  1. wow I didnt really think that people would come all the way out to philly by plane... It thought that it was more of a local thing But glad you can come I grew up in Norristown and haven't been back in a while. We are far enough to fly, but I think we are going to drive. Well if I can convince the wife to come with me. I guess I can use the KOP mall as persuasion. I guess its only far though, I get toys and she gets shoes.
  2. Either way, the price isn't bad for what looks like an atari in great shape.
  3. Yeah, I hear you. It kinda avoids the ipod. As for ripping CD's to the HD, well you its kinda slow, but the results can't be beat. Custom in game music straight from the conosle rather than my stereo. What about a PC to TV connection? You could run winamp through the TV maybe? I myself would just have some extreme skiing or mountain bike DVD playing with the audio off and the ipod running. But thats my personal taste.
  4. Music mixer for the xbox is pretty nice. Lets you move the .mp3 to its hardrive too. Plays differant patterns etc... to the music.
  5. Cool stuff there. Hope you can find the copier too.
  6. Oh well, I was just figuring someone here might be interested. Im just looking for 2600 stuff. Mainly a working 4 switch.
  7. Im looking for a working 4 switch that isn't cosmetically perfect. I just need one that works. I don't care if it has anything with it either.
  8. Ill give that a try. It can't hurt to much because it doesn't work anyway.
  9. Yeah, its all games.
  10. Alright, I have an almost unused jr. but there is one small problem. Some of the screen is ofset to the right or left. When I hit the joystick button, it all lines up and I can play the game. Well if I have the button held down. Ive tried two differant power supplies that work with my four switch and had no luck. Ive also tried a variety of controlers to no avail. Ive opened up the case now, and haven't seen any obvious broken circuts. Now Im trying to narrow down which chip the problem could be? Any advice? Don't really want to scrap an almost new atari. Thanks for any help.
  11. Not really my thing, but I know some here would like these. Two and the jag link with it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=62054
  12. Pacman for the arcade Tetris for the gameboy Mario for the console
  13. Well Im slowly trying to build up my collection. Normally I hit the local flea market and thrift shop. Ive been getting a bunch on ebay also. Well I ordered a lot on ebay to pick up a few commons that I didn't have. About half were dups though. Or so I thought. It turns out that the PAC MAN was the sears title not ATARI! Needless to say that was a pleasent suprise. Nothing big, but its nice to get a suprise every now and then isn't it. Now I have to convince the wife to let me drive up to philly next weekend.
  14. Uh, ok. I guess people don't like to see stuff like this. There is many people who have one of these and don't take the time to take a picture of it. I suppose if it comes across that way, it was a waste of time. Please continue to post stuff like this. I will never see most of this stuff in person. I sure love seeing it in picture at least. Same with many of these rare games, boxes, etc... Thanks for the pictures... Oh yeah, noticed your watermark on the proto site yesterday.
  15. What about chopping up a 4 switch to make a portable vcs??
  16. They have died because today's consoles are just as powerful as arcades. Not to mention I can do this on a much larger HDTV monitor with full Dolby digital suround sound. Not to mention broadband support. That is the wave of the future if you ask me. Rooms setup with personal DD, HDTV and broadband for multiple players.
  17. Nothing rare but they were in the wild and not on ebay. But Five I didn't have and only $5!! Video Checkers Text Label Defender Megamania Enduro River Raid There are about 25 more that I don't have that I plan to return for in the future. Most were $3 a piece though and I can get them for less elsewhere. Either way, they weren't on ebay, they were at a flea market around here. I also found a radio shack atari joystick that I plan to return for along with a few other replacement controlers.
  18. Ive come to the conclusion that all of this talk is just to build hype for the next console. Look at SONY, they always promise the world just to drop functionality before its released. Im just waiting until MS says something directly.
