Coffee Talk (358 min)

Oculus Quest
Beat Saber (302 min)
FitXR (98 min)
Android Phone
Cytus II (37 min)
Finished the 1st episode of LiS2. It's okay, but it doesn't nearly live up to its predecessor (or the prequel). The story is about two kid brothers on the run, and the constantly changing setting plus the annoying younger brother, Daniel, made me want to move to something else before going to episode 2. Luckily, Dontnod's new game, Tell Me Why, released it's first episode this weekend, and that was great. Happy to hear that this game's episodes are releasing weekly, so that's cool.
Continuing with another narrative game, Coffee Talk has you play as a barista in a coffee shop, that's only open at night, and in Seattle in a world where fantasy races live. You listen to customers converse and try to solve problems while trying to not screw up their drink orders. Weird, but relaxing. Also played a rhythm game for a bit on my phone.

I don't think so. I flew over some pretty tiny "airports", but that one didn't pop up.

Life is Strange 2 (57 min)
Microsoft Flight Simulator (519 min)
Terraforming Mars (189 min)
Oculus Quest
Beat Saber (366 min)
Fit XR (83 min)
Tried to make up for some lost time last week. Still on a narrative game kick, starting and completing Acting Lessons and Kathy Rain, one an adult visual novel, the other a retro style point and click adventure, and I've now started Life is Strange 2. CrossCells is a numbers-based logic puzzle game that seems more like a mobile game, but I have it on Steam. Got some flying time in with Flight Simulator; they ain't kidding about the simulator part. Both relaxing and stressful (I had to do the landing tutorial a few times...). Played another game of TM and lost horribly.

Finally got some time with this. Did the Cessna tutorial (the landing one a few times, lol) and then went to open world where I could fly anywhere...and proceeded to start at the airport I can pretty much spit on from my place (Edmonton International) for a short commute flight to Calgary. Very interesting mix of relaxing and stressful.

Started and finished a mystery point-and-click called Kathy Rain yesterday. Pretty good story, I'm usually a fan of p-a-c adventures, but this was good.

FitXR (93 min)
Definitely the shortest amount of play time I've recorded since joining in here... Getting ill Monday morning and not really recovering until Thursday put a huge dent in the gaming, and when I was feeling better, I continued just watching tv and movies, aside from getting back into my daily VR workout. I do want to finish Hitman and get started on something new this week though.

Teens that don't give a fig aren't good at dealing retro items. You really need to know what you're doing when dealing with older stuff. This is why all of their retro ventures failed.

There’s usually only 2-3 games a year I’m interested in playing on new platforms. Maybe that numbers going to skyrocket in the future? I’d like to own my games just in case they disappear from game pass.
That makes sense to me. If I only wanted to watch one or two things on Netflix every year, there's no way I'd pay for a subscription to it.

Right? The middle-of-the-road PC I built last year is a bit better than recommended, but not much. Optimal settings is for enthusiasts that like to throw around $5k every couple years to play 300 fps at 8k for some reason.

Life is Strange (1114 min)
PC
Democracy 3 (610 min)
Dicey Dungeons (73 min)
Oculus Quest
Beat Saber (376 min)
FitXR (75 min) [was BoxVR]
Considering how much I liked playing it 5 years ago (and it was 5 years ago, not 7, the "2013" date on the save file was the in-game date), I was surprised how much I forgot about LiS, aside from a few key moments, including pretty much everything about the last two episodes. So that made replaying a lot more enjoyable. The first episode is free on all the platforms it's on (which is everything) if you've never checked it out.
Saw that Democracy 4 is coming out and remembered I have, but never played, Democracy 3. One of the campaigns, I tried simulating the current administration in the US. Through the 4-year term, GDP dropped like a rock, which lead to Extreme Nationalism, which lead to Race Riots, and the term ended with Contagious Disease. Story checks out.
Dicey Dungeons is a cool "dice builder", definitely check more of that out this week.

The thing is BoxVR = FitXR, it's a rename, not a different game.
The company's name is FitXR, so I guess they're just changing it to that.

So, looks like BoxVR is getting a big update tomorrow that comes with a name change: FitXR. Not sure I've ever seen that before, same game, new name. How we going to work with that, just update the name in the database, I guess?

Life Is Strange: Before the Storm (510 min)
Two Point Hospital (621 min)
Oculus Quest
Beat Saber (343 min)
BoxVR (88 min)
2PH is pretty cool, but I think I've played enough. I may come back to it, but each new level it gets old setting up the same starting rooms to get things going.
I played the original Life Is Strange back in the summer of 2013 and really liked it, so I picked up Before the Storm a couple years ago, and then never played it, so I decided to fix that. Max's time rewind gimmick from the first game is replaced in this one by Chloe's big mouth, lol. It's a mini game where you have insult, distract, confuse, or otherwise verbally one up someone by picking the correct response to what they say to you. That's pretty much it for "game" in this game, but the story is top notch, apparently written by Ashley Birch, VA for Chloe (and a million other video game characters).
Blew through it over the weekend, it's not that long, but I think I'll revisit the original this week. Lots of callbacks in the prequel, and I'm sure there's a lot I didn't pick up having forgotten a lot of the original game.

Meh. I haven't been impressed by a launch console since I was a kid. I also have a PC, and Gamepass Ultimate, so the cool looking MS games are available to me without a Series X. And I know I'll get a PS5 eventually in order to play the far-in-the-future Spider-Man 2 and Last of Us 3 games, but it'll be a cheap 2nd hand one, or whatever the new upgraded version is (hopefully black and less goofy looking).

Finished the New Game+ for both The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II over the past couple weeks. I liked that I could make a custom difficulty this time around with TLOU2. I hated not being able to find any consumables on Survivor+, so I made the stealth and enemies Survivor+ level, my controls Hard+, and lootables Normal+. Great game, even the second time around in a month.

Decided to not finish the collectibles after finishing my NG+ run on TLOU2, I missed a lot more than I thought. Will play again sometime.
Two Point Hospital took over my life this week. Love my sim games and this is a worthy spiritual successor to Theme Hospital. Also played some Soulcalibur with my brother, as well as another level of HFF.

I'll play it eventually. I have no interest right now in anything with a narrative, TLOU2 kinda ruined other games for me. Time for some strategy sims on my PC...

It took one day for me to get the email so just be patient not sure also if this is a limited time thing. After I got the email the game showed up in my Uplay account
Ubisoft Forward was their version of a Nintendo Direct in place of E3. Ubisoft Backward is how their executives in Montreal act.

A lot like last week. TLOU2 NG+ game is nearing the end. I'll probably go back to chapters where I missed a few collectibles to get the platinum trophy since I'm pretty close when it's over. And even though I've done two complete playthroughs, I'm looking forward to it. The gameplay is just so satisfying and intense.
Won the game of Terraforming Mars that I played with a couple of friends on Friday. Was going to play SC6 with my brother, my that got sidelined, so the few minutes I played to learn the controls and mess around with the character creator is all I have this week.
