  1. OK = it's been 8+ years. Tell us. (please) Before I hang all my controllers from trees in my back yard for the next week.
  2. Thought it might help to add that Best E has said I could send it back {on my dime} to get checked, and, if it fails their test, then they'll do something. But, to that #2) question - it doesn't seem to make much sense to disturb it for a new flawed screen when any good Lynx ultimately earns a McWill it seems.
  3. Sort of a forgotten thread, but thought I might inquire here rather than start another: Disregard the discoloration/green color, etc.-The lcd is "good", "clear", "perfect" except for slight to moderate number of sprinkled dots that I attempted to catch in pictures {only seen when games are on}. 1.) Anyone able to confirm this is the same problem? Dying, damaged lcd? {It's sat in a warehouse for 20+ years, degradation due to sitting conditions would make perfect sense to me} 2.) Anyone have an opinion on the likelihood it will stay this way for another 20+ years and not degrade further? {It remains very playable now, and I would prefer not to disturb the case, contents, etc.-except for during gameplay, of course :-) } Thanks everyone for any thoughts.
  4. Please add me to your order list. I would like to order 1 cased & 1 uncased. Thanks. {As an aside - I feel like it is 11 AM at the Amusement Park and I just now discovered that awesome new roller coaster everyone's been talking about.} - But having read all that has gone into this on the original thread, let me reiterate the sentiments of others -THANK YOU!!!
  5. Thanks for all the GREAT info. Came back to earth a little on this already, and likely my 1st logical project will be the substitute power supply. I'd love to acquire one {if anyone knows where one for purchase is}, because I do not imagine disturbing the gentleman who has made them in the past at the present time would be wise & making one from scratch {though it appears very doable & I've already located the power supply online} is going to take me a little while to get around to doing. Plus, a nice one might be nice. I confess this may remain a large Colecovision cart player til I can digest all this good info, but I still will think it's awesome in the meantime.
  6. Thanks Thomas, Fred sent me a new one. I got it working on a new console I just received. Seems both the 1st cart {possibly} and the consoles {definitely} were a problem. I have a last hope attempt to save the 1st before I send it back {I'll ask Fred too} that I'm going to PM you about. Thanks again.
  7. I just recently came across a new Coleco Adam computer. But, since space is a dwindling commodity at my house, I was really just getting it to check it out, make sure it worked, and ultimately see if I could resell it someday. Well, as soon as I followed my intuition to allow for a cartridge to be slipped in {no manuals included unfortunately}, I was hooked. I immediately said, "Now I know why people collect these things." That's really all, in case it helps someone out there who is on the fence about collecting this system. I guess I will add as well that these old systems, plastic bags and styrofoam are all very amazing things. The box to this thing looked like it had been consumed by bugs for decades and/or laying in the edge of a pond or puddle for years {even the welcome letter they left in the printer looks to have been nibbled on from time to time}, but inside the contents are new like they day they should have been opened for Christmas {within reason of course}. I'll certainly save the foam. But, unless the Preservers of All Things ADAM speak up quickly, that box is going out with the garbage VERY soon. Also, any useful info, links etc. to get me started on my way to ADAM bliss {or invitations to secret ADAM societies} will be usefully appreciated.
  8. Quick follow-up - I guess I needed to freak out a bit for the gods of game to feel my pain. The seller has responded and is planning to send me a replacement. I'll certainly give updates as I get them. Thanks. I'm hoping he sends a loaded SD as well - but info on where the files are {or other thoughts} may help others perhaps if someone knows. Also, if anyone knows - if it is possible, this may be a good topic to close or delete/remove {especially if the problem was just with the cart}.
