  1. Nice but not suitable for ColecoVision

You do not fit the vdp limitations

I appreciate the feedback. I was hoping someone would suggest the right program for the job. I've read quite a few threads on here about sprites, and people have suggested different programs. I'm not sure where to begin.

Edit: I'd appreciate any guidance you can offer.

  2. I love the Colecovision; it's my all-time favorite console. When I first discovered AA, I was overwhelmed by the amount of resources available to program the console. I'd like to someday start my own projects, but in the meantime - I would like to offer my services to anyone that might need a pixel artist for a current or upcoming Coleco project.

The sprite sheets I have attached here are just quick examples of some of my work, The tools I use: Grafx2 (Mac), ProMotion (PC), Sprite Creator (iOS) and Sprite Editor (iOS).

Note: the sprite sheets seen here were developed using Sprite Creator in 16x16 and 32x32.

  3. That seems odd to me. I wonder what kind of license deal they got for that, because Hallmark still owns all the rights to Rainbow Brite. They still sell the merchandise. Rainbow Brite as a character is copyright protected, so ... I don't know what is going on with them putting out a game. Seems Hallmark would have to be involved someway.

Maybe Hallmark slapped them with a cease and desist for violating their copyright?

  4. Thank you for the update! I can't wait to get my hands on Pac-Man DX and Donkey Kong. Quick question: will there be a second run of Gradius? I was lucky enough to buy Penguin Adventure before the AA store sold out, but I missed out on Gradius. I really want a copy for my collection!

    Edited for spelling.

  5. Hi Daniel,

It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. First, I am really sorry about your mother. Losing a loved one is never easy, but to cancer? I can't even imagine...

I've been unemployeed, supported by family. and buried in a mountain of debt all at the same time, so I can definitely sympathize with your current situation.

While I am not fimiliar with you personally, I have read about your games on FB groups and websites. In fact, I believe I might have subscribed to your Youtube channel a very long time ago, while searching for Coleco dev/homebrew videos. The channel was called newcoleco, I believe.

I hope you stick around and become an active member of the community again. And if you ever decide to finish and publiish those unfinished projects (which I assume are games), you can count on me to place an order. :)

    Edited for spelling.

  6. OK, so I wasn't expecting this, especially since it was all vaporware and promises for the time being, but really glad that you guys seem to like the idea. How things have changed, 10 years ago I would be facing pitchforks and torches! :P

So thanks a lot for the support!

As you will see, there is something very unique to this project I don't think anyone else is doing in the large-scale.

You definitely have my support! Just a quick question: will Opcode Games implement the SGM Pro concept into the new console or the SGM?

  7. Massachusetts, USA – February 10, 2017 – We have been receiving a lot of feedback since we announced the Super Game Module Pro back in January 1st, and based on that we decided to change our plans accordingly:

    1) The SGM Pro is now indefinitely on hold.

    2) Instead the sound subsystem we created was transferred to Project Prometheus, a new super 8-bit console coming from Opcode Games, and it will be fully backward compatible with the ColecoVision and the Super Game Module.

It wasn’t an easy decision, but let me give you a little background so you can better understand why we changed our plans. We started developing the SGM Pro back in early 2016. The board (PCB) was created way back in March, we even printed the boxes and stocked the clear black cases. That was a considerable investment in time and money we already made. However later in 2016, the opportunity for Project Prometheus arose, the perfect conjunction of many happy factors. Add to that the aforementioned feedback we got where: 1) people were frustrated by a new version of the SGM and the confusion it may cause, 2) people were really looking for a new ColecoVision compatible console. In the end of the day it became clear we had too many hardware products planned, and the SGM Pro was looking more and more like the Sega 32X of the ColecoVision line. So we made the hard decision of pulling the plug on the SGM Pro, even though that represents quite a financial hit to us in terms of inventory. On the other hand we believe Project Prometheus will better provide what ColecoVision and retro gaming general community alike are looking for.

And what about the regular Super Game Module? Well, that is the good news. Pre-orders for the 4th run will start in just a couple of week. Same deluxe packaging as the previous run at the same $90 price. Moreover, all games you saw during the SGM Pro presentation are still coming for the regular SGM.

More details about Project Prometheus will be revealed later this year. However please notice we aren’t realistically expecting to release Project Prometheus until late 2018.

    Grazi and Ed.

It might be too early to say this, but put me down for the new 8-bit console system! Pinch me; I think I'm dreaming.

  8. My wife has tried to get me on Facebook more than once, but I flat out refused. I don't know; there's something about Facebook that I just don't like. Maybe my destain for the platform derives from the way people use (and yes, abuse) it. Call me old-fashioned, but the idea of posting selfies - and airing your dirty laundry in public for all to see - is a real turn off to me. I acknowledge the benefits of using Facebook when you're a business owner (it's a great way to interact with exisiting customers and attracting new ones), but for personal use? No way. Besides, you can still visit companies that are on Facebook without actually joining. You can't post or interact with anyone, but that's fine by me. I find what I'm looking for and then move on when I'm done.
