  1. PC Magic the Gathering Arena (883 min) RimWorld (508 min) Xenocrisis (42 min) OQ Beat Saber (257 min) Busy weekend, where I do the majority of my gaming, so not much RW and not much to say about it either. MTGA released their Alchemy format, which is digital only, allowing them to buff or nerf unbalanced cards, as well as add cards that have effects that can really only be done in a digital format. The cards are cool, but it really is kind of a cash grab, as Alchemy cards are only usable in Alchemy games, so I don't want to spend in game currency on them (and definitely not real world currency, either). Also played a bit a Xenocrisis online with a friend.
  2. PC Magic the Gathering Arena (1089 min) RimWorld (716 min) OQ Beat Saber (307 min) Should be representing Sony here in the future, as I've got a PS5 coming. Canadian Game Stop had a ridiculous deal this weekend for trading in PS4s towards a PS5. I got $20 less that I paid for my 1TB PS4 Slim, plus it allowed me to essentially order a PS5 without trying to get lucky. Still going to mainly be using my PC to game, but I'm looking forward to some exclusive games like Spider-Man and Horizon. The RW game continues. The game hasn't ramped up the difficulty yet, so I've been able to take care of the usual nightmares that are infestations and mech incursions relatively easily. Finally got a prosthetic for my amputee and I've added a camel and a couple elephants to help with carting stuff home from excursions.
  3. PC Hero Realms (49 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (849 min) RimWorld (1071 min) OQ Beat Saber (235 min) The RW game continues, and while it was nice starting with a base with some interesting ancient devices and vault walls that a re nearly impervious to destruction, it's tough keeping the group to five people (there's only so much room in the base, and the Ancients AI will make things very difficult for me if I go above 5). I have 1 doctor and if she goes down, there's going to be problems (already had to remove her right arm due to infection, because the person treating her had little medical skill). I have two okay cooks, but they had to practice to get there, and there's still some food poisoning once in a while. No one is any good at crafting, and while I just acquired the tech to make prosthetics (to help with the one-armed doc), but no one is skilled enough to make it. So this is challenging, but I'm enjoying it. There was a constructed event using on the new Crimson Vow cards in Arena this week, and I was able to make a nigh unbeatable and fun to play mono white deck, and spent much of my time this week playing that.
  4. PC Arsène Bomber (181 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (1103 min) RimWorld (318 min) Wildermyth (321 min) Xenocrisis (18 min) OQ Beat Saber (316 min) So, Magic dominated again this week. Played a few sealed events, which really is luck of the draw, as you get six packs of cards and have to make a deck out of it, then try to win up to 7 matches before getting 3 losses . The past 2 weeks I've gone 6-3, 0-3, 3-3, 7-1, 1-3, 0-3. Really depends on what cards I happen to get, but it does help build my Vow collection. Tried out Wildermyth. Cool game, its an RPG that's procedurally generated. Even the conversations appear to pro-gened, as I was wondering where the studio was located because the writing seemed...not very well translated. Turns out the developer is in Austin, Texas, lol. The game is fun, the first chapter took about 6 hours, certainly coming back to continue it. But, in the meantime, I got the itch for RimWorld again. A new mod was released where you can play as members of the Ancients, the race that left all the high-tech ruins that's scattered across the planet. Started as one person in a vault. I had to hack four nearly-impossible-to-damage doors to finally get outside. The vault was self-sustaining, but sitting in there with not much to do was driving the character crazy. Once she opened up outside, she hacked a couple of cryosleep chambers, hoping the people inside would just join with her and not attack her in cryosleep madness. Luckily it was the former... Played online on Sunday with my brother and a buddy. Arsène Bomber is a Bomberman clone with a lot of different modes. Lotsa fun, but man do I suck at it haha.
  5. PC Forza Horizon 5 (735 min) Hero Realms (156 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (1226 min) OQ Beat Saber (341 min) Jumped into Forza this week. I've played every Forza game since FM3, and they keep getting better, especially the Horizon franchise. The Mexican flavor to this one is cool. As expected, I spent a bunch of time with Magic. Once Crimson Vow came out, I played a Sealed event, and went 6-3 (definitely bad luck not getting the 7th win, my cards were ridiculous) and then played again and went 0-3 as my cards were not so good. Updated some decks and built some new ones. Looks like a cool set, who doesn't like vampire weddings?
  6. PC Hero Realms (174 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (974 min) Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy (199 min) OQ Beat Saber (229 min) My MtG playing is increasing each week. So many cool games I want to get to, and I keep going back to my ftp card game chicken soup, lol. Innistrad: Crimson Vow comes out this week, so it probably won't be less next week... I did start GotG, which is both amazing and infuriating. The story is great, the acting is great, the graphics are great. The soundtrack is amazing! The gameplay is...mostly pretty good? But I got to a part where I was stuck with just Star Lord in a fight and it was insane. I think I spent about a 45 mins on what may in fact be the most stressfully frustrating gameplay sequence I've ever experienced (and I did the Spider-Man DLC Screwball chase 37 times before beating it - not an exaggeration). Hopefully these split-up-from-the-group scenes don't happen often...I've stubbornly refused to drop the difficulty, but if that's the only thing stopping me from really enjoying the game, might need to do it.
  7. PC Age of Empires IV (203 min) Hero Realms (216 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (942 min) OQ Beat Saber (322 min) Really busy week, so getting a few games of MtG or HR fit my schedule more than any longform games. I don't want to give up on Disco Elysium, but my time with it so far hasn't grabbed me. Usually both puzzle-y and narrative games are my jam, but I find DE a bit tedious. I did update the PC to Windows 11, and I wanted to test out the auto HDR function, so I tried out the recently released AoE4, despite RTS being one of my least favorite genres. Only finished the first couple chapters of the tutorial Norman campaign, but it's not terrible.
