I don't know, maybe Fireworld. I've never really been good at it, and it would probably take me a LONG time to beat without the instructions or the comic. Plus, it's a bunch of games in one!

There's a Fugees song on The Score where Lauren raps: "Play you out like Atari, sacrifice you Hari Kari, and I'm sorry..." She also mention the Colecovision in a different song.

I have a lot of ps2 games I need to catch up on, but every time I play a new game i have to spend a few painful minutes deciding what to delete to make space because I refuse to buy another ps2 card. I finally bought a cube 1000 block memory card a few months ago. Which kind of sucks this late in the system's life, but I've been doing a lot of cube gaming and I'm sick of shuffling my teeny tiny Cube cards around, trying to remember what's stored where. I don't hate them because I lose them, but there are lots of other reasons. I guess that's one good thing about the "next gen" - everyone will have some form of mass storage (assuming you can save wii games to the 512 megs of flash ram).

Hillary Clinton calls for federal game violence study
BydoEmpire replied to 8th lutz's topic in Modern Console Discussion
On the other hand, if they find "once and for all" no link between games and violent behaviour, then the issue can finally drop. Not that I expect that to happen. Doing a study like this doesn't really bother me. -
The Dreamcast's Dpad is just SOOOOOO floaty. I love Third Strike and Capcom vs. SNK but the freaking DC's dpad makes them overly frustrating. The "inward" pointing grips don't help my wrists, either. There are many reasons I dislike the DC controllers (although I love the system), but the wire coming out of the bottom has never bothered me. I think I had the system a couple years before even noticing that.

Wow, that's cool. I knew I couldn't be the only one, but I didn't know there was a term for it. Although I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore collector...

The Epyx 500xj was my favorite 2600/c64/Amiga joystick by far. The Colecovision Super Action controller is also really comfotable and functional. For 16-bit systems the SNES standard pad is about as perfect as you can get. All buttons easily accesible, super tight dpad, comfortable size.

Downloadable GBC games you could transfer to the DS would be awesome! -
What systems should nintendo's virtual console included?
BydoEmpire replied to 8th lutz's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I would like to see Neo Geo because it's something everyone wanted, but so few people could actually buy. WiiMAME? -
Really? Sweet! I have two Xboxs. My older one has been giving me a lot of dirty disc errors. Maybe it's time to trade that sucker in.

Hudson declares 100 games for nintendo's virtual console
BydoEmpire replied to 8th lutz's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Wow, awesome. That' s a lot of games. Nintendo has not announced a price, but hte supposed EGM info is that NES games will be about $1-5, SNES ~$5-10 and n64 $10-$15. Until I hear it from Nintendo, it's all rumor and speculation. Personally, I want to pay once for each game and own it, I'm not interested in monthly subscriptions. Other folks like subscription models, so maybe Nintendo will offer both and cover their bases. -
The line to play the Wii: In past years I waited in line for the Halo 2 trailer. The Doom 3 demo. Socom's online demo. Numberous Nintendo offerings. And even put together, they're not as long as the the line for the Wii. Crazy!
-
Heh, I agree. I've been holding off on a 360, but Oblivion came out, Live Arcade is getting more and more games, now all these free demos and trailers... so... hard... to... resist... I'm a sucker for trailers.
-
That pretty surprising, they made a big deal about 'playing is believing' at their press conference. I would have expected playable systems on the floor. At the cube launch E3 there were long lines for everything, but you could still get your hands on everything without *too* much hastle.

The cool thing about the Wii is that it really gives any game the potential to be new and fun. I'd never buy a Tony Hawk game. But I'm sure curious about the Wii version. I like Madden, but I'm kind of burned out. If the Wii version plays well, though, I'm in. It also has the potential to fix gameplay mechanics that didn't work so well before. For example, I thought Mario Sunshine was pretty disappointing. But I could definitely see it controlling well with the wand. Just point and spray! Madden's QB vision was not very playable. But it would be perfect with the wand - almost a mouse-look type system. Not that either of these are actually going to happen... I was a little disappointed with the lack of concrete details and pricing for the virtual console (or the Wii itself, for that matter). But the announcement of so many killer games makes up for it.

Yeah, I was interested in ps3 exclusives before. Some of the titles looked pretty cool. But not for $600. I'll be a Wii-Sixy owner this generation. Wii when it launches, and 360 next year some time (after a price drop, a couple of killer must-have games, or both).
-
Man, the first half of that press conference was a real snoozer. In Sony's defense, at least they showed some decent looking original games (Insomniac's FPS, Genji, the EyeToy card game, etc). It looked like their online system was at least somewhat thought out. On the other hand, lots of stuff still seemed thrown together just for the show, which makes you wonder where they're really at. And the price is just too rich for my blood. I'm definitely waiting on both the 360 and ps3 until a price drop or two and a few must-have games. The press conference did nothing to change my mind about that.

*Rumor* Kid Icarus Revolution concept art?
BydoEmpire replied to Atariboy2600's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm not holding my breath, but it would be awesome if true. I played the heck out of Kid Icarus back in the day. Great game. -
Name This Game and Shark! Shark! are my two favorites.

Whats the best place to get a refurbished Saturn online?
BydoEmpire replied to Lacan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Not specifically refurbed, but you can get a saturn from $25 at http://www.vintagefunworld.com/. I've had good luck ordering Genny stuff from them. -
Opinions on Modern Gaming?
BydoEmpire replied to RickHarrisMaine's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Either the Cube or DC would be great choices. The Cube actually has more sonic choices due to the Sonic compilations. The DC has a great homebrew and emulator scene. The Cube's library is quite a bit bigger, though. -
Need help finding Game Genie codes for NES Conan
BydoEmpire replied to ILA2600's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hm, I didn't even know there was a NES Conan game. As a Conan whore, I must now scour Flea World and ebay until it's mine. -
Introducing: The Nintendo Wii
BydoEmpire replied to King_Salamon's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm buying a Nintendo Wii (or whatever it's called) on day 1. Nintendo has never disappointed me before, and I don't expect them to this time around. But the name is terrible. It will turn off far more people than it attracts, imho. Still, the games are what matters, and if Nintendo really delivers above and beyond, the funny name will not matter much. -
I like the real thing. Part of the fun is having the cartridges, the original controllers, sitting on the couch playing on a TV. The games never looks as good to me on a monitor - i like how the tv fuzzes things out a bit. Emulators are nice on a practical level - try before you buy, or to try out things you can't afford or find. If I had a gp32x I could see playing a lot of mame or frodo on there. I use both, but 95% of my gaming is on the real thing.
