Had literally 5 minutes to find the rom and play. Didn't finish my game, but wanted to post something to get on the board. Fun game, but those bats are brutal! [edit] urg, score doesn't show up when paused.. that's frustrating. Oh well, it was around 7,800 but I'll be posting more scores later anyways.

A game I've never played, and only randomly stumbled upon while browsing "best SMS games" lists. Perhaps Sega's answer to Castlevania... What the heck, let's give it a shot, it's Vampire: Master of Darkness. Looks pretty cool, I'm anxious to give it a go. Bonus Point: play Bram Stoker's Dracula - a game I think is actually pretty decent, although I've never put much time into it. I never owned a Jag, but I do regret not buying one. They were in a discount electronics catalog (Datel?) around 2000 for $50 with three games, including Iron Soldier. I should have jumped on that.

I think you only get them for one race, but I'm not sure. The suspension is pretty critical on some stages. I do like the engine upgrade for a few courses, but not 5&10 - too easy to crash.

I had a great run last night! I don't know how I didn't finish the 10th race, I didn't crash or die, just ran out of time partway through the race. I'm going to try a unique scoring system for this round, and we'll play one of my all-time favorite SMS games: Enduro Racer! The best time for each race gets the point. If nobody manages to get to later racers, those points will roll over to the bonus game: Hang On, LEVEL 3 For example, someone manages to get through courses 1-6. Six points are awarded for Enduro Racer. It could be to six different players, it could be all to the same person. The remaining 4 points will be given to the top 4 scores in Hang On. +1 bonus point will be given to everyone who plays both games. If someone managers to complete all ten courses in Enduro Racer, then there will be no "extra" bonus for Hang On Scores. Remember: NO CONTINUES. Be sure to play Hang On at level 3. In order to get ten points this round, you'd have to have the best time in each course in Enduro Racer, and have the top Hang On score. I'm not sure how this will balance out, but we'll see. Any strategies for that first boss? Does it help to have a specific weapon? Do the bombs do anything against him? I can dodge the seeds for a while, but eventually they always get me.

Got in a few games of Fantasy Zone this evening. One of those games I enjoy even though I stink at it. I got a slightly higher score after this, but wouldn't make any difference.

I'm really digging this game! 43,290. I tried starting on a couple of later levels and they're tough.

It doesn't matter to me, start on any planet. More variety. If there are scoring advantages to one over another, well, that's for the players to discover!

I don't own nearly as many as I'd like. Of the ones I own (counting 1942 since it's rom-only) Dungeon Stalker Pac Man Collection 1942 Frenzy Wizard's Dungeon (slight bias) Super Pac Man K.C. Munchkin Beef Drop: VE T:ME Salvo! Scramble All of these are good games and worth getting. I really want to get EXO, Galaxian, Baby Pac Man, Super Circus Atari, Meteor Shower, Bentley Bear's Crystal Quest... there's a long list. They all seem top 10-worthy but I didn't rate them because I down own them and haven't put in enough time with preview / rom versions.

Moving onward into the Winter/Spring round, let's stay arcadey. Here's another game i always wanted to try but never have: Fantasy Zone The Maze. Seems like a fun title, and I'm looking forward to getting to know it better. I need to read the directions for Cloud Master... no idea how the power up system works. Extra Michael Chen's number of lives increase by one.

Squeezed in a game of Alex Kidd in Shinobi World just to get on the board, but just re-learning the game. I haven't played this in forever, I want to get a few rounds in on the actual cart. I've gotten to the 4th stage but I've never beaten it. Maybe this is the week... I tried a couple games of Cloud Master on my DS emulator, but it was rough. The screen is too small for me to play well and track everything, I didn't even make it to the first boss.
