  1. You never know, there's a new Telltale that has the Batman and Wolf Among Us licenses. But I would think it'd be a narrative re-imagining, TT has never really done arcade style games.
  2. I'm just saying that, yes, it will persist, even between gens. At least for XBox, we still don't know much about PS5 other than the logo... Granted, I think MS said there were no next gen exclusives only for the first year, but that's pretty significant.
  3. 8k is not going to be consumer friendly. You either need at least a 90 inch screen, or sit a foot away from the screen to see the difference from 4k. Our eyes can't tell the difference in resolution otherwise.
  4. I didn't mean to make it a direct metaphor, just that they are similar in that there is a range in the pricing, depending on what you get. The range of an XBox is much smaller, with it's current 3 flavors (and bundles, I guess). Though, the Pi=bike works. Both kinda do what the more expensive versions do, just not as much and not as well.
  5. PC's are like cars, you can spend whatever you want, depending on what you're looking for. You can buy a Raspberry Pi for $35 or spend $10k on an enthusiast monster PC build.
  6. In fact, the new Xbox will play everything an Xbox1 can play (including OG Xbox and 360 backwards compatible titles), plus be able to use all the peripherals an Xbox1 can use. These things are basically specialized PCs at this point, so backwards compatibility isn't as tough as it used to be.
  7. Microsoft is looking more and more platform agnostic every day. Sony has dipped it's toe in the water. Nintendo has a rabid guard dog on the other side of its walled garden.
  8. XB1 Shadow of the Tomb Raider (737 min) Oculus Quest Beat Saber (475 min) So this week looks a lot like last week for me. I'm in the 3rd act of SotTR, but I'm also going back to do all the tombs and crypts I missed and gather the collectibles, so that's extending the game a bit. I don't usually bother doing that anymore, but I did it for the first two games in the series. I'm kind of in a frustrating spot in BS, where I feel I should always be able to beat Expert and Hard is getting a tad too easy, but that often isn't the case. Not all songs are equal, so rationally, I know that isn't necessarily true, but I still get annoyed when I fail to pass 3 songs in a row. It takes focus, too, and some days are better than others for that, so that's a thing, too. Still enjoying it overall though.
  9. XB1 Shadow of the Tomb Raider (628 min) Oculus Quest Beat Saber (468 min) Another week, another 8 hours of Beat Saber. And I'm still not getting tired of it (as opposed to it tiring me; it does that every time, lol). My link cable came today, so that opens up my SteamVR library, and I'm interested in checking out Moss, Superhot, and Space Pirate Trainer. One of the games I was happy to get access to when I started my Game Pass sub was Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I played the first two TR reboot games and really liked them, but hadn't played Shadow yet. And then I put off playing it until it left the service last week. Oy. But then, I saw the definitive edition of the game was on sale last week, so I ordered it and started playing this week. I heard that this game wasn't as good as the previous two (probably leading to my putting off playing it), but I really don't see that, though it's been a few years since I played Rise. I'm having fun stealth killing and taking leaps of faith while hanging off of cliffsides.
  10. Keep an eye on Fanatical, they're doing a run of bundle sales. This one is sold out, unfortunately, and you can probably see why... https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/killer-bundle-12
  11. FG isn't a game. It's an online virtual RPG tabletop. The "DLC" is just RPG books imported to be used in games. You can play without them, the virtual "books" just help automate character gen and some of the mathy stuff during play.
  12. PC Blood Bowl 2 (1271 min) Oculus Quest Beat Saber (398 min) Not much to say on BS. I managed to beat a Babymetal song (Distortion) on Hard, which is kinda like beating a low-end Expert+ regular song...so there's that. Last summer I picked up the BB2 DLC on sale and I've finally got around to playing. I played a couple single player 7-game leagues with an Amazon team. And the AI, while not horrible, also isn't all that great. I've been playing Blood Bowl off and on since the early 90's, so I was able to go 14-0 with 31 TDs for and 5 TDs against. So while it was fun. the lack of challenge means I'll be moving on (I don't really want to commit to any multiplayer leagues).
  13. PC Cities: Skylines (1509 min) Oculus Quest Beat Saber (458 min) Still play Beat Saber daily and getting better, playing expert for a challenge and hard for warm up and cool down. Started a new city in C:S, and while I enjoy the game, it seems to lose its charm when the city hits 25k people, so I'm moving on.
  14. Right, still an epidemic. If it was a pandemic, we'd all be at home instead of at the taco factories.
  15. Hmmm, another nail in the coffin. This is what Stadia should have been. Maybe they'll pivot. Or stubbornly die. It's Google, so the latter is certainly possible, if not likely. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/02/nvidia-has-shaken-up-the-netflix-for-games-model-with-its-challenge-to-stadia/
  16. Ah, yeah, I heard about this. Kinda sucks that the PDP setting resets when you turn off your PC, hopefully that's something they can fix.
  17. This is my first interaction with any kind of VR, so I have nothing to compare it to. Yeah, the resolution isn't super crisp, but that's kind of expected. When you consider that all other VR models require the cpu, memory, and graphics processor of a PC, the fact that Quest is the cost it is and completely tetherless is quite the accomplishment. I never wanted to get a VR setup until it I had the option to play it tetherless, but still use my PC if I wanted to. The Quest fits the bill. Don't have my Link yet, does it make the Quest use the processing power of the PC to increase graphic fidelity?
  18. I'm really enjoying mine that I got a few weeks ago, but while I've tried a few different things, it's a Beat Saber device right now. Vader Immortal is very cool, but incredibly short, so make sure you get it on sale if you weren't able to get it free. I'm looking at other rhythm and fitness games like Audica, BoxVR, Pistol Whip, Dance Central, etc, but I always like to wait for the inevitable sales. Nice to see Harmonix making VR games now that Rock Band isn't a thing anymore. My love of playing drums on RB certainly translated well to enjoying Beat Saber.
  19. Yeah. Is there a future in streaming? Sure, it will definitely be a way to play games on the go. Is the The Future? Who knows? And that has nothing to do with now, where the PS5 is one of the highest selling consoles of all time, and the Switch is poised to eclipse it. And saying Stadia is The Future rings as hollow as people buying their Dreamcasts when they came out claiming Sega is going to be the worlds biggest console company ever....
  20. Oculus Quest Beat Saber (462 min) PC Cities: Skylines (1250 min) XB1 Children of Morta (85 min) Still playing Beat Saber every day for at least an hour. Beat the campaign after getting stuck on a level for a while. Played a couple runs of CoM earlier in the week before getting a hankerin' to build a city after reading a blog about Will Wright and the creation of SimCity, so I loaded up Cities: Skylines again. I've always been frustrated by traffic problems with this game, so I watched a couple tip videos and things are running relatively smoothly at 25k people.
  21. 2. Beat Saber (Oculus Quest) - Finally finished the campaign for this game. I was stuck for over a week on level 29, but I beat it yesterday pretty much cruised through the last two levels.
  22. 1. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (NSW) - Started this as my first post holidays game after buying it on sale in December. And I was hooked. Chose the Black Eagle House and, while I found the story twists to be a tad too predictable, it was still a really fun game. I'll definitely play it again, just not sure when, I've got a backlog the size of Texas...
  23. Only problem with the upcoming "free" part of Stadia is that you still need to buy the games...which aren't actual PC games that you can play Stadia is mothballed. If Stadia was a way to stream PC games you already own, plus maybe just another store front where you can get games, it'd be huge. But Google got greedy.
