Coleco strong-arming homebrew publishers and fan sites
ColecoGamer replied to TPR's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
Oh, great. I had no idea that homebrew developers from the community were working on Rainbow Brite. I've read a good portion of this on-going saga, but apparently not enough of it! I apologize to the hombrew developers for the comment I made. I'm just upset with Coleco, Cardillio and the trouble they have caused. -
What are the power requirements for the SGM module?
ColecoGamer replied to omf's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
The SGM works fine with my orginal Coleco power adapter, so I doubt it requires anything special to power it. Yeah, I broke down and bought one on eBay. But despite this, I still plan on pre-ordering a second unit from the 4th production run to support Opcode. The one I bought on eBay was a lot cheaper than some of the others, which all sold for $300+.. -
Anyone looking for a pixel artist?

I'll update this thread as soon as I convert those sprites. Again, thank you for the assistance! -

Thank you! I'll look into it along with Magellan, which artrag suggested. It'll be good to have more than one program to try. -

Anyone looking for a pixel artist?

Thank you for mentioning this! The sprites attached above need to be converted to fit the VDP, but I don't know which program I should use. I initially posted this to show that I am a pixel artist, and I am excited and very enthuiastic about contributing to projects. I don't care about being paid, etc. Knowing that my work is in a Coleco game is worth more to me than any amount of money. -

I appreciate the feedback. I was hoping someone would suggest the right program for the job. I've read quite a few threads on here about sprites, and people have suggested different programs. I'm not sure where to begin. Edit: I'd appreciate any guidance you can offer. -
I love the Colecovision; it's my all-time favorite console. When I first discovered AA, I was overwhelmed by the amount of resources available to program the console. I'd like to someday start my own projects, but in the meantime - I would like to offer my services to anyone that might need a pixel artist for a current or upcoming Coleco project. The sprite sheets I have attached here are just quick examples of some of my work, The tools I use: Grafx2 (Mac), ProMotion (PC), Sprite Creator (iOS) and Sprite Editor (iOS). Note: the sprite sheets seen here were developed using Sprite Creator in 16x16 and 32x32.

Coleco strong-arming homebrew publishers and fan sites
ColecoGamer replied to TPR's topic in ColecoVision / Adam
This thread has me glued to the screen. It's like a daytime soap opera with Cardillio as the villian. What will happen next? Will Cardillo back off (which he should) or will he try to fight this until the bitter end? BTW: Their Rainbow Brite game is a joke! It looks like a cookie-cutter NES game. -
Thank you for posting the source code! It'll help people like me who want to program on the Coleco.

And here I was hoping they would get burned at their own game. Edited: Pun intended. -

Maybe Hallmark slapped them with a cease and desist for violating their copyright? -

And that is the sad truth of it all. They ride the coat tails of others to generate a profit. -

A Rainbow Brite game you say? Maybe they were hoping someone from the homebrew community would develop the game for the Colecovision? All evidence seems to point to them reviving the Coleco in some way. Gaining control of the community was probably the first of many steps planned. -

True. The real people behind the Coleco never would have pulled such a nasty stunt. Edited for spelling. -
Wow! Looks like I'll be buying this and Prometheus!

I'm taking a sledgehammer to my Coleco the same day my Prometheus console arrives... -
Project Prometheus (a new ColecoVision compatible console)

Personaly, I'd like to see arcade ports from as early as 1980 to as late as 1989: Kung Fu Master, Q-Bert Cubes, Krull, Bad Dudes, R-Type, Salamander, TMNT, etc. -
This is great news! I'm really looking forward to buying Gradius.
-
Thank you for the update! I can't wait to get my hands on Pac-Man DX and Donkey Kong. Quick question: will there be a second run of Gradius? I was lucky enough to buy Penguin Adventure before the AA store sold out, but I missed out on Gradius. I really want a copy for my collection! Edited for spelling.

Oh yeah? I just purchased Thexder and Operation Wolf from Team Pixelboy today! So choke on it, Mr. Cardillo! You'll never see a red cent from me! -
Keep at it! The Jaguar needs more programmers.

Is 7800basic more complicated than Batari Basic? I have a decent understanding of BB, and I have written a couple of simple games with it. I wasn't sure if what I've learned so far with BB could be carried over to 7800basic or not.