  9. Hello All. Finally got myself a Harmony Cartridge {Probably 10 years after everybody else it seems}. AND, it seems I'm living {or am going to live} the nightmare I've feared with these {multi}carts in the past {fortunately, I've had no major problems with any of the other multicarts/flashcarts I've obtained up til now}. First, I've only got an AV modded 7800 {2 actually} to test it on. When I first received it, I was able to briefly {1-2 seconds at most} on occasion get what appeared to be a garbled menu screen on one of my consoles. Other than that, it has been as if no cartridge is inserted in the console {i.e. single or multiple solid lines or blank screen, etc.}. I've since compounded the problems, and believe I have now deleted some of the main files/directories {i.e. program files that had the loader etc..-My SD card only has the following folders now: Drivers; Homebrew; Manual}. So, my 1st question is, can anybody guide me on how to rebuilding the directories that I've deleted? But, from there: Am I perhaps just out of luck with this thing? I've definitely cleaned the contacts as well as they can be cleaned. Is there any chance the problem is with the Cart itself? I've been attempting to contact the seller {I think Batari}, but have not been able to do so before extending the problems with this. If it's potentially the consoles causing the problems, then I do not wish to start fumbling with them-so that might be a dead-end for me because I do not want to buy a spare 2600 if I don't know pretty much 100% that the problem isn't with the hardware/cart? This concern is particularly real because I think I did the re-install of the Firmware properly before deleting everything tonight {only thing I struggled with was: What's the root directory? I chose E: for that choice}.? But, would that briefly appearing garbled menu indicate the hardware/cart itself is fine? or might it indicate the problem could be with the hardware/cart itself? {A note here: After attempting to reinstall the firmware, I no longer was able to get that garbled menu anymore}. Lots of questions. So, sorry this inquiry is all over the place. {I went back and put bolds where the main inquiries are for this topic}. I hate to think I've got an unusable "BRICK" on my hands, which, of course, was by no means cheap, but I also don't want to piss anyone off if I were to pursue recourse in that regards {Some day I'd like to be ahead of the curve with all of the great products out here to be had - such as, perhaps, a 7800 multicart?}-{Note here too-I'm currently licking my wounds after "discovering" the latest SGM for C-vision, only to realize I just missed the pre-order deadline-so I surely am a hard luck story here}. I'd hate to accept that my knowledge of the 2600 might remain limited to Seaquest, Phoenix and the several other titles I have, but am afraid the current can of worms I see open before me is not going to resolve itself anytime soon, and, if it can't be resolved soon, then I may have to bury it in my backyard or crawlspace until I forget it and stop trying to resolve it. I hope someone can make sense of the mess here that lies above, and help me on my way to resolution? {or make me an offer to get it off my hands? lol - I hope?} Thanks.
  10. Thanks even more! Robbievgb, those photos help greatly. I'm also interestingly surprised. My little, rushed hatchet job was a lot closer than I thought {I only had "Blue" and "Red/White" mixed up}. My attempts at any confirmation though were foiled from the beginning because I was using a switchbox with all F outputs to provide my F/F gender changing contact point in the set-up I quickly cobbled together {and it was messing up anything I plugged through it-or the outputs were just too shallow for the 5200 cables I was using, etc.}. So, unless I find some time and another way to test, I may just have to wait for that gender changer mini adapter I ordered to arrive in the mail to get my first physical taste of success here. Feeling good here though. THANKS AGAIN ALL!!!
  11. Thanks all. Gratefully embarrassed I am. Thankfully, I had the sense to trash only a cable that was already in really bad shape, and I do have a back-up {mostly in good order}. Looks like it is time to get a Multimeter. Maybe if I get impatient while I wait I'll run the continuity testing on the spare cable with a battery harness and wires from a dismantled Digital derby and a light assembly from a Digital Diamond {I try not to keep that as a permanent solution to problems such as this though}. Thanks a ton for the help and jumpstarting my brain.
  12. Hello all - Since jumping into this thing and doing little projects here and there, I have suffered some setbacks, and enjoyed a few surprising successes. But, this latest project I've embarked upon has given me quite a few ups and downs, with an emphasis on the down. I have a Wico Keypad that was only registering a few buttons. I swapped a cable and confirmed it's the cable. Despite urgings from the intelligence center of my brain, I had to jump into getting to the bottom of it and solving my problem {without consulting the pros here first, of course}. How hard could it be to get some new wires from keypad box to the tip of a new donor cable? Well, long story short, I failed. I've attached a photo. My question is: Does anyone have a simple explanation of where each of the 15 colored wires in that line within the keypad need to be when they reach the DB15 tip of the new cable? I'll gladly expand if anyone can join me in solving this dilemma {and even hope to be gratefully embarrassed if/when someone shows me one of those simple pinout diagrams like for converting O2 sticks to Atari, etc.} But, so far I'm not seeing it. NOW, I have seen that page that someone explains the matrix array set-up of these controllers, and with that and following the lines on the boards, and some great mental strain etc. I could see solving this puzzle some day.... AND, as you may be able to see from the picture, I've got all the wires tipped with male prongs, and a female to female gender changer adapter on it's way. It sure would be nice {and I would be more than quite grateful} if, when that gender changer adapter arrives, I could just plug those male prongs 1,2,3....15 right into their respective spots at the DB15 tip and begin to feel I've brought something good back into the world again. Thanks for reading, helping, etc. A final note {since you've stayed on this far}: Wico, in a cruel twist {and causing all my pain here} embedded their wires in some blackened amber encasement at the tip of the cable, making tracking the wires nearly impossible {I was able to track like 3 of them after a "careful" destruction of the tip}. Also, the damage was done, but it didn't help that they included 2 orange/white wires into the mix. Thanks again.
