  1. I thought I'd put these into the programmer section as I presume not many ppl will browse my entire source repo in seek of information: HCM Converter examples and sources: About HCM: https://bitbucket.org/sandor-hard/reharden/src/master/HCM.md Converter Sources (Java): https://bitbucket.org/sandor-hard/hcm-converter Viewer Example (Atari): https://bitbucket.org/sandor-hard/hcm-viewer-example The (VERY) experimental HARDBASS tracker I made for Android looks like this: About HARDBASS: https://bitbucket.org/sandor-hard/reharden/src/master/HARDBASS.md Tracker Sources (Android): https://bitbucket.org/sandor-hard/hardbass-tracker-android Player Example (Atari): https://bitbucket.org/sandor-hard/hardbass-player-example
  2. Haha, If the cat gets used to it, it's acceptable quality
  3. Well, since I got that 130 XE and 1702 you know about, I got myself an XL via ebay and shipped over my old XL from my home country that I used to finish Joyride. (it worked after 22 years!) I also got approx 10 different Sony & JVC monitors (and a Vista CCTV monitor). All I can say is: 50% of these screens do that nasty shadowing effect against all computers (UAV or no UAV; Atari or Commodore, doesn't matter). That's appalling actually. The other 50% of the screens do a great job, even against my old XL with no mods whatsoever. No shadowing, nothing. Just those sort of milder patterns issues that UAV resolves anyways. So the screens are at a much bigger fault in this situation in my opinion than the computers. And it's not about the price or brand either. Some PVMs were really bad and that cheap Vista is actually decent. The best was the JVC 15" (I have a few of those now; you have a 13" JVC AFAIK - great monitors).
  4. Actually to give you some back story about my ordeals, I stopped coding after like 3 weeks of work in October 2016 (when I had the HCM and HARDBASS engines working already). I got so disappointed in the video quality on all my displays. Then I only picked it up again in around August/September 2017 when I finally realized I had to get Sony & JVC PVMs instead of trying to fix the computers Now that I have proper displays, I also see the difference UAV did to my 130 XE!
  5. That's great to hear, thanks! I only got as far in the (unofficial) live stream as the 1st 3 Atari 2600 entries (which were great!) then I had to leave for the whole night / no internet. Can't wait to find some time with a good screen / nice sound to watch all the releases on all platforms.
  6. And that's exactly why I felt I need to release! To stimulate things so that I can sit back and watch a lot of great new productions
  7. HARDBASS is more like a subwoofer than a general purpose synth. It'll only bring to the tune what Pokey doesn't. You'll need better speakers than the PVM ones to hear what it's made for. Average quality/cheap headphones will do, but cheap speakers won't in my experience.
  8. Sorry about that. I only ever worked against PAL requirements.
  9. The bass in the video is not the type I prefer, but the first 1-2 seconds have that modulated sound which I think is very cool and should be used a lot.
  10. Thank you! Well, there's no compression used at all. It's just plain and simple loading. ...we had Tamas' famous loader that played my 2 chl Benjy tunes in '93 & '95, so I said a HARD demo 22 years later can afford to have a plain loader If I had more spare time, I would have used compression to squeeze more out of the 64K, but I had to draw the line somewhere to avoid a never-ending project.
  11. Yes, it's for PWM bass specifically. At this low sample rate other waveforms wouldn't work. Even PWM is very limited, but it's good enough to bring something new to the table at an affordable cost. If you're interested, you might want to read the HARDBASS "docs" I posted into the REHARDEN source repo.
  12. Hi there! That twister-scroller is not supposed to be pixel-perfect, it's supposed to be very small. I only gave it 5K of memory, so it's optimized into a single 1K font + 4K "screen data". It means that most of the characters that would have been needed are substituted with something similar instead. I posted the source code of the tool I wrote for this as well. (no snow here, just rain/ice/etc...)
  13. Hi Guys, only the SV organizers had the ATR up until now. Please find the sources (REHARDEN / HARDBASS / HCM / experimental converters / tracker / tools) at: https://bitbucket.org/sandor-hard/ The ATR is in the REHARDEN source repo. Thanks!
  14. Thank you It's very nice to see that there's still people who remember us. These days - apart from my daytime job - I have a nostalgia attack apparently Heaven / TQA was teasing me with A8 stuff for a year or two via email and then I ran into Wieczor / Lamers unexpectedly who started teasing me too. So I got this Atari and and I'm trying to get it working properly. The picture quality is appalling so I'm on the waiting for the UAV mod from Bryan. I'm hoping it'll sort it out.
  15. Thank you Stephen for your kind words! The main challenge is time. It was so much easier to find the time for all this when I was a teenager. BTW, the last time I saw an Atari or Atari code I was exactly half my current age (20=>40) Anyways, I'd love to speed up on all this once again and do something short and sweet. Can't say when, but I want to believe that it could happen some time in the future.
  16. Wow, thanks guys! When I opened it, I told my son that I think this was never opened before as even those little twisted metal parts that hold the shielding&motherboard together seemed untouched. Then I saw the cables and thought the opposite
  17. Hi guys, I got myself an Atari 130 XE recently (after a 20 year gap) and I finally found the time to open it to see the conditions inside. I found a couple of hacky looking wires in there and I haven't a clue what do these fix / improve. Can someone here recognize it as a typical mod / fix? Thanks for any comments!
  18. Hi Bryan, I'd like to get a Plug-In unit for a PAL 130 XE if possible. Regards, Sandor
  19. Hello, This looks like a very nice piece of upgrade that preserves the retro feel of the picture. I got myself a 130 XE (PAL) recently. (only interested in 64K of it though ) Is it possible for me to get this mod for it? I'd really appreciate a PM with the details. Thank you.
