  1. The stock SMS pads just feel right to me, and I never had a problem controlling any games with them. To be honest, though, I've never owned the Control Stick. Looks cool.
  2. Okay, I suck, this one's on me. I actually have a 2nd gen iTouch. That's odd, I swear I had a 3rd gen. They certainly don't make it obvious which version it is.
  3. Hard to pick just 3 favorite DC games, but here goes: Phantasy Star Online - in my top 5 games of all time. Pretty much perfect in all respects. Skies of Arcadia - fantastic RPG with unique ship-to-ship battles, a fun story, and just a great game all around. One of my all-time favorite RPGs. Shenmue 2 - just epic. It fixed some of the annoying bits of the first game, which I still liked. Gorgeous game and a fun story to play through. [Edit] I can't resist some runners up: Metropolis Street Racer is the last racer I ever got into. It's just a masterpiece. Tons of fun, and better (imho) than any of the billion sequels it spawned. Capcom vs. SNK 2 is one of the greatest fighters ever. Mars Matrix is a super addicting shmup, and the only 'bullet hell' shmup I ever liked. Crazy Taxi - another super fun 'pick up and play' game. The sequel is also a blast. Different Strokes for different folks, but I just hated Sonic Adventure. I tried multiple times over several years to get into it, but it's just a buggy, confusing mess of a game. I liked SA2 a lot better, but that's just me.
  4. Boo - not compatible with my iPod Touch, even though the description says "iTouch (3rd gen)". Not blaming you as a dev, but it's getting frustrating because this has been happening all the time. Apple needs a better way of checking device compatibility. I mean, it's only a buck so it's not a huge deal, but this has happened a bunch of times now.
  5. That looks great - I'll definitely pick it up.
  6. Good stuff. The comparison of the width of the c64 box vs. ipad was hilarious. c64 wins on games, hands down!
  7. has officially moved from engineering into management. I feel the power of the Dark Side!!!!

I did that too and began five of the most miserable years of my life.

Congrats hope it works out for you.

  8. Congrats Fixitguy74 - hopefully many more to come.

  9. I was tempted to go w/ Pac Mania, but I haven't played 5200 Pole Position in ages so I went with that. I remember not liking the port all that much, but this would be a good opportunity to put it through its paces. Something different. [Edit] Oops, I guess I missed the cutoff. Oh well, maybe Pole Position will show up in the future.
  10. Sick toddler, sick wife = no sleep!

  11. Panzer Dragoon Saga on the Saturn. Paid about $120. Sold it for about the same amount a few years later so it worked out fine. Great, great game. For new games, probably Final Fantasy III on the SNES (I think that was $80).
  12. Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp is just not as fun as the original. Too many button presses, too fast. There's no time to enjoy the animation!

      save2600

yeah, I hate it when a game such as this acts too much like a real game. lol

What system are you playing it on? Do a search... there may exist a code or series of controller presses during the title screen or something that allows you to view the entire thing as a "movie" of sorts...

  13. Just got "Commodore: A Company On The Edge." Now all I need is time to read it!

  14. Unless it's an extremely rare system or prototype or something, why not mod if you want to? It's not like 2600s are hard to come by. Generally these systems are meant to be used an enjoyed, not stuck in a display case. Modding a classic console can be a fun project. I obviously wouldn't mod something that's extremely rare.
  15. jaybird3rd - I'd buy that!

  16. What do you do? You end up working for ZAPPA, and he MAKES you be a creep!

What do you expect from a guy who's first name is Dweezil?

  17. Finally got around to watching Tron: Legacy. What a pile - glad I didn't spend $10 to see it. Great special effects, though.

  18. The GameCube's controller is the most comfortable one I've ever played. For more classic/retro systems I always loved the Epyx 500XJ. Comfortable and responsive.
  19. Lost Luggage is a really cool game. Apollo rocked.

  20. I think it was a heck of a deal, but I picked up a loose 2600 Jr. at CGE 2k7 for $1. That's not necessarily typical, but even with games $50+ seems really high.
  21. TG-16 games on the Wii's VC are cheaper and obviously easier to get than the real cards. For me, that was the biggest draw since I haven't owned a TurboGrafx in ages, and I only owned it for a short time so I missed a lot of its library. There were a few other games I picked up on a whim, like Sin & Punishment and ToeJam & Earl. Having a save state is nice for a game like Solomon's Key that allows unlimited continues - I can just fire it up every so often to tackle the next level without having to play through everything. It's not a substitute for the real thing, but I think it's a decent service and I've enjoyed my purchases.
  22. I have very little time to play, but the 5200 (and occasionally Inty) High Score Clubs on AA give me some incentive to fire those up. My classic consoles are split between two rooms, so depending if I can play in one room or the other I may choose something different. I like to change it up, too. I'll play 2600 for a week or so, then switch to Inty, then to 5200 or 7800, then maybe NES. Keep it fresh. Of course, buying a new cart will give me a reason to fire up a certain console... I also sold a couple of systems a few years ago and I honestly don't miss them; plus it makes deciding what to play (and buy for) easier.
