  1. Devlover's E3 conferences are always so insane, I never know if what they announce is a real thing or not. Well, this is real.
  2. Do you wish you could pay more for Xbox Game Pass, have it work like Playstation Now, but actually get to buy the games that aren't a few years old? Well, you're in luck! Now, there's Stadia. Ask your out-of-touch Silicon Valley VC if Stadia is right for you.
  3. This is obviously going to use the cheapest parts available. Which I guess might be fine for people that don't know any better, I guess. Unless it's so cheap it breaks easily. I suppose this is aimed at those that are interested in other AtGames stuff.
  4. Pros: Open world, cool. Stealth-ish? Nice. Great cast of actors Mixed: Kojima. His games are solid (pun intended), but damn confusing, story-wise. This looks very Kojima. But is it open world? It almost looks like a movie, ala Naughty Dog's stuff. Tough to do a strong story-based open-world game. That said, I still like railroady narrative games if the narrative is strong. Cons: What the hell is going on? Is it a game? A movie? Will the story make any sense? While I appreciate the quality of the Metal Gear games, they weren't really my cup of tea. I have a funny feeling this may be the case here, too.
  5. PC Crusader Kings II (1491 min) Almost done my Ireland game, but falling short of my goal of uniting Britannia. Less than capable heirs, disgruntled siblings and Welsh and Scottish vassals, and needing to go to war with brothers that get half the kingdom when a ruler dies because of the inheritance laws made this a tough job. Two-thirds of England are still independent and there's only 25 years left before the game ends. Apparently, it's easier to do with the expansions, which I picked up this weekend on sale, but I'll be moving on to a different region next game. XB1 Borderlands 2 (219 min) Had time to continue my co-op game of BL2 with my brother. Love this game, can't wait for the new one!
  6. Arcade Arkanoid (11 min) Donkey Kong (10 min) Robotron 2048 (8 min) NES 1942 (10 min) A bit of arcade time this weekend featuring games I both love and suck at playing. Also picked up a 1942 NES cart, which I cleaned and tested.
  7. Wow, and here I thought I was spending too much time on CKII! I don't blame you though, I've spent hundreds of hours on Elder Scrolls and Falout games... PC Crusader Kings II (2121 min) My attempt to reign over Espania just fell short with one bad linage where everything fell apart because my vassels hated the moron son that took control in the mid 1200's. So, I started again in 1106, this time with the petty king of Mumu attempting to take control of Ireland, and then Bretannia. So far, 4 generations in Ireland and Wales are conquered. Scotland has had a lot of revolts so I'm hoping it's not too tough, then I should have de jour casus belli over England to form Bretannia (assuming all goes as planned...that's a big assumption).
  8. PC Crusader Kings 2 (1574 min) Watching some history videos on the Crusades on YouTube last weekend led to me firing up CK2 for the first time in 7 years, and now I'm obsessed with trying to reconstruct the Reconquista of the Iberian peninsula. But Spain sure wasn't built in a day....
  9. Atari 2600 H.E.R.O. (15 min) Pole Position (10 min) Pressure Cooker (12 min) I did not get more 2600 play this week, as planned, thanks to a "one more turn" modern game....
  10. Enclosed? So was the light direct exposure or was there glass in between? Part of the theory behind this is that windows block the UV but the heat from the sunlight could cause the discoloring...
  11. Whoops, almost for got I played some more co-op BL2, as well... XB1 Borderlands 2 (149 min)
  12. PC The Battle for Wesnoth (713 min) So, I found this open-source turn-based strategy game ( https://www.wesnoth.org/ ) that reminds me of a sort of a fantasy Advance Wars. Played the first couple single player campaigns, fun game.
  13. Atari 2600 Robot Tank (8 min) Seaquest (8 min) Solaris (10 min) Tutankham (8 min) Got the 2600 out this weekend, but didn't get as much play in as I'd wanted. Long weekend up here next weekend, so hopefully I can fix that!
  14. Those refer to the buttons on the console.
  15. Yeah, that's a good point. I only ever use the RA UI for tweeking settings and use a front end for the actually gaming, so I never thought of that. Most emulators have pretty poor/ugly UIs, though.
  16. When was the last time you used Retroarch? It was clunky when I first encountered it years ago, but it gets regular updates and seems like an odd thing to loathe.
  17. PS4 God of War (321 min) Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Remastered (124 min) XB1 Borderlands 2 (179 min) Finished Uncharted 2, it was a bit shorter than expected, but it was enjoyable. So, I finally started God of War, I'm seeing why it has gotten the accolades that it has. Also continued my co-op game of BL2, up to level 11.
  18. Atari 2600 Frogger (10 min) Keystone Kapers (15 min) Ms Pac-Man (5 min) Solar Fox (10 min) Stampede (7 min) Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (21 min) Tapeworm (5 min) Picked up a Retron77 now that the Stella guys got 6.0 on it, so tested out some carts on it. I like the Trooper controller.
  19. Can someone else try running Robot Tank from cart with this build? My cart works fine in my heavy sixer, but when I turn it on in the R77, I get a vertically garbled "Switching to reserve tank" message, and the game won't start. I haven't tried all my carts yet, but a random selection of about dozen others seem to work fine.
  20. How about that A77? It breaks if you stare it for too long...
  21. Sorry to burst bubbles, but if someone has a YouTube and/or Twitch channel, they are seeking attention. It goes hand-in-hand, no one does it for altruism or anything.
  22. Yep, that's a good one. I like watching electronic builds/hacks/restorations, too. I'm glad Ben Heck still does stuff on his personal channel now that he retried from his sponsored show.
  23. I watch a lot of YT. Here's the channels I'm subscribed to that are retro gaming, or at least include a fair bit of retro gaming: Classic Gaming Quarterly Daniel Ibbertson Digitiser2000 Erin Plays Friday Night Arcade Game Sack Gaming Historian (aside: this was the channel that got me into watching YT regularly. As stated above, it's really well done) Generation 16 HdE's Totally Unoriginal Gaming Show Jeremy Parish John Hancock Kelsey Lewin LGR Madlittlepixel MetalJesusRocks Modern Vintage Gamer Ms Mad Lemon My Life In Gaming NESComplex Nostagia Nerd Octav1us Pat the NES Punk Perifractic's Retro Recipes Player One Start PushingUpRoses Retro Recollections Retro Replay RetroManCave Stop Skeletons From Fighting The 8-Bit Guy
