  1. By God. I stand corrected. More coffee and biscuits, anyone? By the way, how does publishing homebrews at AtariAge work? Is there a page on the site describing this? I don't feel like searching through hundreds of forums just to find a list of rules. Humor me only if you have time. It's Thanksgiving and I'm lazy. EDIT: I'm also interested in knowing where the AtariAge FAQ is located.
  2. I already stated that I thought I may have paid too much. And I did say that the seller refurbished it. And I call BS on the $300 CIB Heavy Sixer. That's like expecting to find a complete working Apple II (not plus) for $500. I challenge you to find me a CIB H6er on eBay for less than $500. Oh, and find me a pair of CX-10s for less than $75 while you're at it. I don't mean to be rude, and I'm sorry if I come across that way, but this is a shock to me. You said you're familiar with pricing? Are trusted sellers on eBay really that bad? If what you say is true, then I am super pissed at myself for being so stupid. EDIT: Depending on how long ago you made those transactions, the prices may have gone up. There have been price spikes for a lot of things lately. Mega Man on NES is now $70.
  3. There's a new one? I never saw it. Multiple people have been posting in the old thread recently (within the last week), so I assumed it was current. It's also the one that shows up most prominently in Google search. What the frick? Close that sucker!
  4. Whoa, there's a lot there. OK, first of all, I got it for pretty much all the reasons you listed. (American-made, first model, a bit more rare, high-quality construction, etc.) Secondly, it has been refurbished and looks amazing. I'm pretty sure the switches have been replaced, and there might be other new parts as well. I'm assuming that's why it cost so much. I posted a picture of it on the H6er thread if you want to take a look. Maybe I shouldn't have said "barely-used" in my first comment since it's actually refurbished. I still think it was treated well though, because the case is barely worn at all. You can clean a case, but I don't think you can un-wear one to its original matte beauty. ...I'm very new to this, so don't expect me to know as much as you guys. I'm here to learn. EDIT: You have published homebrews? I am honored to be in your presence, sir.
  5. Sounds fair. I definitely want to keep the value of the system, though. That's why I spent $300 on it. Otherwise I would've just bought a Darth Vader or a Jr. and modded it to infinity and beyond.
  6. Blowing up the Qotile in Yars' Revenge had an impressive rainbow effect. That was 1982 as well but a bit earlier than Swordquest and Centipede. Can anyone think of an animated rainbow gradient from 81?
  7. I've been wondering about getting a composite or RGB mod for my 2600, but since it's a barely-used Heavy Sixer, I don't know for sure if I should. Would it be better to keep it in its original condition, or is it worth it to improve the picture and sound? Also, is there a way to perform the mod so that it is fully reversible? i.e. without drilling holes in the case or tampering with the components?
  8. Congrats? Congrats on yours! 50 bucks?!? A steal! A good H6er can go for anywhere between 150 and 350 on eBay. I got mine for 300... It came with two joysticks, a set of paddles, a power supply, and ten games; a couple of which I already had duplicates of. Maybe I paid too much, but it's too late now. I bought it to replace a falling-apart Sears light-sixer I got at the Reuseum for $5. I had collected a decent library of games over the last five years. But it does make a beautiful centerpiece to any living room, and is a great conversation starter. That is... if the person you're talking to knows their stuff (Har har).
  9. My Atari-made Sunnyvale H6er: SN: 11878H No channel-select switch on the inside and no hole in the case. I'd have to open it up again to get pics of the date codes, though. It's newly refurbished and in mint condition. Freaking thing was expensive.
