  1. Just wanted to add that I bought one of 800_Rocks 800XLs and it was in pretty much mint condition, much nicer than I anticipated. In fact the plastic on the metal cartridge opening was still intact. Great guy to deal with, fast shipping, and very well packed. The 800XL was my first computer ever and I've been looking for one for over a year and could not be happier with the one I bought. Thanks!
  2. Yep. Memopad comes up fine with no cart installed.
  3. Which area? I'm out in Maumee. And christ...how many 800s do you have?
  4. I do have a power connector to it. And when I opened up the 800 to see if there were any issues (and to reseat the chips) I noticed a few traces on the power supply board looked like they were flaking off. Testing the connections with a multi-meter seemed to show they were ok, but bought a new board from Best because it was cheap and well....not much faith that the current 40 year old power supply was working right anyhow. And earlier I was able to get it to work, but that involved plugging in in/out a bunch of times and rebooting the 800 a lot. Eventually I was able to get it working enough to flash the firmware and now I can go to the web address for the FujiNet when it is on and that part seems to be working ok. My wife asked me what I was trying to do and I told her the FujiNet would let it connect to the internet. She was "so....a computer that was never intended to get on the internet somehow needs that?". I think it is lost on her!
  5. Last month I bought a 800 and a Fujinet - which isn't working. Since I don't have any other 8 bits or SIO devices I have no idea if the Fujinet is defective....or if the SIO on my 800 is bad. Hoping someone lives nearby where I could swing by and see which piece is the issue. Like plugging the Fujinet into another 8 bit or a drive into my 800. Thanks.
  6. I just got a fujinet and am having similar issues, did you ever find a fix? And who did you buy yours through? I'm trying to determine if there is a issue with my 800 or if the fujinet is defective.
  7. Pretty sure the 800 has never been cracked open, and since there was nothing else included in the lot, I don't even know if they ever used any peripherals. But yeah, that is where I'm at now - could be a SIO problem or a FujiNet problem, but no way to determine that right now. Or the FujiNet is technically fine, but there is an issue with the connection to the SIO plug like possibly a bad or loose solder joint.
  8. How would I tell? I did see that Print Peek(65528) returns 243. Which should be the latest ROMS based on this... https://atariwiki.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=OS Versions Unfortunately I bought it as part of a 2600 lot and outside of a few game carts, nothing else came with it. So can't test the SIO port with something like a floppy drive. And don't have access to another 8-bit to see if the FujiNet works on that. Maybe I can find another Atari person in the NW Ohio area and see if it works on their system. I did plan on taking apart the machine to clean it, reseat the chips, and see if there were any obvious problems like failing caps. But for the most part, everything on it has seemed to work fine.....except for the FujiNet.
  9. The HSIO index? By default it was 6 and I pretty much tried every value thinking the SIO port was timing out or something. Nothing made a difference.
  10. Should have mentioned that - I do have it powered externally. And I can go to the FujiNet through a web browser as well even if the 800 is off.
  11. So, a few weeks back I bought a 800 after hearing about the FujiNet. Finally got it yesterday and nothing but issues so far, starting to wonder if it is defective. Most of the time I'll try to boot it and will get nothing, occasionally I'll hear the SIO beeping then it will stop and it will just sit there, other times I'll get a BOOT ERROR, or it will just go to the READY prompt. A few times it actually did boot to the config screen. But if I reboot the computer after that it will not work again. Tried flashing it thinking that would help but nope. This is the output from when it just booted to the READY prompt. Is the CHECKSUM_ERROR an indicator of an issue? Anything else I can try? thx Using '/dev/cu.usbserial-10' as serial port.
