  1. 59 seconds! I had to go get the camera out of the car: Am I the first to come in under a minute? Don't know if I can top this or not. All the baddies were within one screen of the jail. Gonna try to shave off a second or two if I can. -S
  2. I stand corrected. I thought Mario was the guy at the bottom of the screen. Turns out it's some guy called Stanley. Make that "Super Mario Brothers was the fourth, not first Mario game". -S
  3. Apparantly this seller has never heard of Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Donkey Kong III and Mario Bros. Super Mario Brothers is the fifth, not first Mario game. Edit: Jasoco- looks like you and I were making similar points at the same time! -S
  4. This is probably because it used a four way joystick mounted a 45 degree angle. It's pretty difficult to play with anything else IMO. -S
  5. Your best bet might be to post an ad in the marketplace tosee if someone will just swap you a three chip jr for yours. -S
  6. IMO the subway is the key to beating this game in under a minute. -S
  7. The number one trick to this game is knowing by heart where the jail, the gap (where the bridge goes) and the Daily Planet are. Once you have that down you'll really shave a lot of time off your score. Also you really need to learn to use the subway to your advantage. I still haven't gotten a chance to play (still at work), but I play this one a lot and can consitantly finish in a little over a minute so I should be in the running on this one. -S
  8. It is true that the size of arcade sticks sort of precludes their use in a handheld stick, but one of the the main problems that I have with Atari sticks is that they have to be hand held. I wanted something that can be rested on my lap so I don't have to keep a death grip on the base while I'm using it! It's the same style as the genuine Wico leaf sticks, but I belive this one is a generic (made in China) replica. I have some genuine Wico leafs, but I paid a lot more for those. I've got a set of 8 way Happs microswitch sticks on my MAME cabinet, the clicking really doesn't bother me, it's not that noticable. The cable is an old style Mac printer cable which has nine wires inside. I cut the ends off and soldered a 9 pin din connector from Radio Shack on one end. -S
  9. I belive that the wires colors are consistant at least on Atari-produced controllers. -S
  10. Tim, joystick pinouts can be found on this site's faq: I've worked this info out with a multimeter for paddles & driving controllers, but it's at home. I'll try to remember to post it after work. -S
  11. If you bought a tape deck that didn't come with the optional Klingons you got ripped off. -S
  12. I never check Thrift stores, but there are a couple of local used game shops that always have plenty of 2600 carts in stock. Given that, maybe I should check the thrifts. -S
  13. But he says they're rare. That's not good enough for you guys? -S
  14. Indeed they would. Thank you for the suggestion. -S
  15. My favorite is the one I built myself from leftover arcade parts. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...e0616cae82a75d1 -S
  16. One of my all time favorites. It was on my list to choose for next week! -S
  17. Looking for a gray power supply for my Sears heavy sixer, but so far no joy. Anyone? -S
  18. BUMP! I'm not gonna have to buy some perfectly good joysticks just to rip out the cords am I? -S
  19. I just got a Sears heavy sixer, but I still need to locate a gray power supply and possible an original controller or two. -S
  20. A breakthrough (for me anyway): 20008! I don't think I've ever managed to roll this game twice. As you can guess from my score, I freaked again when the counter rolled over. I'm not even going to try to top that one, I've been playing this game all morning. I'm ready for something else. -S
  21. I've been thinking about this, but haven't come up with anything brilliant. I think I need to take a trip to radio shack to see what they have in the way of switches and wait for inspiration to strike. -S
