  1. I like both the arcade and the 2600 version. the arcade version is better, but I really suck at it. I can play VCS Asteroids forever.

I love the arcade version. It's one of my favorites. The VCS version is too easy. I can play that until I get tired of it.

  2. It's possible we're not getting responses because Ms. McQuiddy a) thinks a small community of people on the web with theories that something she saw and reported on never actually happened is probably a bunch of weirdos

I admit that this has crossed my mind as well. If she does think that, she's correct of course, so what are we gonna do? ;)

  3. Based on the poor sales of E.T.

Is this based on actual sales data?

Man E.T.'s one of those carts (along with the likes of Pac-Man and Space Invaders) that I have like 80 spares of. Someone was buying them up.

Despite the fact that I do believe the story to be true (see the link in my sig), I always questioned this part too. There are elventeengodzillian E.T. carts still in circulation. If you find any Atari carts in the wild you can count on there being an E.T. or two in the lot. Atari may have overproduced E.T., but I don't think you can realisticly call it a poor seller.

  4. I installed Snakes the other day, but I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I can't seem to pass the first level no matter what I do. The instructions aren't very clear.

Took me a while too. The instructions flat out blow. For some reason the first level is the classic snakes game and all you have to do is get all the little squares. It becomes clear what to do in every level after that.

Well that's what I was trying to do at first, but the timer kept running out. Guess I just wasn't fast enough.

Check your PM by the way.

  5. Adventure is the best Atari game of all time IMO. I can almost always beat level 3 (unless it starts at the previously mentioned impossible scenario) without being eaten. Even so, I play it almost every time I turn on my 2600. I just got Atari Retro for my N-Gage, so now I can play it on the go too. :)

  6. Incidentally there are still lots of Pacman/MsPacman cabinets around.

There are still tons of Ms. Pacs around here. I still see them on location fairly often (they all have that stupid speed-up chip though). Pac-Man on the other hand seems to be all but extinct. I can't even remember te last time I saw one.

  7. The first boss in Devil May Cry 2 (big octopuss looking thing) just kicked my ass all over the place for a couple hours on Saturday. I finally gave up and put the disk back in the box. I expect I'm done with that game. I'm glad I only paid $5 for it used. It's a pity though, the game was really fun up to that point.

  8. Man, getting that #$*%ing bluetooth connection set up the first time is a royal pain the backside. Once you get it worked out though, it's pretty nifty. Now I don't even have to take my N-Gage out of my pocket to transfer files to it.

The N-Gage's bad reputaion is just completely undeserved IMO. I can't believe I waited this long to get one. This has to be the coolest gadget I've ever owned.
