Thanks chaps, just had a look into these, and have just downloaded the 'This Planet Sucks' ROM and it's great, looked on the Atariage store, it's $18 top stuff, then see there's no PAL cart, boo-hoo, the downside of PAL Atari's. Will check out Gravitar and Thrust.

Used to love this in the arcades, adding extra 10p's for more fuel, did anything like this come out for the 2600?

Loose carts only for me, and also just the games I want to play, when I've got all of them I might continue with the others, (well more than likely) However exception to the rule, bought Star Raiders on Ebay last week, Mint In Sealed Box with Video Touch Pad (and Atari comic and advertising brochure in the box) for £5.99 It was a multi-sale buy it now the guy had nine, whereas people were bidding up to fifteen quid for just a second hand touchpad at the same time. Low and behold it arrived and it was brand new (but twenty odd years old) sealed and everything a real steal, his bidding ended with eight left. The Video Touch Pad needed to be forced in the Woody due to 'newness'. Sorry gone off on a tangent, moral of the tale, was going to bin the box, but thought that would be a crime, so have kept it, to er... look at now and again. (Before anyone says anything, I didn't mention it here because it looked too good to be true, I thought the ad looked a little shady, and dreaded the prospect of people been done then complaining that I sent them there, but it certainly wasn't shady, the seller was great, quick delivery and all can't fault at all. The guy has a web address if anyone want's to get one from him it's www.looted.co.uk can't vouch for private sales though this was bought through ebay).

As mentioned earlier, dishwasher is by far the best bet, it works great for the six swith woody, take the insides out there isn't much in there and stick the two halves of the shell in, it will gleam. The serial number sticker on the bottom if still intact and precious may well survive but soak it warm water to take it off if you want to keep it then pritt-stik it on afterwards. You won't warp the shell if you put on a low temp around 30C and put it on economy wash so it's not in there for ages. Even on a normal to high wash it shouldn't warp, but to be safe. The dishwasher as well well as making the exterior look like new will deffos great rid of the odour also (if not which is unlikely do it a second time) The electonics inside, well the only thing I can reccomend is stick them on a tray and let them sit in somewhere with a draft (but not damp) for 2 days, not sure best way for them, but the dishwasher I use to get casings look like new. Top stuff.

Cheers for CPUWIZ that's top, I'm going to give that try over the next month or two, I'll have to get to get my hands on a 7800 first.

I'm looking for documentation regarding equipment required to transfer some of my PAL carts to ROM files. The majority of ROMs available are NTSC, I wouldn't mind getting an A26 Maxi Cart when released and would like to back up my PAL roms, save them to hard disk and then load them on to the Maxicart. Some of my carts are starting to play up and are tempremental about working this way I can save them and play as and when in the future. Any leads on this one? Thanks

Phoenix Pal does anyone know anything about this????
belty replied to BigFairy321's topic in Atari 2600
Going by the current economic climate with the US dollar being so weak and the UK pound so strong our PAL Phoenix carts selling at a £1 a piece in the UK work out at... tap tap... hang on just using my abacus... click... click... at roughly $117.34 a piece. Wow! PAL Phoenix is so expensive, therefore it must be very rare. There we go a little maths and knowledge of the global exchange rate mechanism incorporating domestic economic trends we can prove the cost and reflective rarity value of a 20 year old game... I think. -
Yars' Revenge, in any shape or form, can you believe that! Note: Moderators it is your duty to ban me from this forum with an answer like that.

It was Tescos own brand I'm afraid but have being doing off-licence research there's loads of wooden crate type things out there. Mint. How was the wine, dunno I can't see anymore, but have storage for 7322 loose carts now. -Belty P.S. Spitfire Attack is ace, just thought I'd throw that in, got it in the post the other day.
-
Ayup there, just thought I'd put this picture up, bought a 3 pack of wine from Tesco (UK supermarket) and the wood box makes a great storage system for loose carts, might get a couple more to stack, goes well with the 'woody'. Top stuff.

Thanks guys, I'll try that, likewise Rudi if you have a PAL going spare, I'd be willing to trade. Cheers

Hmmm.... Interesting... I'm going to test that theory out, thanks for that.

Anyone know where I can get hold of one of these on a PAL system (did it come out on PAL), I've been scouring web for ages trying to track one down. If not in existance is there any retailers or likewise that do reproductions/conversions for this title to PAL? It's a fine game. Belty

I've just picked up a second six switch woody and the vision has a couple of problems, plain background colours look (in the best way I can describe it) similar to the macro blocking of Jpeg compression also moving elements have a slight ghost image to the right of them. I'm guessing it is probably to do with the RF modulator. The RF lead though is pretty long about three times normal length, I've opened the system up and the lead that connects to the RF unit looks like a genuine Atari one at both ends but there again it doesn't seem standard. I am going to swap the leads with another system in case it is RF interference on the lead but I doubt that though. Any ideas? Anyone else had this problem is it likely to be graphical related or RF related? This is a PAL system by the way.

Recently on this forum I stated that Pac Man was crap saying it was not good in the day and it still isn't, likewise I said Asteroids was borderline however Space Invaders a true classic. Well with my flippant tendancies coupled within a certain bout of whimsy I played Asteroids again and found I liked it and got hooked. No doubt I will have a relapse though. Anyway I stand firm with Pac Man. I therefore throw down the gauntlet, this thread has been officially blessed by all religions except the Moonies and has become a makeshift temporary confessional booth. If you have secretly harboured the notions for many years that Pac Man is a frustrating waste of time, you may confess here in utmost privacy and dignity. You will not be judged and thought less of for your historical gaming prowess and made to feel small that you idolised a character, bought stickers and such merchandise but could not admit even to yourself that everything it stood for was crap. Think of this as a self help group, to make everyone feel comfortable I'll go first. "Hello my name is Belty and think Pac-Man is... ahem.. er..." Sorry, I must relax, breath deeply, I'll try again, sorry I'm very nervous, ok, I'm ready. "Hellomynameisbeltyandithinkpacmaniscrap" phew, I can't believe I did it, that feels so much better, I feel I can live a normal life now. Right I'm off fishing.

Does anyone know of any 2600 or Mame emulaters that run on a Playstation 1 or any methods that will enable this? If not Playstation 1 any other CD based consoles? Cheers Belty

I know the acrylic/vinyl inks used for T-shirt screen printing are good for this type of job. When applied neat with a brush the paint/ink applies rock hard and is resilient to wear but can be easily wiped off later with thinners. I believe it's fairly easy to get hold of. I say this because a mate of mine did a touch up job for me on a plastic eighties action figure once and it looked great.

Saikyo your quite right about using ROMS you don't own been illegal. I don't agree with software piracy, I'm a photographer and all my software for that purpose is 100% legal and registered on two machines those been Windows, MS Office, Photoshop etc. However... I'm not going to lose much sleep over Atari ROMS as they are readily available and are not available new anymore (apart from homebrew those cases respected). Besides, the way I understand the law with this area, the ROM has to come from your own cart, even though this is obviously difficult to prove with digital data, but a slight variation between the two and it's infringement. I play a game on the emulator, if I like it I then hunt down a copy, sat at the computer is not the real deal, cans of Fosters in front if the TV is. I'm sure though, everybody has had at some point an album taped for them which is the same thing. I'm sure this piracy thing though has been rattled out many times though in forums. Saikyo you are quite right though to point this out, because... well... it's true and has to be considered.
