Im fairly adament about this topic. Hardcore gamers don't buy titles each year, but many sports nuts do and casual gamers. Its a real shame they have to buy updated rosters each year for $50. I mean when was the last time we saw serious improvments or additions to a football game? Ive said it before, and Ill say it again. Screw EA!!!

Hardly asking too much. Why pay $50 for roster updates when most have them for free download. At the very least, charge us for the roster updates and then create a full game every few years with actual improvements in it. Thats the main reason I wait at least a year between NFL titles. I can get the roster updates free for the most part as DL content. Then when there are enough game enhancements I pick up a new copy. Now that EA has controll of all football, however, I won't be buying any titles because I enjoy the 2K series much more. That and I know that EA will swing the price in the opposite direction of the $20 titles from this year. Im definately not going to pay MORE for a yearly release. BTW, I don't know where some of you have been, but at least Sega has DL rosters on XBOX LIVE. Exteremely nice feature. Not to mention if you are really desperate, get Action replay and get them for all games for free. I still see no reason for a yearly release unless they are going to make serious enhancements to gameplay, graphics and content.

If we saw huge improvements each year, I could understand $50. But considering its usually just and update not a true sequel, I cant justify the $50 yearly. At least Sega dropped to the $20 price tag.

I paid more for LE games with two discs worth of content. Otherwise I refuse to pay more than $50 for a title no matter the quality. Activision and EA will be the first to push +$60 titles, and they are the worst two offenders of constent shovel ware. Even AAA titles at $60+ will sell slower than normal especially if they hit $70. Im a big supporter of current gen games, and I know personally Ill simply buy less and wait for used even more than I already do. I think you will see EA and Activision try and sell games for more, but ultimately fail and come back down to realistic prices. My bigger complaint is EA buying up more and more of the market. We aren't talking operating systems here, we are talking about end products. EA has failed to consistently show innovation and quality. Sure they have had a small few that were good titles, but plenty that weren't. Hardly what anyone would call consistent, and worthy of leading an industry.

Now that Philly is in the fall and I won't be able to make it... Is there any word on Cinnciclassic??? Only 3.5 hours and we will still be in the area???

Wow, this went down hill quick. Personally, Ill be waiting for the new Gameboy and a serious price drop for the PSP. The DS, doesn't play 3D games well without an analog stick. Ive played a few of the 3D games now and Im set in my opinion. Mario 64 DS wasn't half the game of the original without an analog stick. So if all Im stuck with is 2D, my SP works wonderfully except for using my high quality headphones. Ill stick with it until the PSP hits a normal portable price. It has more titles I want. I hope both Nintendo and sony succede in the market because they appeal to two different groups. However, I think the DS is a gimmick to keep Nintendo in the game while they develop a true gameboy replacement that doesn't fail. I could care less if the DS fails because there arent any must have games for me. I say bring on a real gameboy replacement and let it play Gamecube games. The disks are small after all....

Well if there wasn't enough reason for me to hate EA, here is some more. 6 year exclusive to NCAA college football... At this point I wonder if EA is going to charge $60 or $70 for their games next generation??? More Exclusives!!!

No, the bad thing, when it sells for $100, they are going to think all 2600 carts should sell in that range...

5 Years ago, no problems finding all kinds of stuff. Now, just about nothing. Living in a small town with at least one ebay reseller kinds kills any chance of finding stuff. I did make out a few weeks ago and found two boxed controllers, a 4 switch two driving controllers and a bunch of games including Mario Brothers for $22. Found a few common red labels the next week for $1 a pop. All the good stuff was gone long ago. One local flea market vender had about 1000 carts at one point about 5 years ago. I got back from a semester at college and they were all gone.... As a poor college student I didnt have the $$$ to buy all the carts I needed at $4 a pop.. Oh well, I have them now. Well many of them at least.

All NES games here are under $10... Buy 2 get one free and you get them for even less.

