  1. That's awesome, congrats on getting it going.
  2. I tried again on Saturday, but couldn't top 4k. I swear I used to be better at this, but I really suck now. On the plus side, Berzerk is one of a very few games that I still really enjoy even though I'm terrible at it.
  3. Thinking about playing some 2600 this weekend.

Do, or do not. There is no think.

I'll have to get back to you on Monday. :)

  4. My parents would hide the JC Penny and Sears catalogs until after Halloween. It was always a game for my brother, sister and I to scour the house in September and October to try to find the catalog. We did find it a couple years.
  5. I always thought Airlock by Data Age was the worst game I owned. It's pretty bad, and I always held it against Data Age, until recently I picked up some of their other games which I enjoyed. For the record, I like the Swordquest games and 2600 Pac Man. Not a big fan of ET but it's not *that* bad.
  6. I have one with Tiger Casino and Williams Arcade Classics. Kay Bee was blowing them out cheap a long time ago, so I picked it up. I dind't think it was *that* bad a system, but I rarely play handhelds...
  7. I really enjoyed the system - tons of great games, and a super comfortable controller. I think people forget there was actually a lot of 3rd party support for most of the system's life. Tons of big name 3rd party games saw release on ps2, xbox AND GC.
  8. I do like it when Flea Markets undercharge. My favorite spot has $1 Atari games, and B2G1F on all 8 and 16 bit carts, every day. I went this weekend and picked up Afterburner 2 for the Genny, Space Chase (Apollo, 2600) and Journey Escape (Data Age, 2600) for a whopping $2.12. Afterburner 2 was labelled $2.99, but he gave me the whole lot for two bucks. Good stuff.
  9. Picked up Journey Escape (Data Age, 2600), Space Chase (Apollo, 2600) and Afterburner 2 (Genny) for a grand total of $2.12 at Flea World.

  10. Not a big fan. I finished it only because I happened to have a guide in a magazine that got me through. Didn't like the mechanics, the premise, the characters, the cameras, the level design. It's kind of silly, but what really bugged me is that the whole point is that you're supposed to be getting these shines to save the village, so then you go on all these missions to collect shines - from the villagers. It seems weird. It just seemed slopped together, like a generic platformer with Mario branding. Obviously that's not what it was, but it felt like it. I actually started replaying it last year when my niece and nephew visited and my prior impressions were confirmed. Didn't like it then, don't like it now. Graphics are gorgeous, though.
  11. Played a couple games: 22,100. I'll upload a pic if I don't do better. Stupid tanks got me.
  12. I love the Gold Box games, but I never finished any of them. I don't know if I ever finished any computer RPG. Sunk lots of good hours into them, though... I actually went back and started replaying Pool of Radiance on the Amiga last year, and was pleasantly surprised how well it held up and how fun it was. [Edit] - Actually, another thread reminded me that I did finish Dungeon Master on the Amiga. Great game!
  13. Love the 5200 version of Moon Patrol. Hopefully I can get more free time in the next couple weeks than I've had lately.
  14. Finished another DragonLance book - "Kindred Spirits" the first of six "Meetings" spinoffs. Five more to go...

Wow, I remember reading the first three of those "Meetings" books twenty years ago! Never did read the second trilogy, but I did read the new Weis/Hickman books when they eventually came out.

  15. Looks great, I'd love to see more of this style game. When the Mac version comes out, I'm definitely on board. +1
  16. At work, eating a falafel sandwich, listening to Steve Vai, and writing Performance Reviews for my team. Good stuff.

  17. Yep, great time for computing - my favorite games and computers are all from the 80s. It was a period of great innovation and excitement.
  18. I'm guessing it was either Dragon Warrior on the NES or Miracle Warriors on the SMS. I played a lot of RPGs on the c64 and Apple ][ (Bard's Tale, Might & Magic, Gold Box games, etc), but never finished any of them. I had to call the Sega help line to finish Miracle Warriors - the final dungeon was hidden in the desert without any markings. You had to do something like leave a town, go up 8 and left 4 squares then search. I don't know how anyone could have found it without help.
  19. Yes, because I like the Swordquest games!!! Liked them back in the day, still like them now.
  20. I thought of you when I read this article. I don't know if you ever visit Gamasutra, let alone post there, but it seems the misinformation continues:http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/168539/Computer_pioneer_Jack_Tramiel_relied_on_then_dismissed_video_games.php
  21. Football, because it's the only sport I care about video game or not. Like Billy, I don't really consider racing a sports game, but would certainly be up there.
  22. Yay, generic action game #238140. I'll take the slow pace, tank controls and a healthy dose of puzzles in classic RE games, thanks.
  23. I prefer one or the other depending on the type of game and the system, but I can use either. Since I'm playing mostly pre-crash stuff these days, I like the stick. Playing those types of arcade games with a pad doesn't feel right, and is often a lot harder for me than a stick. I usually use the NES Advantage on my NES, and an arcade stick on the Genny. I use the stock SMS pads on my Master System, though. Whatever floats your boat. One type of game I definitely prefer a dpad on is classic 2D fighters. I never played them much in the arcade, but played a TON of SF2, MK2 and others on consoles so that's what I got used to. I find it much easier and ergonomic than an arcade stick w/ six buttons. Probably in the minority here, but it works for me.
