Rewatched the Hobbit trilogy again for the first time in a while. Outside of a handful of really annoying and useless scenes, I enjoyed it quite a bit more than I remembered at the time.

Hopes were so High, Given how he Nailed the Lord of the Rings...But...Well Prequel-itus got him I guess...I didn't hate it, but for every cool addition to the story (Tying it back to LOTR, for example) you had long, often ridiculous overdone Hollywood sequences, like the dancing on the barrels, not falling in the water, or the wizard with bird crap in his hair, or orcs defying gravity...(I wanted to like it so much).

As a huge PJ fan and Tolkien lover, I agree with both above sentiments. They're not as good as the LOTR trilogy, but they're not half bad as movies go either. A lot of love was put into the Hobbit trilogy...but a lot of obvious longing to prolong the LOTR experience for the filmmakers too. BydoEmpire, you have caused me to commit to watching this trilogy soon. And probably LOTR extended cuts again also. So there's about 20 hours of my free time gone lol

I tend to watch movies 20-30 minutes at a time here or there, so it takes me a long time to get through. I tried to do a LotR extended cut marathon a month or two ago. I got halfway through Two Towers and stopped. I'll get back to it one of these days, but I've seen them all so many times it felt like I needed to get something else in the queue.
