I think what he meant was that BBS are more community run and are different from commercial "Online Services." Back in the day we made a distinction between Q-Link, CompuServe, and other so-called "Online Services," and the local BBS, often ran by some dude in his bedroom.
-dZ.
Exactly what I was aiming for.

Anyone from Arkansas here?

Just go to a local gaming store or eBay and buy an original NES. I did.
I was lucky and found a top loader in this storage shed my girlfriends grandpa was cleaning out. He gave it to me to tinker with. After some cleaning... It worked beautifully.
Go for the original... Not an emulation!

He-Man action figures can use it as a conference table,
If only I still had my He-Man action figures. ..

Just remember.... The Apple will keep you warm at night. When you have a rough day at work... Your Apple will "tell" you everything will be okay. Your Apple won't care if you go out with your friends. And your Apple will not make you choose. Keep the comp, ditch the wife.
But then again, I've been married and divorced twice... So I may not be the best person to give advice on this.
In reality though, she should realize that this equipment is important to you. And even try to understand why its important. My girlfriend did that with my BBS and my retro gaming and found that she likes it. If she hasn't already tried to understand. .. She may find that she enjoys it (or at least isn't hostile towards it.)
There could always be a deeper issue that is bothering her and the anger about the computer equipment is an outlet for that concern she has.
I hope everything works out for both of you.

How about 2/22/17 and 3/19/17.

If you count a game plus expansions plus the monthly subscriptions, plus paying real money for ingame items... then well over $1000. If, just a game, then about $100 for a collectors edition.

if you have a dial up bbs and your in nz ill dial into it with my vintage computers even if its just a simple terminal type
there is no dial bbs systems here.
No dial up access right now. I am thinking of hooking up to a phone line in the future.. but not sure how far off that project is at the moment.
-
You got a dial up #?
At the moment I only have Telnet nodes available. Though I've been thinking of adding a dial up node in the future. Though I may run a dial up node on an older computer as another project.

Well I'm in if we can get at least 10-20 people. Otherwise it's really not all that fun with 3 or 4 people.
I currently play on a server called "BBSLink" that has quite a few players (relatively, around 10+) I use that rather than running LORD and Trade Wars on my board to give my users more players to interact with. But if enough AA members want a special section on the Black Sun BBS, I'll be happy to oblige. Just need to make sure that the AA forums are mentioned in the feedback so I can give the proper access.

I could set up a section on my board for AA only access

Is your BBS still up?

I don't own one, but if I did.. absolutely not!

I remember playing GoldenEye on the N64 with a bunch of friends one night. When I left for the bathroom they lowered my health to 25%, Took me a while to figure out why I kept dying so quickly. Those jerks! Great memories!

-
It really depends on what I'm playing. But I love the sound of both.

A little late to respond.. but "Good" Friday is my favorite! I don't follow any religious stuff.. but my work is closed... so I get a three day weekend and if alcohol is involved, it's even better!!

To all the 2600 programmers out there. What is your process when you begin working on a project? Do you have a detailed plan? a general outline?
I recently started playing with batari and am wanting to put a small game together for my family to enjoy at home... and am looking for ideas on how other people get their ideas and how they structure the initial stages of their projects.
Thanks!

I remember my grandmother telling me about "Q-Link" for the Commodore 64. She described it as "America Online" (vomit) for the Commodore 64. As I did more research on it, it seemed more like a BBS, though it was described as an "Online Service."
But I'm not familiar with the book,

I was born in the early 80's, so I grew up in the 90's. I did a lot of gaming on the PC and loved the in game "achievements" you could receive (for example, playing missions of Wing Commander over and over and over until I could get the highest score I could possibly get.) When I got my XBox 360 (which lasted a surprising 4 years before it died completely.. unlike my 40 year old 2600 that still works perfectly), I enjoyed trying to unlock the different achievements. A few years ago, I learned this was not a new thing and that back in the the good old days of the Atari 2600 "achievement patches" were sent to players achieving certain scores. Who remembers these or ever got one?
Developers should stop giving these online achievements and bring back the patch and letter system!!