  8. PC Disco Elysium (302 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (596 min) OQ Beat Saber (351 min) Definitely down on game time this week. Didn't start Disco Elysium until the weekend. Different RPG, for sure, very puzzle-y, lots and lots of dialogue, no real fighting to speak of. Pretty dour atmosphere; the protagonist is an alcoholic that literally can't remember anything at the beginning of the game after a binge (you can actually ask some union workers, "What's a strike?" lol). A lot of inner dialogue and your ugly necktie screams insanely at you. Neat. Man, I'm falling down the MtG hole...YT channels, podcats, blogs...send help. Played regularly back in the 90's when it was shiny new. Shame I got rid of my cards, I could have bought a house with them today...
  9. PC Hero Realms (96 min) HUMANKIND (872 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (519 min) OQ Beat Saber (364 min) Took just 13 hours to play a complete game of Humankind. It arbitrarily ends at 300 turns, which, in real world tech level, is the mid renaissance; I had just been able to set up my first off-starting-continent colony, and had just researched tech for musketmen. So it really feels like it ended way too early. I went with pretty much default settings, so perhaps there's a way to change that. The way cultures work in the game, you start with a bronze age culture, then as you move to new ages, you pick a new appropriate-age culture (or get a point bonus and keep your old culture). Picking when to change ages is interesting, you can change when you get 7 milestones, but there are 21 potential milestones to reach and get extra fame for each one (which is game score). Changing culture earlier lets you pick from more possibilities and lets you move up into the age-appropriate tech, while sticking to the old one even after getting your 7th milestone lets you get more points. So, it being my first game, I came in 3rd out of 5. I went Zhou (Ancient), Zhou (Classical), Ghanaian (Medieval), and ended with Spanish (Early Modern). Interesting take on a 4x game, I'll be coming back to it soon, but onto finally getting to Disco Elysium next.
  10. PC DEATHLOOP (467 min) Hero Realms (198 min) Fire Pro Wrestling World (185 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (723 min) OQ Beat Saber (277 min) Same list of games from last week, but the game time is higher. Was too tired to game much during the week, but a long weekend helped out. Finished up DL yesterday. Odd ending, looks like Arkane might be planning a sequel. Played Fire Pro online with my brother. He usually owns me on games where timing is important, but he was pretty frustrated to not be able to win a single match all evening. MtG seems to be eating up more and more minutes every week. I didn't think I'd still be playing, but I'm enjoying trying out different decks.
  11. PC DEATHLOOP (356 min) Hero Realms (222 min) Fire Pro Wrestling World (251 min) Magic the Gathering Arena (588 min) OQ Beat Saber (195 min) Less gaming this week, I've been watching more TV and movies lately. Almost done with DL. I'm getting a bit cocky and trying to ninja across the levels and dying when I shouldn't be. Downloaded a bunch of wrestlers on the workshop for Fire Pro, so still having some fun with that. Lacking a bunch of Beat Saber time, as I've got an issue with my shoulder that needs to go away already. Being old sucks.
  12. PC DEATHLOOP (687 min) Fire Pro Wrestling World (293 min) Hero Realms (222min) Magic: the Gathering Arena (673 min) OQ Beat Saber (327 min) DL is my GOTY so far, for sure. Very satisfying gameplay and unwinding the web to figure how to complete the game is a lot of fun. Picked up Fire Pro on sale this week and gave it a go. I've never played a FPW game before (I mean, aside from it's granddaddy, Pro Wrestling on NES), so I'm still getting used to figuring out the timing on lockups, but there is a fun game there.
  13. PC DEATHLOOP (571 min) Hero Realms (171 min) Magic: the Gathering Arena (575 min) OQ Beat Saber (248 min) What's with games going all caps in their titles these days? FUSER, HUMANKIND, and now DEATHLOOP. lol Anyway, DL is awesome. Apparently, it's having issues for some people with stuttering or something, but I haven't had any problems. Wait, not no problems. In fact, yesterday I lost an hour and half when my game crashed near the end of a mission. And the way the game works, it doesn't let you save whenever, it's old school in that you need to finish a mission and get back to your base or start over next time. So that sucked, but at least I know where to go now after spending much of that 1.5 hours trying to figure how to get where I needed to go... Midnight Hunt came out in MTGA and I went 7-2 on my first draft run not really knowing the new cards, so that was exciting. I just tried to build a deck around one of the new abilities (Coven) which ended up being a white/green human tribal deck that started 0-2 but then I ran off 7 wins in a row. Billie Eilish map set is coming out today for BS, so looking forward to that. I've got an unofficial map of Bad Guy that's pretty good, so looking forward to seeing (inevitably very challenging) official map looks like...
  14. PC Hero Realms (450 min) Magic: the Gathering Arena (454 min) RimWorld (784 min) OQ Beat Saber (354 min) Finished unlocking my 80 mastery levels for the FR set in MTGA, just in time, as the new Innistrad set releases on Thursday. Also, the older sets are moving out of standard and into historic play, so that will help with my competitiveness. And speaking of releases, Deathloop comes out tomorrow, so I think the RW game is hitting the back burner for now while I jump into that. As for the RW game, it's going pretty well. I've got 9 sets of armor for problems with mechs, but there hasn't been anything too stressful happening for the past week, so I've been able to focus on improving the base.
  15. Maybe more like playing an app on Galaxy 8 vs a Galaxy 21, but yeah. So just report it as Quest, kinda like reporting Android games as Android? I know there are games that are Q2 only, but they're pretty rare, and it might take someone else joining in to affect the list, as you can see, my VR variety is, um, lacking. lol