  13. Looks like I got this under the 5200 forums somehow. My bad. Still learning my way around here.
  14. I've recently got the bug to set up a wireless deal for an O2 and 2600. Based on my current household arrangement, it seemed like the most plausible way to get a quick fix when needed on the main TV. Though I think this has been well covered here, for anyone not already in the know, the rankings for reception are 1.) the no-name brand RGA 118 set-up, 2.) Game Mate, and 3.) the Atari branded ones {DEAD last}. Interestingly {or unsurprisingly}, all controllers are compatible with all transmitters. Anyway, my question today is in regards to the power supply. Would it be best to use the Atari power supply to ultimately power the O2 through the transmitter unit? Or should I use an O2 power supply into the transmitter unit? I currently have been using the Atari power supply with no major problems {I read here that many others do this}, but I have been noticing weird blippy/scritch-type sounds during test games of UFO. So, I thought it may be useful to double check to make sure. On the flip side, would there be any danger of frying the transmitter, etc. if I use/plug the O2 power into the transmitter? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or wisdom here &, though this is mainly a double check to make sure I'm not unknowingly frying something, I hope this isn't just an obvious case of "doesn't matter." Thank again everyone.
  15. Great. Thanks everyone. I'll make the move on this ASAP, check back here when I do, and I definitely appreciate the tips and any more that may follow. I haven't gotten too technologically averse yet, but I'm getting to where I need to keep an eye on myself. Thanks again.
  16. Hi all - kind of new here. This is my 1st forum topic. Getting ready to go for this Atarimax Ultimate SD for the 5200. I guess I will ultimately figure it out, but weary of wasting {free} hours/days, which will translate into month(s) before I get it all figured out and can focus more on simply enjoying the games. I'm not finding a lot of how too info. on this stuff, and the Atarimax forum topics seeking help when problems do arise don't seem to get much attention. Anyway-Is my worry for naught? Is the finding and downloading games process pretty straight forward? Any other tips or guidance on best places to grab games (should I be saying ROMs??) or how to do it if/when I do get it? Not as clueless s I may be seeming, but I just don't have much interest in having a "can not open/access file"-type experience right now. I hope I got this out in a way that can be found by others here & Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. Also-If anyone has Sean Kelly or the like that they might be happy to part with in order to build funds to get their own Ultimate SD, I may be able to help towards that end. {but, I should note that I may move on this before the 7/27 deadline they currently have going, which could, but not necessarily, affect my interest in that regard} - Thanks again.
  17. Hey all - fairly long time lurker here. Would love to be added. 1.) Love our system and games! Even when it seemed nobody had ever heard of it. Remember wearing all of the directional points off my controller playing K.C. {wish I still had that thing}. 2.) Post a reply to this thread and tell us all at least one of the following: a.) How you got your system? Giving Santa a head nod at the chimney on Christmas night {circa '80}, I proceeded to connect it in a darkened basement and played Cosmic Conflict endlessly after releasing my sister from her indentured spinout servitude. b.) Your favorite memory of the system or games? The day I dedicated to breaking my high score on UFO, followed by Hockey w/ bro, and any time playing game 3 on K.C. c.) The weirdest thing you have typed into "Type and Tell" to make The Voice say? Sorry, was sheltered, didn't know about Voice until recent years. 4.) If you are already a member of the Videopac /Odyssey 2 forum include your user name for that forum in your post if different from your AA username. I will add them both to your spot on the list below. jcrunchy84 5.) Add the following to your signature box once your username is added to the list below: Official Wizard of the Odyssey 2 / Videopac Brotherhood!
