  1. I'm waiting for the inevitable shortening of the name as is done with all the consoles. IE: PSX, PSOne, PS2, PSTwo, XB360, NES, SNES, N64, et al. So will this one be: NWii? (pronounced Ennui)
  2. Try this, It seems to have the answers you seek. http://www.classicgaming.com/o2home/faq/g7400mod/
  3. I'd have to vote for Star Fire! The music is awesome and there's some nifty graphics to boot! I'd also give a nod to Sprintmaster. The music is good but the tune only plays once IIRC.
  4. Burger Chef ...but I'd have to get a hold of Mr. Peabody and that dorky Sherman and get them to let me hitch a ride in their wayback machine for that.
  5. Your view is that of a guy sitting with the hatch open, knowing that the enemy tanks don't have machineguns--just cannons--and thus sticking his head out poses no danger. I just looked at the screen shots of both; I see no hatch in Battlezone. It looks like 3rd person to me.
  6. I see. I guess that the difference is then the amount of the exterior of your tank you actually see. That being the case, I would lump Battlezone with the likes of Enduro because the perspective is actually third person over the shoulder, if you will, which is close to games like Enduro. The only difference is the ability to see the rear of the vehicle in Enduro giving the game a camera following view. The feeling you get playing Robot Tank is that from the player's perspective, you are inside the tank. (Think: Resident Evil V.S. Half-Life )
  7. Well, I'd say that if you consider that the enemies and other objects in Battlezone definitely follow the 3-D rules concerning changing size with proximity, you would almost have to classify it as 3-D. But, both Battlezone and Robot Tank have elements of first person as well, so I'm thinking sub-category here.
  8. Don't do it! You're gonna get ripped off! I'll tell you where to get free E.T. carts. Just get a shovel and click this link
  9. Great ones mentioned so far! I always liked Vindicators ( Tengen I Think). Pretty close to the arcade.
  10. Houses cannot get "robbed", people can. Houses are burglarized. Sorry for your bad luck. What symptoms is your PS2 displaying? Is it freezing up or refusing to load discs or giving error codes? PS2 is relatively easy to fix if you can pinpoint the problem.
  11. Wasn't the game actually featured in a scene in the movie? The scene where the Mayor and Broady are walking along the boardwalk having a discussion, the game is being played in the background. The camera cuts to a close up for a few seconds and then returns to the two walking.
  12. My bad, I always mis-speak when I dont have the system right in front of me. You're right, the cheat devices plug into the parallel port. IIRC the 9000 series didn't have the parallel port but did have the serial port. Thanks for the correction.
  13. Resident Evil (all of them, especially 2) I can't believe it hasn't been posted before. As far as backups, there are discs that are used to do a swap trick. They're available all over the net. (Google it.) Also there are cheat devices that plug into the serial port (if you have one, later models do not, 9000 series and PSone eliminated them). The device allows you to use action replay and gameshark codes as well as memory card management and playing import/backup discs. Some devices also allow playing VCD's but I've heard the video quality is crappy. There are tutorials on the web that reference the best way to burn a disc. Some buring software won't create a disc that the PlayStation will read. Try http://www.psxforum.com or Google.
  14. I'm a big fan of the Resident Evil and Dino Crisis series. I'd like to see a Resident Evil set in post annhilation Racoon City. Maybe a hazmat assessment mission that leads to the discovery of zombies living in the underground (think C.H.U.D.). The current maps could be used as a model for creating the damaged buildings on the surface. The underground areas could incorporate some old underground maps and add several new ones. Maybe even a hidden Umbrella Lab or other facility underground would be nice. I'd like to see the zombies act more like the baddies in RE4. As for Dino Crisis, I would like to see a GTA type game to an extent. The dino's get loose somehow to a major city. Your character has the task of whacking the dinos and saving pockets of trapped civilians, and eventually eradicating the dino threat at the source. The relationship to GTA would be the game engine and map/weapons systems. Freedom to roam and just kill dinos or complete missions and solve puzzles would add depth to that type of game. There would of course have to be vehicles. (velociraptors V. dirtbike in close quarters wooded hillside = fun) I'd also like to see an option to play as a dino and roam and eat people or hunt as a pack like a squad based game. You could have missions here too or just roam and dine.
  15. Was the cart itself marked with a price? If not, you didn't steal it. If it was already in the toaster it goes for the price of the toaster. Stuff at thrift stores is sold as-is. Your only mistake was posting the info in the first place.
  16. I can describe the techncial basis... The codes you enter into a Game Genie(no way to save them, so they have to be re-entered from the code book each time) are actually a cleverly disguised ROM address and value. The Genie watches game access, and when the system calls a ROM address that's matched to an entered code it blocks the cartridge ROM and substitutes it's own value. Essentially, it's reprogramming the game. This makes the Game Genie FAR more powerful than the Action Replay, which merely locks a given address in RAM. Given enough Game Genie codes, you could make your own totally new game. There's not a lot you can do with the 5 instructions a Genie allows, though. But it's enough to dummy out a decrement(for infinite lives/health/time/etc) or chang a starting value(9 lives instead of 3, for example). 946509[/snapback] You can also get another Game Genie and "Piggyback" it together with the one you already have. It gives the possibility of using 10 codes. I have double Game Genie setups for NES SNES and Genny. FYI: some games won't play correctly with too many codes added so you'll have to play around with it a bit. When you fire up the system with two Game Genies attached, you get the screen for the first GG, enter all the codes you want then hit start. A second GG screen will come up and you can enter additional codes there. Hit start again and the game will boot.
  17. ????? Wow, I have never heard anyone dis' Yar's Revenge. To each his own, I guess. As for awful games, I would have to say that, each for different reasons, my list would be Airlock, Firefighter, Planet Patrol, and Cruise Missile. I only list games that I actually own and these are the stinkers I remember from my collection. I'm sure there are more if I think about it.
  18. I don't think it was a bad game, Andrew. It was very difficult and took some time to get used to the controls (particularly navagating in the minefield and the ice) , but all in all it is fun.
  19. I think it's Ent. My Sears light sixer appears to bear a striking resemblence to Tree Beard!
  20. The Legend Of Zelda for NES is great! I have it for GBA as well. The music is highly addictive. Don't be surprised if you find yourself hummimg it and getting the tunes stuck in your head from time to time! I liked Zelda II as well but it has much different gameplay than the first. SNES had a great Zelda title (Zelda: A Link to the Past) that played much like the first with a much bigger world and more items. The music is also very addictive! I'd start with the original two titles (Both have been ported to GBA) and go from there. SNES title is also ported to the GBA. It rocks!!
  21. I don't know about the first, but Earthworm Jim's (Sega genny) bordom routine is really funny!
  22. Is it too early to fire up the soldering iron? *drools on keyboard*
