Lot of interesting things in the catalogs! I don't think I've ever seen one of these before.

  2. I want to cut a hole in in the case of the T1000 so I can mount the new keyboard inside and lay the membrane against it. so we get the click of the buttons but the flush of the original keyboard. The last thing I need to replace is the voltage regulator. I want to go with a new more efficient one. to well drop the heat sink on that bad boy.

  3. Yeah I did the Composite video mod so I could use it on a B&W security monitor I picked up. It looks really well but I'm at a stand still!. I'm making a new keyboard for my Timex 1000 with some actual buttons!

I've got the buttons put in a way where they all sit right under the same keys as the membrane! Since I've already messed the heck out of this computer and I've got a working NTSC zx81 I was thinking about cutting a hole in the case to mount the new keyboard..... OR! Make it's on wooden case as a joke. like an Apple I!

  4. It's not that I'm bored... I just can't be bothered to drag them out of their boxes and set them up. I've got the original boxes for most of my computers and I like to keep em in there when I'm not using them. Pulling them out of the pink sleeves unwrapping the power bricks for both the disk drive and computer. Just a big chore.

That and I'm slowly working on repairing the one I really want to play with... but I can't until I get it done!

    Woo.

  5. Thanks Papa-Bear. I appreciate the advise.

If I get one, hope you don't mind me bothering you with a question or two.

Ask away because I don't know too much about it lol.

  6. Man, that place is the place for ZX/Timex Stuff.

I got my zxpander plug in from them, and it is incredible what can be done on my little T/S1000 now.

I've got the reverse video composite mod from them, and the zxpand unit. With those two and a old Apple 2c monochrome 9 inch monitor I feel like its 1981 all the time!

Games and even BBS's look great in the proper green letter on black screen (as opposed to black letter on green screen) and the zxpand is like a hard drive. I have every zx file I've ever found + all the ones I made myself over the years at my finger tips with out a dang tape deck in sight. The menu system is better than anything!

Yes I spent more $$ than I wanted to to get this setup, but its been worth it.

Wait! There is zx81 BBS's? Tell me more!

  7. If you do get your hands on one it is a wise idea to replace the power regulator and the keyboard. A good lot of those are dead with age.

I personally modded mine to have composite video so it'd work on any TV

  8. Hey I've been on the hunt for more american zx81/ts1000 software and other addons!

I haven't seen any major discussion of dissection of these two computers in the united states mostly from across the pond.

I've got an NTSC zx81 in my possession!

It's a fine computer to play with but I can't seem to find any sort of programs for it or ram packs for it here in the US

I'm also working on a Frankenstein Timex Sinclair 1000 with a new handmade keyboard using tac switches as well as modding it to display composite video! I've got a nice B/W composite security monitor I want to use it on.

I'm hoping to find or learn about things made for the TS1000. Printers, peripherals, games, controllers! Anything and everything you guys know about,

Also I might need a new TS1000 if I butcher this one with my mod
