Take a look at the official doc I attached above in post #5. Atari has you using a free tool to install Windows as a VHD on the usb drive.
-
Did you do the external drive method? If so, it looks like the docs have you install Windows as a virtual disk. How do you add files to Windows if you do it this way?
-
If you want to use an external USB drive or Flash drive, there are more steps that need to be done. See attached .pdf. PC-Mode-Create-Windows-Boot-Drive - Copy.pdf
-
What do you mean by "upgrade your VCS?" The official docs don't mention anything about having to "Upgrade" first.
-
When you say put Windows on it...do you mean on a separate USB attached drive...which can be plugged in when needed and unplugged when you want the device to boot to the Atari OS?
-
It would be great to get Altirra on it.
-
Tried that...it doesn't work.

Thinking of getting an XEGS! Advice appreciated.

Several of those commercials Ray posted above show the XE BIOS screen looking like the 7800 BIOS screen. Did they just show the 7800 BIOS for the commercials or did the XEGS also have that? -
Hi Cafeman. I do have the correct Atari ROMs. Altirra recognizes them and they are listed in the Firmware Manager in addition to the Altirra built-in ones. Thanks for the info and the section from the Help file. I see that I need to detach the keyboard in System > Console Switches > Keyboard Present (XEGS) and add a ROM in Firmware Manager to XEGS Game ROM. If I do this, it works! If I wanted to keep the keyboard attached, how do I boot with the Select key pressed?

I'm trying to get the XE Game System emulation to run Missile Command. I have the Rev 4 bios which is recognized by Altirra but the emulator just starts to Basic with a warm reset or the Self Test with a cold reset. Shouldn't Missile Command launch if a cartridge is not attached?

Hi alsp. Congratulations and thank you for the continued support with this project. It's really a nice device. Happy holidays!

Thank you.

Can someone explain the difference between the .atr that was posted on the first page of this thread and the .xexs posted afterwards?
-
Here's a thread with someone else having a graphic glitch with Pac-Man using an AtariMax cart. Can anyone help me fix grapthic issue on the atarimax sd5200 - Atari 5200 - AtariAge Forums

Did you try it without the RF-to-HDMI interface? Also, I would consider getting an extension RCA cable instead of modifying the system.
-
I like the Atari version of Galaxian and I agree, better sounds would be nice. I first had it on the 5200 and played it frequently back in the day. I am not a fan of Galactic Chase.
-
Good job on this. I noticed that the .xex version has a much longer attract mode. It shows all the enemies and their point value along with other various instructional screens that this .rom version doesn't have.
-
Thanks but I read you can avoid the tombs altogether once you get the flower.
-
I read that once you get the flower, you can use the well to get to the end. This avoids the tomb screens. Does anyone know how to do that? I got to the end but I didn't have the flower and I don't want to go through the tomb again.

Nice work! It would be interesting to see the arcade version in your comparison gif.

Color difference between Emulator and hardware
Atari Nut replied to tsom's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
If you can try your hardware on a real CRT ( with color and tint properly adjusted), that would probably show the correct colors. -
My error. I meant "How about an Atari DIN to composite video cable?"
-
How about an Atari DIN to component video cable? I was told once that shielding is not necessary if the cable is relatively short (6' maybe). Anyone have experience with these?

I have been having an issue with save states in version 3.90. I was trying to save Miner 2049er Station 5. Two of the states produced garbled graphics when loaded and the third just started the game from Station 1. Has anyone else had similar issues? These were standard saves, not quick saves. Where are quick saves saved?
