  1. Use a multitester to check continuity between every "pin shoulder" and the next component point (like other chip or resistor). My guess is that the antic or gtia socket died, i.e. the socket is not making contact with one chip foot. To discover which one, you just need to go one by one , using the schematics as a guide to find the next component. once to discover the foot, try to fix it with contact cleaner or something or just install a good new socket.
  2. If space is available I guess the option for a sio connector might be in place..you know more options the better (as long as it is not a big burden).
  3. Hi All, I got a bunch of original diskettes and I realized that Gauntlet and Gauntlet deeper dungeons are not available in atx in Atarimania. If someone has a kyroflux to read these diskettes and send them to Atarimania, the community will appreciate it. I have no idea if the floppies are all in good condition but I am scared of destroying the data by testing them. I am located in the east coast of USA close to Washington DC.
  4. I just got to watch the last part.. It was great anyway
  5. Now I understand why it is impossible to find an 800 or 2600 heavy sixer: you keep getting all of them... I understand that you all guys have good intentions, I also have too many 800XLs because it is just sad to them go and maybe die.... Just a random though....
  6. There is no voltage to restore for the channel select switch... just get rid of the rf modulator and you are done. You can reuse the switch for other purposes IF you want.
  7. Yep, once your sio2pc arrives you need to install in your windows/mac/linux computer RespeQt, or aspeQt, and there are more. With that you can use the same ATR image you used with the Real Thing.
  8. Basically, from the Atari computer point of view, the sio2pc, sdrive-maxx, etc look like regular disk drives. So, let's say you set your real drive 1050 as drive 2 (D2:) and configure the emulated drive , let's say sio2pc, as drive 1 (D1:) and you load into that emulated drive the DOS (a DOS image you downloaded from internet, which is a file which contains the whole diskette data). Then you just power up the Atari, and by default it will boot using the D1: and it will get you to the DOS menu. After that, you use an option in the dos menu to duplicate a diskette, so you can do duplicate D1: into D2:, so then you will have a copy of DOS in D2: which happen to be your real drive. It is a good idea to read a document (someone please help me here since I could not find it) created by a member of this forum, with multiple "activities" or projects to do with your Atari, from very simple to complicated. I guess one of the activities is to create a real diskette from a disk image download from internet. He explains better than I. edit: found!: http://atariprojects.org/2018/09/29/connect-your-atari-computer-to-a-pc-15-30-mins/ http://atariprojects.org/2018/08/26/make-new-floppy-disks-15-30-mins/
  9. I am sure some member can send you a Dos diskette (where are you located?). But in reality, you need some kind of disk drive emulation solution in the long term. Even if you really like to recreate the 80's experience and keep using the 1050, something like sio2pc will help you to copy the software downloaded from internet to real diskettes (like that dos diskette you need).
  10. Regarding the gray code support , it depends on the model of the trackball as I remember. The direction + speed version as far as I remember is what the 5200 trackball does. I modified one to make it work with 8bit computer missile command. Then I discovered that missile command also works with ST mouse, without any modification: that is pretty interesting and remarkable, I guess since my understanding was that cx22/cx80 in true trackball mode and ST mouse are different and need different routines .
  11. I would to know that since the FujiNet I built I got lazy and I only connected dout, din and command signals
  12. my understanding is you need to provide a WD1772 floppy controller chip and replace the WD1770 to be able to get to the 720kb.
  13. Mouser.com has the replacement of the sensor for 1050 according to some YouTube video I saw. I have not tested myself if it work, but I see no problem with it. The part number is opb842w51z as mentioned before. Not sure it will work with Indus.
  14. Using qt59 and a very old ubuntu I couldn't compile from sources the new RespeQt 5.2. It fails in diskimage.cpp ambiguous overload of [] operator (probably an easy fix). However, last week I compiled the latest version from ebiguy github repository without problems... That is weird...
  15. There was a 64k pal version with samples. I kept playing that version on my ntsc machine, because I like to have the samples, even if it was playing a little faster. So 64k pal with samples is not new.. Or I am remember incorrectly? Maybe only some samples?
  16. I called it with a stress in the "TE" syllable, because I only spoke Spanish at that time, and that's the word we use for a person that practice Karate. Anyway, I guess is OK to call it as you wish. In general, I am still calling games as I called them back in the day when I had no knowledge of English, since that's how I grew up calling them... even though, I know that's totally incorrect... examples: mon pa'h-trol mee-seel cohman That is just an interesting topic, since I still have to stop and think and translate every time I speak in English about Atari.. like "I have an eight hundred ex el" , instead of an "ochocientos equis ele".
  17. That's the question... I am trying to understand how A8cas works.. and I really don't know if everything was ok, it was a problem... where is the problem, etc. Thanks!
  18. I don't know if it was mentioned before, but sockets tend to fail (have connectivity problems) if they are to old. My first and only 600xl I got was working when I tried RF. Then installed UAV and started to fail, up to a point of black screen.. I discovered, after 2 weeks of exchanging chips around, desoldering other chips from an XE , ordering PIA in ebay, etc, that the chips were all good. But two sockets were having esporadic or no connection in two pins. I solder a jumper as a temporal fix, and the 600 xl started working again, but with weird colors. After more weeks, I found another pin in another chip (I guess gtia or antic) was also problematic. once I look at the socket with a magnifying glass I was able to see a little tiny misalignment in the problematic pin. The lesson is, check continuity between chips "shoulders" and motherboard or another chip shoulder by following the schematics. I like to print it and use highlighter to mark them.
  19. No sorry, I tougth the SD card reader and drive emulation was optional. I was interested in trying the wifi modem, and I want to boot and load software the old style. I will order a SD card reader and try it soon.
  20. Thanks for the ESP-32 Flasher... it is great. However, by having the esp32 in the SIO Bus, all communication in the bus is disrupted so I cannot boot any terminal program from my disk drive. If I turn off my drive, the esp32 device does not boot by itself. I got some noise and then the self test. I guess you need to provide the content of the the SPIFFS, I am not expert on this, but I don't think is included in the bin itself. This is the log I got: [12:02:24]E (53) SPIFFS: mount failed, -10025 [12:02:24]!LoadSettings [12:02:26]Waiting For Internet Time [12:02:26]Time Server Connected! [12:02:32]Failed to obtain time [12:02:32]Initializing SD card... [12:02:32]Card Mount Failed [12:02:33]Atari WiFi Modem Ready Thanks again
  21. So I'll need to build something like this to read data from the chip.. this is for the Willem programmer.. http://www.mpu51.com/eprom/pdf/AD-MCS48_41_SCH.zip
  22. Sorry, my bad... the bob term image I was using was configured for XM301 handler and even without the model really connected I was receiving the OKs and "no carrier"s from the that handler. So the question is: which command I have to use to program the esp32 with your firmware. I tried to just use the esptool and putting the bin in 0x00 and did not work and also tried putting some boot bin from other project, etc... So that's the question...
  23. I always have wanted one of those... But they are too expensive or in bad condition. Congrats!!
