Why does every router I get just decide to stop working out of the blue every few months? Nothing like spending 2 hours of your morning as "IT guy." I still don't know what's wrong.
Supposedly they run VERY hot inside, so a cheaper model with inferior cooling might have a limited lifespan. I'm on my fourth router at home in 12 years of time, though some of the ones I've used were crap branded ones I bought cheap second hand.
A reboot didn't fix it? In my personal experience, home network equipment hardware is strong, but sometimes the software can't keep up. I have heard of people scheduling restarts in the middle of the night for persistent problems.
Reboot has generally fixed similar issues for me in the past. This time, neither of my routers works after multiple attempts rebooting everything. Just frustrated... not the way I wanted to spend my morning.