  19. All right, Im a little behind, but Im loving all the info that is here. Wow there is a lot to chew on. Thanks for all the time invested. Anyways, here is my question, I want to stop the dark brown stripes about half way down the screen. I don't really know where to go from here though? Any suggestions? 20. See that is the thing, most of us will simply not choose to buy the XBOX2 if it doesn't have the internal storage. Again, check the forums, this is a very common opinion. Now that we have had the DL content, updates for LIVE and online games, custom soundtracks, MP3's etc... we don't want to go back to the dark ages of memory cards. Look at PS2, to compete, the latest version of Final Fantasy has an internal hard drive. It a pretty simple equation really, Ive seen it numerous times. "Wow, I don't have to buy memory cards again. Ill take the xbox." As for having to push the salesman for an extended warrantey, well most places actually push them on the customer. That is unless you abuse the policy. The harddrive isn't the real shinning point of the X anyway, the real main point is LIVE. That is almost a universal opinion that LIVE gaming is the future. It makes the PS2 online look like a joke really. But I digress, Im really only here for the atari stuff not to talk about the X. I just posted the info for others to look at. In the end, at least MS was smart enough to try something differant. You have to admit that its nice to see MS not dominate something and simply buy the market out. Now that they have proven themselves, and Nintendo is all but dead, they will have to make some good decisions or they too will fade away.
  21. Above, I quote the quote that heavily implies the X-Next's storage medium will be a perhiperal. In the sentences directly preceeding it, this is said: "Microsoft has taken the hard disk out of its Xbox. The only thing left will be a CD; that’s all." (Bolded text is actually bolded in the article) If all that will be left is the CD, then that pretty much flat out says that the storage medium will be some sort of external device. Like I've already said, it may not be true, but I have no problem believing this development. You might also notice that he states a CD. When was the XBOX with a CD drive released??? Again, this isn't even a statement from Microsoft. But I digress, not worth arguing about. I could care less. If they pull the internal memory it will be MS's loss, because at least SONY will learn from the xbox and its internal storage. I think it has already been proven that external console add on components don't do well.
  22. Where did the article mention that it was an add on piece??? Nothing at all has been confirmed by MS. As for you not being able to find other XBOX owners, that doesn't make sense. Right now, I live about as far from a city as I ever intend to, and there are XBOX owners everywhere. Again, if the hardware problem was as bad as you seem to think it is, why is it that all we ever hear or have heard about is the failure rate of PS2?? Again, I can go to my local EB and Circut City and get a 2 year service plan on an XBOX. I know this, because Im in the market for my second xbox. As far as yours only lasting 3-6 months, that isn't all that common. Ive had mine for over two years and its still going strong. Many still have launch xboxes that are going strong. Besides the major problem is the DVD drive. MS even had a silent recall for a short period of time. I think you are in the vast minority of XBOX owners. Take a look at some of the XBOX forums and you will see that more clearly.
  23. Actually when you talk to a large number of XBOX owners through various forums, you see that the most common failure is the DVD drive not the Hardrive. Last time I checked you can still get a warrenty. If you look at the numbers, there are more returned PS2s than XBOXs. 1) I realise that most XBOX owners don't use LIVE, but there are almost 750,000 of us that do. That is more than enough to drive the future market. 2) BB access is slowly increasing and the number of subscribers continues to increase. Not to mention the upshoot from HALO 2 is right around the corner. LIVE has proven its viability. The popularity will increase as more and more Big titles are online. 3)Live isn't the only option for DL content. There is currently one Magazine that provides it free, and there has also been content on exhibition discs. More than half of all games now release on the XBOX have DL content and I won't even get into the importance of DL rosters for sports games. 4)I have nearly 50 games now, and have played many others, and the number of games that have custom soundtracks is much higher than you think. This is also another option that MS will not remove. To many of us love it. I do agree though, most of us don't even fill 25% of the harddrive. 5)Given the fact that so many love the fact that the XBOX doesn't need memory cards, I highly doubt the next X will not have internal storage. I can't see Flash as a viable option. Unless we are talking about an 8 gig internal flash drive. Simply put, consumers are tired of buying memory cards. Besides, the HD is necassary because they provide numerous updates for games and for LIVE itself.
  24. Actually the most common device failure is the DVD drive. Many many more cases of bad DVD drives than HD failure. As for it being a liability, you couldn't be farther from the truth. Look at game updates, Downloadable content, music files, etc... None of which can be done with simply a memory card. Look at sony, they had to release a HD to keep up. I don't understand how you got a 3 month console life either???