I bought my GC mainly in hopes to play Perfect Dark 2. Wasn't all that happy when rare "defected" (LOL just kidding). Seriously though, I don't think it's a good call to buy consoles based on promised yet to be released titles. Good thing you didn't buy an XBOX for PD0 either. Looks to be shaping up to be a XBOX 2 launch title... Sorry about your luck loosing RARE though...

I usually wait for the first price drop and the library to increase, but if the hardware provides something that is important, Im there. If the PSP had serious MP3 storage, Id have been in line. Ill be sure to get the XBOX 2 at launch though...

Yeah, thats what I meant. Should have said at the launch price of the console. My bad. Im interested in seeing the motivation behind buying a console at launch.

Having seen the recent launch of the DS and the PSP, with the upcoming launch of the new XBOX, I got to wondering why so many buy at launch. Is it the launch titles? Or one specific title that sells you? Is it having the latest and greatest??? Is it the new technolgy available that makes it worth having right away?? IE, wireless, Harddrive, Backwards compatability??? Is it the lineup of future titles??? I continue to find it hard to justify the extra $100+ you pay at launch when I can wait 6 months to a year and have a better library available and save the money on the console. Not to mention a better idea of what the console shapes up to be.

Yeah, the employees at my local EB seem to be tired of pushing the warrenty also. The sad thing is seeing someone pay for the warrenty for a game... Who really treats a $50 DVD game that poorly that you would need a warrenty???? Having said that, I have seen some games that looked chewed up, litterally. My biggest thing is the un-shrinkwrapped "NEW" game that they pull out of a drawer in a paper sleeve... That one gets me a bit fired up. Our other EB has NES games, and sometimes 2 get 1 free so that makes up for it in spades.

Mario has to be the king of this club. Look at how many times he has pimped himself out to make a buck... Golf Tennis Dr. Mario Paper Mario ....

The only thing Id change is the used games without the actual cases. Otherwise I love the place, and the buy 2 get one free on the used games. I can almost always count on getting the latest games used within a week of release at EB. Until the mom and pops get better pricing Ill be sticking to EB and Gamestop. Sorry you had a bad experience. Oh the other thing I HATE about EB, is the "NEW" games that arrive in paper sleeves and un sealed cases????? Usually I ask for a sealed copy though.

I can understand that, and EA is one of the few who have the $$$ to put the real voices and faces in a game. However, EON still isn't a AAA title. Ive played through EON, and my brother loves it, but its hadly a classic. Just another semi enjoyable, beat it and shelve it title for me. No real replay value. After playing the new Goldeneye I have zero faith in EA. Wow, they could have revamped the first goldeneye and had a better game. Hardly comparable to other current titles with the same budget. Not even close in any way at all. But I digress, the only EA game I would buy new would be the tiger woods franchise, and thats because it has more courses to choose from compared to the competition which has better graphics and online options. At this point I have zero plans to ever buy an EA title again. If they start treating employees correctly, and start using each console to its fullest ability then maybe Ill change my mind. That and when they stop buying up the competition only to produce more shovelware.

There are pictures of a mini keyboard floating around the net. I think its from japan. They are releasing an official browser also. I would imagine use of a USB keyboard will happen in the future also.

EON was playable at best, hardly a AAA title however. Its a shame because given proper developer talent, Bond would make for some seriously fun games. Look at how much fun Goldeneye is on the N64. Think about all the neat technology in the various storylines. The problem is the cost of the liscence, and EA has the $$$. Stuck in mediocracy. Adding real faces and real voice talent hasn't proven to improve the game experience either. EA already tried hiring the actual movie talent and faces to no real success.

EA = Automatic Pass My brother bought me the new Goldeneye for Xmas, and all I have to say is WOW.... Talk about bad gameplay, technology, use of a franchise. Unless this new game gets tremedous reviews and feed back from actual gamers rather than reviewers, Ill be passing for sure. EA has more or less managed to kill the Bond name. Its a shame a better developer couldn't get their hands on the liscence and make another quality title. Yes, some of the other current gen Bond titles are passible, but harldy top notch like 007 was, and what the liscense deserves.
