I actually hate when classic video games make the news because that means prices and competition are gonna go up even more. I remember back in '96 it was "oh those old ataris? $0.50 you can pick and choose" now it's actually 5.99 per cart at this one thrift store...and often at fleamarkets people wont break up their lots I really wish people would just stick with their xbox/GC/PS2/whatever new stuff is coming out and be ignorant of the greatness that was before them. I'm selfish, biatches

I don't know about a fair price since I got both my 2 and 4 ports pre-ebay. But, I can help you with the other things... If you can get a decent switchbox, I'd get a 4 port since they run all games (2 port doesn't play Pitfall, Mountain King, or Krazy Shoot Out) but it's all preference really. Slimlines as in the 7800/2600 controllers? Well the connectors are different...so unless you have some sort of adapter (Wico) those controllers are not going to plug in to your 5200. Power supplies! I've included a picture for your convenience... 4 port: Input 120v, 60 hz, 30w Output 11.5v DC, 1.95a 2 port: Input 120vAC, 60 hz, 30va Output 9.3v DC, 1.95a The one on the left is for the 4 port, and it has raised plastic around the logo. The one on the right is for the 2 port, and is has a label with the logo and info instead of just plastic. I think you can use either for either port 5200 but it couldn't hurt to use the right one! (Who knows how many 4 port switchboxes might have burned out because of using a 2 port adapter? Is that possible? I don't know)

The Jag is a hardware platform. They don't have gameplay potential, they have graphics and audio potential. Gameplay potential is a property of the people who create the games, not the platform they're created on. Ok, I actually made up this saying.. Attack of the Obvious Squad! But seriously, I think we all knew what Starcat meant. Jaguar as a system, which is a coming together of parts which includes games. And I agree that the gameplay side could have been so much better if third party developers just gave it a chance..to me I think the Jaguar never left the first game-phase. I don't know the exact terms of it but what I mean is the first games out for a system when it launches...and often games get better graphically and gameplay-wise later. I'm not counting the new games published after the Jag's official end of support by Atari (it's not dead!) because I don't have experience with them.

Thanks Adrian! With all my problems lately I didn't want it to be another failed power supply or something worse. And yeah, I noticed that too about Game Boy. The speaker buzzes slightly..most audible when you have the volume down all the way. Both of mine do it.

Is it normal for the Sega 32x to have a slight hissing sound when turned on? I have it hooked up to a Genesis 2 and CD 2.

If you go to http://www.phantasy-star.net/ you can get the commercials for 1 through 4. Just thought this was relevant because 1 is on SMS and they're Japanese commercials My fav is the Game Gear one!

Crappy service ruining your game store?
Kialan replied to figgler's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I just hate gamestores because I want to steal everything (only older games, I don't care about anything past Dreamcast) But anyways, I have always gotten bad service in ANY game store. Knights Video Games in Newark Game Masters in San Leandro (used to be good but got taken over by playstation era idiots like someone else said) Any Gamestop or Funcoland And I think EB has been good to me the few times I've been to one..it's all Gamestops here. But Knights sold me a third party playstation memory card which erased twice so I burned it and sent it straight to hell with a hammer. They said it was a 'mega' memory card, but no, it had just the same amount of space as a regular one. They are $15 overpriced on everything (or should I say were, they went out of business a month ago, hahahahaha take that bitches!) Game Masters used to be hella good, they knew about old video games and everything and were always friendly. Now they're jackasses who didn't know what a Sega Saturn memory card looked like. And their classic games section has shrunk into zilch. They are also $15 overpriced on everything and always were, but their nice service used to make up for that. I only go there now if I am desperate. Gamestop- I was just there today and I asked for a playstation grey original memory card and they tried to sell me a shitty third party one. They didn't have any officials. But the point is they thought I didn't know any better since I'm 16. They pissed me off by not selling Dreamcast stuff anymore. And that's it since they're new in this area. Funcoland. Before they got taken over by Gamestop around here, I actually kind've enjoyed going, even though they pushed you to buy shit you didn't want. I like the fact they had NES games, Genesis, SNES, and other older stuff. Now, they don't. Because they're gone. Decent prices I remember though. Electronic's Boutique is only in this one mall that I never go to, but I did get a sealed 3DO Game Guru from them which was nice. I forgot the price. But they didn't have many old games and it was in the bargain bin lol! So I'm sure they were phasing out at least 3DO by the time I went. But there wasn't anything bad about the service. That was 7 or 8 years ago. I really just don't like game stores anymore. Give me a thrift store anyday so I can be surprised to what I find and not angered by high prices (usually!) Thrift stores don't usually piss me off that often compared to game stores, and it's never the service that bugs me. Ok done ranting! -
Which classic games always kept you coming back for more?
Kialan replied to Sega Ages's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Ok, in order. 1 is most played ever. 1. Super Mario Bros. (NES) Every hookup of the nes, this gets played. It was the first game I ever played ever. 2. Super Mario Kart (SNES) I played this every day before and after school, and weekends, when I was in late elementary/early middle school. Gold on everything. 3. Phantasy Star Online versions 1 and 2 (Dreamcast) and since it stores how many hours you put into each character, if I add all my 6 character's hours up it's around 2500 total and I was just playing it right now with my friend on Gamcecube so.. 4. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Genesis) I just remember playing this all the time. 5. Super Mario RPG (SNES) I beat it over, and over, and over.... 6. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis) Ditto as #3 7. The Need for Speed/Gex (3DO) played em to death! 8. Monster Rancher 2 (Playstation) don't have a copy yet, but if I had it, I'd be all over it again with my gold flower pot monster named Miyamato% (my-uh-mah-toh-percent)! (my friend had this game) 9. Theme Park (any platform but I have it for Saturn, Jaguar, 3DO, and my friend had the Playstation one) god damn this addictive game 10. Bust a Move 2: Arcade Edition 11. Mario Bros. (any platform but I really like NES and 5200 versions) And now, since my friend is over, here is his list: 1. PSO (any) 2. Monster Rancher Series 3. Pokemon series 4. Disgaia (PS2) 5. Final Fantasy Series 6. Super Mario RPG (SNES) 7. Ogre Battle series 8. Animal Crossing (GameCube) 9. Harvest Moon series 10. Heroes of Might and Magic (PC) Hooray! -
I'm definitely gonna get another, unfortunately. The damn thing was barely used yet it still fails /grr Thanks for all your help!

