  1. I exchanged the defective unit and the new unit works just fine. The only downside is that it is 1st run version with the old version of millipede and quadrun doesn't have the voice synth, but I am just glad the system as a whole works.
  2. I have just picked up an Atari Flashback 2 from Walmart and I have found a lot of the games on it do not work. It seems all the unreleased games either do not work(Lunar Lander, Yars Return, and others just come up as scrambled screens or just a black screen) or come up as other games (Adventure 2 loads up a Chess, Asteroids Deluxe loads up Missle Command, etc). Do you know if this has been found in a run of them or if just this one unit is defective.
  3. I'm going to break the rules for this and list a few. First off, I own one of my favorite arcade games since a few weekends ago when I picked up an Out Run stand up machine at an auction. I also own a JAMMA Double Dragon board and Mario Bros board with JAMMA converter. I would like to throw in(stuff I want) would be a Dig Dug machine, a Spy Hunter machine, a Galaga, a Donkey Kong, a MS Pac with speed up chip, a DDR machine, and 8 Daytona USA machines linked together. Also throw in a MAME machine(oh wait, I have one of those too) for good measure. With that setup, I would probably never leave home.
  4. I just picked up an Outrun standup arcade machine from an arcade auction here for $250. It is in desent shape too except the bezel and dashboard are a bit beatup. I was wondering if anyone knows what the going rate is for that machine in general?
  5. Actually Dark Chambers came out after Gauntlet did, but I liked this one as well. But to add to the list -NES Knight Rider This was a fun first person driving game, or maybe it was fun because I was obsessed with the show. Baloon Fight This game has a wicked 2 player mode -C64 Ultimate Wizard This was a single screen run and jump puzzle game like Lode Runner Racing Destruction Set A fun little driving game by EA
  6. Well, my take (being an old schooler): FUN---------------* Vintage: Anything before 1978 Great/Classic---* Old School/Classic: 1979-1984 Not bad----------* Golden Era: 1985-1993 Mostly crappy---* Modern Era: 1994-1998 What games?---* Next Gen: 1999-today desiv I would have to disagree how you rate the games. I think a lot of people who hate modern games are mostly adults who compair it to their warm feelings of nostalgia from being a kid to the colder world of being grown up. Infact I am going to go on to say that games have improved in quality and playability the newer they get. It is easy to look back and remember the good games of the day, but if you look back, bad games will always outnumber good games. Infact one of my favorite systems is the Sega Dreamcast, and according to some in this topic, would be classified as worthless for games. I have also really gotten into Max Payne and GTA3 on my PC which was released in the modern day. With that said, I really like the classics as well. One of my all time favorite games is the original Legend of Zelda and I still on occasion pull out my C64 for some old school gaming goodness. The bottom line is a good game is a good whether it was released 25 years ago or released last month. I wouldn't doubt that 10-20 years down the road we will have people talking about how Xbox, GC, PS2 were the greatest systems, and everything after it sucked only because of their warm and fuzzy feelings playing them when they were younger.
  7. This is a tough question to answer because it depends on what you need the game to do. If we are looking at just raw power, the Genesis wins. A lot of the games that made the SNES look impresive(Mode 7 / 3D flat shaded polygons) used extra coprocessers in the game cart. But Sega would still win in that because they have the fastest 16 bit 3D game which is Virtua Racing. In that cart, Sega did use an additional coprocessor, but the result was still faster then the FX2 chips. There is also a question of actuall CPU speed. It is true that MHZ can't be compared between different types of CPUs, but the Motorola 68000 cpus(which were the same CPUs that Sega used in the System16 arcade machines) were a lot more powerful then what the SNES used which was basicly a 16 bit 6502. Also, the Genesis runs games at a higher resolution then the SNES. Yes the SNES can display a higher resolution, but it uses the lower one for the gameplay. So with a higher resolution, you need more CPU power since you are driving more info. With that said, the graphics hardware for the SNES is far superior to the Genesis graphics hardware supporting more colors, graphics layers, more sprites, and supports transparency. I am guessing since the graphics hardware was so powerful, they figured they didn't a whoper for a CPU(looking back at the 16-bit era, they were right). Also the sound hardware on the SNES was superior to the Genesis. If you are just looking at raw power, I would say that the Genesis has the SNES beat, but if you are looking for best overall package and balance, then I would say that the SNES has the Genesis beat.
  8. Glad to hear that the Neo Geo wasn't totally hosed, that would have sucked. BTW, did you email the seller to find out what the product the happy snow man was selling?
