I just discovered that another company - Software Corner - released a proper version of Dragon’s Lair for the ST, Amiga and PC. Once the ST floppy image is found, we can play the arcade version of DL on ST. I discovered this at a DL Fan page: http://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=137.0

Storage would be an issue due to the size of each animation clip. Sure, an UltraSatan could be used to store the LD content, but the other issue would be system RAM. Since the video would have to stream through the ST’s CPU - and also the game code - I suspect a lot of bottlenecks would occur. Unless someone with the know-how could re-write the game code to run off the ST, while using the LD player and the Dragon’s Lair LD in tandem. I’m talking about joystick controls and not whatever the heck Mitchron released. If I (or someone else) could get their hands on the Amiga’s DL floppy disc - which contains the game instructions for play off a LD player - then maybe this package could truly come to fruition on the ST.

Woot! Woot! Congratulations on the STE! Enjoy! -
Thank you to the people who responded. I found the book in PDF format. Stos The Graphic Adventure Creator is part of the STOS product line, but it allows you to develop (from scratch) adventure text-based games like The Pawn and Thief, so these tools are different from STOS The Game Maker, which I already have. I found the book to compliment the Graphic Adventure Creator software I have for ST. Apparently this software kit was also made available for the Amstrad and C64, and the software works similarly across all platforms. So the user manual I found is still relevant to the ST version, since the functions (again) are similar across each platform. If anyone wants a copy of this book then please don’t hesitate to ask.

As the title of this post states, I am looking for the user manual to STOS’ The Graphic Adventure Creator. Please PM me if you can help. Thank you in advance!

That’s a good idea; I never thought about doing it!

I’m just now learning the Gotek that was installed in the ST I bought last month. My question is - how do I creat blank, formatted discs to save my progress in games or files from utilities? I did the obligatory search through Google and all I found were videos on how to install the device. Any assistance that can be provided on this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just to break it all down: Atari 520ST (CIB) $250 w/ Free Shipping Atari SC1224 $139 w/ Free Shipping Step Down Convertor $30 Monitor stand $20 Total: $439.00USD Not bad for a complete 520ST computer setup. -
…and what a beauty she is! I’m in love. ❤️ The monitor I purchased produces a clear, sharp image that makes the on-screen colors and graphics pop. The sound is clear and loud, and there is no static or issues whatsoever. My UK 520ST is running off a step down convertor and everything works well! I am very happy with my purchase and I encourage anyone who is in the market to buy an ST, to take the plunge now while the prices are still good.

Thank you very much for the scans! After reading both pages, I can see why this package didn’t sell well. Why on Earth would they remove joystick support in favor of an Infocom approach? This would definitely break the immersion of the game. The Amiga version of this kit uses a joystick, as it should. Hmmm… maybe I’ll stick to my 20th Anniversary DVD collection for the time being. This doesn’t mean I want people to stop posting what they know about this package, though! I still find it all very intriguing. Thank you to everyone who has responded, as well as those who may respond later!

I understand what you mean. For me, it would be the idea of owning the equipment and being able to play the Laserdisc on a 16-bit computer like the ST. Since Amiga computers cost a small fortune today, the chances of me buying one (after selling my A1200 in 2003), is slim to none, even though its a little easier to find Michtron’s Journey to the Lair package for the Amiga. In fact, some collectors have sold the Amiga version of Journey to the Lair on eBay in the past, but at extremely high prices. I remember seeing a complete, expanded A500 with the Laserdisc player, the DL Laserdisc, and all cables on eBay, and the auction ended at $12,000USD. Talk about expensive! Edit: I could buy a refurbished Dragon’s Lair cabinet for that kind of money.

I happened across this tonight, while on Youtube. I thought it would be nice to share it with those who have never seen it.
