Try tuning your RF output. You will need to use an allen wrench. Hook up yer sixer to the TV and turn them on. Tune the TV to which ever channel you normally use for the Atari and make sure the Atari selection switch is set the same. Use the allen wrench on the RF tuner (which is the, usually orange, cylinder wrapped with bare copper wire in the RF area of the board. There's an access from the top of the shield and some models like the Jr and 7800 have access from the bottom of the unit.) to fine tune the channel (2 or 3) until you get clear video and sound. It's easy to do and usually solves the problem. Just insert the allen wrench in the tuner and turn it left or right until you're satisfied with the results.

There's a sticker on the bottom with the serial number and the manufacture date and place. Also, inside on the face of the RF shield there's a piece of what looks like register tape with "1980" printed on it and some part number info. It was scotch taped to the shield. I think this is the real deal. I'll try to post pics. I can't believe I got such a great machine in a flea market for only 25 bucks!!!

Nope. I've had the whole machine apart and I've inspected and cleaned all of it. It would appear that I am the only one who's opened the case since it was first built. It looked a little dusty inside but other than that there were no tell-tale signs of anyone doing any work to it. I'll have to post pics when I get home.

I'm at work now so my investigation into the switch will have to wait until later. Maybe the previous owner was a "fry junkie" I'll have to check the switch contacts and see if they are unusually worn.

Oops!! SunnyVALE!! It was a typo, honest, I swear!!!!!

A bit off topic, but I've never seen anyone refer to anyone else as a Noob here. You're as welcome here and your opinion is as valid here as everyone elses Nice to have you on the forums There, that's another nice thing I've noticed about AA. Thanks! I wasn't sure if that was protocol here or not.

It ain't HEAVY, it's my SIXER! It was made in China. I think all the Heavy sixers came out of Sunnydale. The switches are ON/ON? I have to turn it off to the OFF position to play a game. How else would that have happened. the switch itself is in good shape and I cleaned it. maybe I'll put it on a multi-meter and see whazzup.

I don't believe it was done by the previous owner. I think it was a goof up at the factory. Do you think that would raise it's value?

Hello all!! I just joined this forum, but have been lurking for a while. I just purchased a Six switch Woodie that appears to have been built in 1980. It is in great shape cosmetically and works great (thanks to the HEAVY RF shield!). The only odd thing about it is that the ON/OFF switch appears to have been soldered in upside down. I looked at it to see if it was possible that this was done after the board's manufacture. It does not appear to have been done that way. Can anyone tell me if this anomally would cause this particular Atari to be of greater value?
