Thank you, both. I learn something new every time. It's always great to learn something new. Trying to hack Atari's Asteroids into Asteroids Deluxe would be like trying to hack Atari's Berzerk into Frenzy; not easy.

I hope I didn't offend you, SpiceWare. This was nothing against Space Rocks. Don't get me wrong, we love that game. I was just trying to see if it was possible to hack the official 2600 Asteroids into Asteroids Deluxe, because the Flashback 2 ROMs are impossibly hard to find, so we were trying to replicate that version. Since Space Rocks is much better, the FB2 version is now obsolete, and there's little interest in that version anymore. Space Rocks is the best. Yes, I know that the arcade version was blue. It's just that the FB2 and 7800 versions were green for some reason.

Ship sprites have been tweaked. Asteroids Deluxe(2).zip

I don't want this to be forgotten. I changed the files in the files in the first post.

Just to let everyone know that I'm not forcing anyone.

A friend of mine used Bithacker to change the sprites of Feralstorm's Asteroids Arcade hack to resemble Asteroids Deluxe, however, neither me or my friend have much experience programming, and we'd really appreciate anyone who's kind enough to finish this game for us. We're trying to bring Asteroids Deluxe to the 2600 in the old style. Using only 8K. Here's the to-do list: -Make killer satellites function properly. Doesn't have to look too fancy. -Modify the title screen. -Alter the shoot sound. -Change the sprites from white to bright green. It would be similar to the Flashback 2 version, but a little better. Would anyone care to finish it for us? Please? Asteroids Deluxe(1).zip

Also, does anyone remember the Flashback 2 version of Asteroids Deluxe?
-
This game is really good. But I wonder if this is the release candidate?
-
I know that the games I listed are homebrews, not games released back in the day.

The 5200 version of Asteroids was going to be a launch title, but it was never released, for controller reasons. When you look at it, the game doesn't even look much better than the 2600 version. If it had been released, people might've said this version was inferior. 2600 has Space Rocks 7800 has Asteroids Deluxe Jaguar has Rebooteroids Now, the only system that actually does need a proper Asteroids would be the 5200. One that actually looks and plays like the arcade. A 5200 Asteroids Arcade, with Asteroids Deluxe included, maybe.

How's this .bas file? default.bas.lst

I'm trying to figure out how to change the playfield when going to the next level. Do you know how it can be done?

A friend of mine started a game, but doesn't know how to finish it, and I would like some help here. Inside the Zip folder is the folder that has almost everything you need, and there's a video showing Meatwad playing the game in the show, Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Episode: Mooninites 4 The Final Mooning). He didn't know how to make a good Gorgatron sprite, but there are sprites for both the player and goal. After clearing level two, the screen should change to the one that says "BEWARE" and the Gorgatron should appear in the center of it, and after a few seconds, it should change to the one that says "HE'S IN LOVE" and after that, the one that says "SHOOT HIM IN THE HEAD", and then level 3, and after you shoot Gorgatron, it should change to the screen that says "You are the Moon Master" and you can press Reset to play again. We're trying to make the game in the show to become real. Moon Master.zip

I previously tried developing a game by following instructions on a video step by step very carefully, but I kept getting errors.

Wow, the Flashback version is pitiful. Instead of shield, it's a 180 flip. Now I understand why the tether mode was omitted from the 7800 version, because it didn't turn out as good as hoped, and it caused lagging. Here's my idea for a 2600 version: The shapes can come in different colors with each being one color, like 2600 Asteroids. Rather than that 180 flip, it should actually have the shield.

Thank you VERY much for getting us back on topic. I'm new here, and I don't want to cause any drama.

Everyone, listen. My idea for Space Duel has NOTHING to do with Space Rocks. Did I say it did? No. So please stop quote-mining me, adding words I never said. And Jinks, did you have to bring something up from another topic which has nothing to do with this?
-
I understand now, the purpose of Space Rocks was to push the limits of the 2600 to make a much better Asteroids. Now I realize that a 7800 port wouldn't be that special. Asteroids Deluxe is good enough for the 7800. And Jinks, no I was NOT asking to make a 7800 game better in the 2600 forum. I was suggesting an idea for a 2600 game which has nothing to do with Space Rocks.
-
Does anyone think Space Duel for the 2600 is possible, or would the tether mode, which is absent in the 7800 version, be problematic for the system's limitations?
-
It was only a thought. Only a suggestion if anyone else wanted to try it, and they don't have to. I'm not forcing anyone though.
-
His Asteroids Deluxe was great, don't get me wrong, but yeah, the tether mode in Space Duel is missing.
-
Space Rocks for the 2600 was a great game, but does anyone think it should get a 7800 port? I know there's already Asteroids Deluxe with the original as an Easter Egg, but Space Rocks would have much more options. Just expressing an idea.
