  1. I’ve been out of the loop and only recently found out about these. They had two display models in Walmart (though one had the the panel enclosed in a plastic case and some asshole ripped off the stick on the other). The looked sturdy enough and with a base (bought or made) would probably help the height issue. Anyone have any thoughts on the overall quality? My fiancé’s daughter LOVES Galaga and we were thinking about getting the 1up cabinet.

  2. Wow, These people are STUPID. I just posted by BBS address address on a 'Social Media' site. Every reply I got thought I was a 'bot' or a bad guy 'hacker type'.

What is wrong with these people?

Simply search for what Telnet is and how to do it. Problem solved. Do they not understand?

    These people are SICK.

Trying to educate people and introduce them to a side of the internet they’ve likely never seen before? You evil bot! I’ve not experienced that much hate from posting a telnet address, however the people don’t seem to understand that a terminal program is needed.

  3. I got my Atari 800XL about 6 months ago. Enjoyed playing with some basic programming and a couple carts that were included in the sale. Last night I hooked it up to my main system with SIO2PC (got one of those nice USB devices from AtariMax). Watching my Atari and old CRT TV run through different programs and connect to a BBS through it... brought me back to the old days hanging out with my grandma while she was connecting to QLink on our Commodore 64

Now just gotta get BBS Express set up and start running my board off of the Atari

  4. As usual.. I'm late to the party. I'd like to join! I was just telling my fiance earlier today that (despite the hate for the system on the Internet) it is actually a really awesome console. True you may have to fix the controller or buy another one or two. But other than this annoyance. it's a really nice system.

  5. Dang! I'd demand my money back of file a claim or something from them. That is terrible. I am always worried when I order off ebay.. but have been pretty lucky so far (with the exception of one item.) Negative ratings!!

I'm writing off ebay as a source for a while.

After two broken CRTs, one doa coco 2 and now the latest a PEB fot ti99 with a broken top i'm done
I'm tired of being overcharged for shipping only to find that the seller used the cheapest packing material in the smallest quantity to ship it.

  6. Thought at looking at a few of the BSG games that are out (I'm a HUGE BSG fan... (the 1978 version preferably... but I'll take the reboot or even Galactica 1980 over most things on TV now.) It's too bad that the game is twitchy. I'm currently working on mission design for a few custom mission on the Diaspora Freespace 2 total conversion for some friends of mine... wait I don't have any friends.     Definitely recommend that if you're a BSG fan.

    Extremely meh.

The concept is cool: It takes place when Adama is still flying a Viper, and fighting in the Human/Cylon war that happened before the shows. I can't tell whether it's related to the 1978 show or the reboot. BSG games are tough to come by, so at least it exists!

It steals a lot of the gameplay from games like Colony Wars on the PS1, but plays a lot worse. Everything is super twitchy, and mission objectives can be unclear. The worst part: I couldn't even get past the first mission. It has multiple parts, and if you die at any time, they send you back to the very beginning. After that happened, I just shut the game off and moved on.

For $5 CIB, I'm not at all disappointed, but I wouldn't pay more than that.

Picked these up over the long weekend. My wedding anniversary was yesterday, so the wife and I took a day and went to some of our favorite antique stores, and I hit up a few game stores as well. Records came from the antique store, the Switch stuff came from Gamestop, and the PS2/Xbox/SNES stuff came from a local shop I like.

    Hows the BSG game?

  8. Just wanted to share a little experience I had last night. I have my kids for a few weeks this summer. After putting my little ones to bed, I powered up the 2600 and started messing around with Warlords. My four year old snuck out of bed and asked what I was doing. I gave him the second paddle and we played a quick five rounds. The final score: 3-2. First time on an Atari 2600 and the little guy beat me!!

    Such a proud moment!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

My girlfriends grandfather decided that his computer wasn't working (nevermind that I could have fixed it for him... but I won't go into all the problems he has just using a computer in the first place.) Anyhow, he decided to get a new laptop. Went to the glory that is Wal-mart ( :woozy:) Found a cheap Chromebook and asked the associate if it was a Windows 10 computer.. to which she replied "Yes." (According to him anyway) Two days later I was at his house working on the original computer, when h came to me about his "brand new laptop" that had WIndows 10 and it wasn't working right. I had to break to the poor guy, that the moron at Walmart had no idea what they were talking and that Chromebooks suck.

  10. I never got kicked out, but I had the manager talk to me about "correcting" her employees. In the mid nineties, I decided to "test" one of the employees and asked if software that listed a Pentium processor in its system requirements would work on a computer with a Celeron chip. He said "No" but I could probably find a patch that would allow it to run. I loudly laughed at him and (being a teenager and a bit of a jerk) called him a moron and told him it would work. The exchange alerted the attention of the manager who was near by. She quickly came by and defended her employee basically saying I was just a kid and had no idea what I was talking about. My parents collected me and we left the store shortly after.

That was at CompUSA, where I would also sit in on their free "web design" class and correct the person "teaching" the class, and jump in on their Quake 2 (and then 3) "tournaments" and mop the floor with everyone that sat down.

    Fun times!
