario near and far but Mario Sunshine you could not play in some camera shots and there seem to be glitches with the camera shot like rolling into some walls or no camera shot and at times Mario seemed too small. Mario Sunshine had just a little better graphics ( i guess ) but a lot less game play movement then Mario 64. I like game play movement better then graphics but again I loves the Mario 64 graphics so since Mario Sunshine Im less a Nintendo fan. Mario 128 looks like a proto game way far from done.... And a long time from being released... To be honest Im not happy with GameCube, I have not tried Luigi's Mansion or Wario World yet......

madmjennifer "I've been documenting the numbers, as well as their method of application (stamped or printed), on the back of NES carts in an attempt to find some pattern but no luck so far." For real ? I tried that but there are many variable that deal with labels and country's the cart was made in I think its a factory stamp and not a real time code to the date made but a mix of date, factory, country and yes variations of text / color.
-
Is METROID Yellow Label more rare and did some have a 'red bar' late release ? I found variations are no more rare then others but as a personal rule when I buy older NES games from the first years run I buy the ones without the plastic tabs on top and old "Seal of quality" label...
