Finally got my Pinbot cart to work on the NES. What a great video pin!
-
Got a few rounds in today: 37,600.

Can't wait!

Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is the best gun game ever - looks awesome, tons of depth, pretty challenging. Dead Space: Extraction is an excellent game in its own right, and a really unique take on the light gun genre. I liked HotD: Overkill as well - it was fun, but not great. Haven't played the others.

Completed my collection of original 5200 carts!

Congrats! -
Pretty terrible at Dig Dug to begin with, and I was only able to squeeze in one game but I figured I might as well get on the board. 15,300

Yes that should NOT be allowed... no camp Crystal Penging...! In fact I'd go further and dismiss the old Pengo score record, if they "kicked walls" to get their score up... Agreed, that kind of cheesing should NOT be allowed.

A few weeks ago I picked up Super Sprint and Pinbot for the NES at Game Traders. Can't get either one to start up. I'm sure they need a good cleaning, but I replaced my 72 pin a few years ago and while a lot of games have been touchy, I haven't had much trouble getting them to run. Tempted to take them back, but I'm hoping a cleaning will work (or I'll try them again if I get a NES clone at some point).

I have an Apple 2 hooked up, but almost no software. My XEGS is ready to go, but only about a dozen carts. C64 in the closet. I would normally have voted Space Dungeon - I definitely want to play it in the HSC, but I went with Pengo this time around. I just haven't played it in a long time.

I would like to be able to do this, but I would have to sit out most of the season. My 5200 collection is still rather small, so I need to use emulators for games I don't have. I'm in this boat, too. I always prefer to play on original hardware - that's half the fun - but if I don't have the game I'll play on an emulator because it's my only choice and I'd rather participate than not. Case in point: Dig Dug.

I've had great luck with atari2600.com - good prices and fast shipping. I ordered a few things from the Goat Store as well a few years ago, and it was good.

The 5200 version of Pac Man is my favorite home console port. It controls perfectly with the stock 5200 sticks. I've never lost a life because of the controls, which is more than I can say for the 2600 or Inty versions. That said: Star Raiders, Berzerk, Miner 2049er, River Raid, Super Breakout, Qix...

Got a few more games this morning. Almost beat level 5 - I had two small platforms on the left and missed a jump.
-
I'm in! Can I have dual citizenship w/ the Intellivision Brotherhood, though?
-
Voting Space Dungeon since I just got the cart for Christmas!
-
Seconded! I didn't have a 5200 back in the day. I picked mine up a few years ago, but it quickly became a favorite. Great games - that's why I bother!

I made it to level 5 for the first time today. There are two tricky platforms. The small one in the top, middle of the screen you need to approach from the left - run and jump as one foot is over the edge. The other tricky one is the small one on the left side of the screen. I'm not sure there's a way off of it, so I saved it for last and fell (not jumped) onto it from above. 21,875 - didn't take a pic because I know I can do a lot better.
-
I haven't played it in a little while (too long!), but I know I've never gotten a very good rating.

Let's Talk Burgertime (Burgertime Appreciation)
BydoEmpire replied to IntellivisionDude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I love Burgertime, with the Inty version being my favorite version. I recently picked up Diner as well, and it's cool! I also recently picked up Burgertime for the NES and I love the look of it, but man, is it tough! Never even made it past the second level. -
My thoughts exactly, and I'd consider that general hardware spec a classic computer even if it's not one specific machine. Agreed 100%. I grew up with the Commodore 64, and when I got my first job I saved all summer to buy an Amiga 500. Truly classic computers, and fantastic eras for computer gaming. If I had to pick a favorite decade of gaming in general it'd be the 80s without question. However, the early-mid 90s - when VGA and SoundBlaster were standard but before 3D cards arrived - was also an amazing time. There were just SO many games, in so many genres, and so much quality stuff. Especially if you were an RPG, strategy or sim fan. You had all the depth of 80s titles, with the added benefit of a hard drive. PCs didn't do action games as well, but everything else was great. I was flipping through an old Dragon magazine from about 1994, and there were about four RPGs from SSI alone, not to mention from Psygnosis and other smaller publishers. I love that era of PC gaming. Every publisher was going nuts, and some of the best computer games of all time were written.

Lately I've been getting a little frustrated with the tight fit of my NES's replaced 72-pin, and that a lot of carts still don't work reliably. I'm considering picking up a NES clone like the Generation NEX. I'm not too concerned with perfect emulation, I'll still have my original NES, I just want the games to work more reliably and not be such a pain to get in and out of the unit. I'd also like to keep using my NES controllers (particularly the NES Advantage, which is one of my favorite joysticks ever). Any recommendations?