Well recently I discovered my Sega cd 2 power supply is steadily buzzing. Is there anything wrong with it and can it be fixed? Is it dangerous to continue using it? I've always wondered about buzzing PS's

It was the first because my ebay email is my ISP email, which I ONLY use for ebay and paypal. I don't email friends with it, or fill out forms with it, or get chain letters with it the only things I've gotten spamwise are ebay's own spam (10 cent sale! Come to seller's central! Come to ebay camp! Btw is there anyway to turn this off, and bidconfirms?) the one ebay spoof above, and an email from someone random saying come buy my item which is against ebay's rules. I use one yahoo email for only friends and family, and lists I subscribe to. And then there's the OTHER yahoo email.. My first, I used it for everything until I got 6 porn spams a day. Then, when I had nothing to lose (since I HAD the other email addresses already) I replied to one porn spam threatening legal action and involving the FBI since I am a minor and they should not be sending me porn. Then, the porn spam stopped. I only got 1 a week, from someone different. But now it's back to 6 a day which is pretty annoying. Basically I use this address for online petitions, emails to people I don't know, services that need an email address to continue, and other crap. These days it's really smart to have multiple emails. I think it's really ridiculous how fast we have to go through addresses, and WE'RE not in the wrong! Fuck the spammers. Honestly.

I can't tell you that or else more people would be after the things I'm after.

Well I got this email today... "TKO NOTICE: Please verify your account" with the from address: ebay.co.uk and of course instantly I knew this was just an idiot trying to get my password. I mean really, what the hell is TKO, I never use ebay.co.uk, and even ebay themselves say they wont ask for your password like this. How stupid can people get? Attached are pics of the email (with fancy input boxes, I may add) and full headers. I blacked out my email only. I mean the label looks different.

In that NES auction, what is that game? He says "and 1 Mario Duck game" is that a pirate?
-
Pocky and Rocky 2 for SNES. My friend and I used to rent the game all the time at this little mom and pop rental store. They went out of business and I haven't ever seen the game in the wild. So I got Pocky and Rocky 1 off ebay real quick...but 2 is like 7 out of 10 rarity so it took awhile before I snagged one. (Btw..Pocky and Rocky with Becky for GBA sucks donkey balls compared to the originals. Besides the fact that PARWB sucks in general..1 and 2 have much more gameplay...2 player simultaneous!)

Nope. You know what they say "Knowledge is power"! Great find

Yeah, it actually used to be a good symbol until Hitler reversed it and now it is a symbol of hate.

I'd love to see a pic if you can scan it.

That's odd..the Odysseys I've found have all had the standard RCA tip that plugs into the tv/game switch. My odyssey^2, 300, and 500 all have the standard. My Odyssey 1 is the only one with the unique plug and switchbox (which I would NEVER mod in my lifetime.)

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?View...5&since=-1&rd=1 I've added a couple more things to sell. A Sears-Telegames Pinball Breakaway unit, an Atari 2800 power supply (as determined by those on this forum), a Pro Action Replay for Sega Saturn which lets you cheat, save games, and PLAY IMPORTS!(!) which is very cool. I also put up a NES Power Glove which I hope sells
