  1. I love paying $4 to ship a cart only to see $1.84 stamped on the mailer... Ill factor in the cost of the mailer, but that is still a strong mark up. But I digress, at least with ebay I can usually pick exactly what I want and most of the time I buy from our forums here anyway. Finding fair prices are much harder though all across the board. $5 for a rarity 2 or 3 cart is a bit steep IMHO when most are found for $1 or less at fleas and thrifts over the years.
  2. No, they are just better games with more development time involved..... Right now there is now "war" because they sell to two completely seperate markets at their current prices. After a serious price drop, then maybe there will be a war. The PSP has the titles and power that people want but the price is the killer. The DS has great portable games and the reasonable price, but not the power and "hipness" of the PSP. Like I said before, Ill pass judgement until the new Gameboy is shipped. I would venture to guess Nintendo is going to drop that bomb at E3 this year. Speaking of that, this is a fairly stupid argument anyway, two relatively new platform with launch lineups. Wait till after E3 and the huge list of titles shore to be announced then we can revisit this with some actual material to argue. BTW, Im waiting for a serious tetris replacement. Its still the portable game that I play the most, and my original gameboy plays it just fine.
  3. That's probably your best bet. As much as I hate to endorse Wal-Mart, if I were going to buy a PSP that's where I'd get it. On the chance that you get a dead pixel you can just exchange it (save that reciept) and tell them the display is defective. I've never had anyone at the Wal-Mart service desk question a return, and they probably won't even turn it on to check. -S Our wally-world had at least 25 PSPs in the display case so you are likely to find one there too.
  4. You read my post wrong. I didn't say posting it was was waste of time, I said posing the picture was a waste. You're right in that humor is relative but needing 4 people to make a lame joke just doesn't seem worth it to me. Now I understand. Yes, I didn't waste my time setting the pictue up, Im just sharing it with a new group. Found it elsewhere. If I had either, Id be gaming, not wasting time setting up silly jokes. Probably a group of teens at the lunch table or something.
  5. Glad to see I'm not the only one who just wants to drive sometimes and not bother with buying crap for the car. I want my fix of both... Though I am partial to the arcade version of pole position myself. I used to love the wheel and gas pedal as a kid.... It was my first real quarter black hole.... Someday when I get a house, I will own one...
  6. Like I said, its just a matter of time really. If there is encryption, someone wrote it, and there will be someone else out there that will be able to break it. Simply a matter of time. Everyone knows how powerful this thing is for a hand held so they are going to tear into it like nothing before. Well like the XBOX at least.
  7. If you aren't afraid to open her up, open up the case and post some pictures. Then we will know what chip you have. Though, I might add that I have a launch box that has never had a single problem and gets almost daily use. No mod chip though... You never know the skill level of the chip installer either...
  8. Ebay will get you more $$$ than EB. Mercs is a fairly new game too. Whatever you do, try and avoid trading in though because you will loose out on the deal. I don't particlarly want either though. I have too many unplayed titles right now.
  9. This is fairly old news unfortunately. Many of the japanese units suffered the same fait. I know some I have talked to have had bad pixels. The worst I saw was over 20 in two seperate cases. Both of those were replaced though afaik. I asked our local EB and they only had one return for dead pixels. I would imagine there is a cut off limit in the number. More than x and you can get a replacement. Kinda the same with many laptops. I personally feel that for the price, you should be able to return it for a better one. Thats just me though.
  10. Im not going to far out on a limb, but Ill go ahead and say that it will be to portables what the xbox is to home consoles. The jack of all trades for emulation. With the memory card support its only a matter of time before we see some emulation for it. The power sound be more than enough to handle the emulation for most of the earlier systems. I imagine we will see super mario bros. on the PSP at some point...
  11. That and the picture where the PSPs battery has died while the DS continues. And yes, the Ngage had wireless internet gaming. I was just correcting the comparison between the PSP and the DS.
  12. Another forum. I never stated that two screens are useless. Just a gimmick until they prove that they can be used well.
  13. No Im not, I just thought the picture was humorus. Id hardly say the PSP launch was a huge success. If anything, the DS had a better launch. Just a funny picture is all.
  14. But to me the DS feels like the same old games that I have been playing for 20 years. More mario games? What is so new and exciting about having a touch screen? As stated many times you can't even enjoy Mario 64 DS to the fullest extent without the analog control. Im holding off on both simply because its too early in the game. Everyone claims the DS has all these new and innovative games, but I haven't seen one yet that is really must have it now. Same with the PSP though at this point. When gran turismo ships then maybe Ill change my tune. Personally Im really waiting for the next gameboy that Nintendo has already hinted at. And E3 when all the new stuff is announced and titles show up in truck loads. All we are doing now is arguing about two launch platforms with limited libraries.
  15. Hate to say it, but the PSP already has wireless internet gaming. Infrastructure mode. And I thought it was funny Joey so I could care less if you thought I wasted my time. Luckily Humor is relative.
  16. How were you playing Doom 3 on the Xbox on March 27th? Plenty of people seem to have it already. Don't know how though, but Im active on XBOX boards and people have started to post opinions of it. Must have leaked or something?
  17. Funny picture I just had to post...
  18. DS= Bad idea, bad execution... Well after playing Mario 64 DS and using its controls at least I feel this way. Talk about butchering a classic PSP=Currently overpriced, but aimed directly at what the average gamer wants. Remember, we hear are a different flavor of gamer than the normal person walking into a game store looking for the latest GTA or Halo.
  19. Sly, it appears you really enjoy "un-completing" many peoples "complete" collections... Just gives me more to look for though. Nice picts and keep them coming.
  20. I think its relative really. I love Indy 500, but I also love spending time playing Project Gotham 2. Along those line I also love spending time with super offroad. I think it hits a point where you "have fun" because its a combination of nostaliga and a simple fun game. I think the only games that really age badly are games that simply aren't fun or enjoyable. Look at the love for Tecmo bowl and how its still supported. Though on some level I do agree that less time is spent on the classics in sports because the newer "realistic" version bring you more into the game. Ill enjoy the great games from the past and those of the present.
  21. Yes, it will be possible. You'll have to wait till the end of summer for it to ship though. But its desigend with this in mind.
  22. No problem, post up an impression after you give it some time. I managed to miss that one some how... Pedro offers his protection...
  23. Why not just plug your memory card into a card reader? I'd much rather see it work the other way around: I have a bunch of USB flash drives which would be great for storing video files (one of them is 4GB- enough for an uncompressed DVD!). I would love it if the PSP could use an external data source for media files. It doesn't seem outside the realm of the technically possible ... will keep my eyes open ... You are spot on about the cost complaints, BTW. PSP is in the ballpark of or less expensive than a GP32 BLU, Tapwave Zodiac, a Gizmondo, a similarly priced Palm or Pocket PC, a decent iPod, and most decent digital cameras. And none of those can play Wipeout Pure or Lumines. Id be sold right now if it had an internal HD with real storage space for music/movies/files/gamesaves. But with an extra cost of about $100 for only a gig, that leaves little space after you put on enough songs. My mp3s average around 4 megs a piece. Im the target market, but I still think its a waste for what amounts to only a game device for me. Though the idea of external storage is cool. Id also think it would be neat to add a GPS memory card like many PDAs have.
  24. Good luck finding a display PSP. I too would like to give one a spin, but can't find one.
  25. Yeah, send me a friend request at Jeepnut24... Im on alot.
