  1. Definitely try cleaning the genesis expansion port connectors with alcohol. I actually found that the pins on my genesis, which had never been used before with expansions, were fairly dirty. As for the 32x I don't know where you can buy that cable...shouldn't be too hard, as it is essential and people wouldn't just throw em out. Try searching around the net. I checked sega-parts for you but they didn't have it. When you hook up the 32x you plug that particular cable in the genesis, then to the AV-In of the 32x. Then you plug some form of AV to the AV-Out on the 32x to your tv. You need a power supply for the 32x, too. All this hooked up at once looks so cool, and jumbled, and insane!
  2. Well you slide em both together first of course. I'm sure that was obvious, Each needs their own power supply. Use either an RF cable or composite cable to hook up the genesis to the TV. With the 2nd model genesis you get stereo sound automatically, unlike the first. No need for extra cables. Power on the genesis. Have no carts inserted. The sega cd should power on, and you get its title screen (with theme music which is stuck in my head now than you very much) Try out an audio cd first to see if it works. Then if everything is ok (never know if the thing is broken and it scratches cds) try a sega cd game. You can only play cartridges by turning the unit off, insert, then on again. It's pretty easy. You don't need the metal plates that original came with it to get it to work. If you are having a problem please describe it I'll do my best to help. I've got a model 1 genesis, model 1 sega cd, model 2 gen, and model 2 cd. I can explain the 32x too if you need me to.
  3. Oh, and you asked if it's worth it to get a TV with SVideo or Component. YES, yes it is! I replaced my rf/composite only 27inch tv with a RF/Composite/svideo/component tv, same size 27inches... There is such a huge different you wouldn't believe it Only problem is the svideo and component connectors are in the back, so you have to turn the tv around to connect a game system. I got 6 foot extension cables to remedy that, although the official playstation/2 s video cable wont fit the ext cable. It is inverted from standard cables...weird. If you get a s video enabled tv you can hook your computer up to it to for a unique experience!
  4. Hmm darn I just deleted a link that would help you a couple days ago. But I can tell you without a doubt that: From worst to best...it goes RF, Composite, S Video, Component. WITHOUT A DOUBT. RF combines all signals into one=bad Composite seperates the left and right audio into two cables, and all video into one=better S Video seperates the chroma and luma in the video signals=much much better Component seperates 2 colors and the sync signals, the third color is added by the tv/device=best
  5. Think of it this way: at least you HAVE art skills. If I tried drawing that, it would look like today's Michael Jackson. (this isn't really a joke either)
  6. I for one think it's cool.

  8. Ok, thank you very much! I got it to open. Mine was just jammed a bit. Thanks again
  9. Well the top plastic is attached (part of) the plastic over the connector. Not the whole side connector, but a part on the left and inserts over the connector. Still trying as I type to open it..
  10. (I was stuck in ebay Canada for those links (from Mindfield's zathras post; I'm in California) I just pulled up the contact info. It will definitely be long distance but I'll try calling. Thanks
  11. Well I bought this item http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...item=8107397966 More than 50 days ago. I waited and waited just expecting the "slow shipping" as stated in a fair bit of his feedbacks (didn't see before bidding, most are positive!) http://cgi2.ebay.ca/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?V...amondweapon9998 I emailed maybe 5 times, no response to any. Gave an ultimatum in the last email, respond or I will be forced to leave neg. Didn't get the item. Left negative feedback, as you can see (gamesandglass) Is there any more that I can do? $37 is a lot to lose over nothing. I used paypal, no money back guarantee though. How do you deal with someone who doesn't answer any email you throw at em? Anyone else "dealed" with this seller? This is really my first non-performing seller experience so I don't know what to do.
  12. /shrug I had a good experience with zathras. Check the feedback from and to "gamesandglass"
  13. Ok I've removed the 6 bottom screws, and the two on the side connector, how come it's not opening up? Is there a trick to it? Thanks in advance
  14. I think the $6 shipping is putting people off. Is that a default mistake?

    5200jr ??

Certainly looks like a 5200 junior to me.
  16. I hate "urbanized" games. I f***ing hate them. Anyone see the blockbuster "flip it" games commercial? That commercial is actually very sure to turn me from a good mood to an angry one. I don't know why, but I just hate those "urbanized" and "hip" kids in it. Especially that white guy with the beanie at the counter who looks high. They're the playstation durrrr era people and I hate their guts. I hope they stay away from classic gaming.
  17. You can replace it with a new, official connector, like I did. I don't see how that's modding.
  18. OOPS, so it was $9. Wow, at 16 my memory is fading. Wish I had that edit button.
  19. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...ghlight=kid+vid Box is kinda iffy, but I stand by my "beyond mint" remark
  20. It looks like they stole the words too but rearranged them a little.
  21. Do you mind if I make that my sig? It's hilarious!
  22. Am I the only one here who is against modding classic video game systems and controllers? To me it just soils the item in question. You drilled holes in the plastic, you messed up the original factory state board..to me it's just the thing isn't pure anymore. And now there is one less "original" non-modded system in the world. Or controller. I'm not gonna say stuff like "the 2600 wasn't meant to be played in s video! it ruins the experience!" because I know that's not true. Higher quality is great. I just don't like the fact you have to mess up something to get it. I see the modded AV colecovisions and shudder. I already don't see colecovisions around here, the one I have is the ONLY one I have seen...so I guess it's gonna be even harder to find em. If I find a modded one in the wild, I wont buy it. Drilling holes in the back of a heavy sixer for av? sacrilege! Putting turbo switches on jag controllers? how dare you! Gutting rare early NES games like Stack Up just for some famicom converter? Damn damn damn! You know I'm still looking for stack up, and each time you buy one just to take the converter and not play the game, means the people who are looking for that game can't enjoy it. Gutting 5200 controllers to make paddles...you know, I can play super breakout just fine with the analog joysticks. Why can't you..? Modding a supercharger? Do you know how hard those are to find in the wild already? I've never even found one. I really am just talking about, what in my eyes, is irreversable damage to these items. I go so far as to not sell some things I know people will mod. For instance, I decided to keep my boxed Odyssey 500, and loose Odyssey 300, when I realized they had the special RF connectors. I knew the moment some collector would buy em, they'd chop off that special connector and replace with RCA. (I have the special switchbox with my Odyssey 1) I think of it as rescuing. I don't know about you, but irreversable modding where things will NEVER be returned to their original state sickens me. For those who say "your loss," please spare me (But I did like what that one guy did with his jaguar, painting it white, because it had already been done by that dentist company; and besides, it was only this one guy doing it for himself, not to sell, or buy more jags and paint em to resell. How many jags are dead or defective already, and how many are out there?)
