MMF and Bivotar make MAME cabs (was fun w/ refund)
Stingray replied to MegaManFan's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Oh, you need a coin door for that authenic arcade goodness! Get yourself a PC with an AGP slot, buy an ArcadeVGA and a J-Pac and you've got just about everything you need to MAME that DD cab. -S -
Atari's Landfill Adventures, I now have the proof it's true.
Stingray replied to Spud's topic in Atari 2600
Looking forward to hearing about whatever info you get out of Jon Dean, Moycon! -S -
Atari's famous large 'burials' and mass dumpings

Click the link in my sig for the condensed version. -S -
I'm happy to report that I honestly think that DDR, SC5 and every other "rhythm game" blows wet chunks out of a sick rhino's rectum. -S

N-Gage: My thoughts & your suggestions.
Stingray replied to Stingray's topic in Modern Console Discussion
There seems to be a fairly high concentration of hostile teenagers on the N-Gage board. 80% of the replies seem to be written in some language that I can barely understand. Err? -S -
N-Gage: My thoughts & your suggestions.
Stingray replied to Stingray's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I saw the free Doom when I was looking at a few of the links that you posted in the other thread. I may D/L that & give it a try just because it's free. I'm not really a FPS fan. I may give the video thing a go just because I can. I don't see myself ever really being in a situation where I would find that feature particularly useful. I feel the same about UMD movies on the PSP. Are you planning on trying out the Emulators? I'm going to install EMAME for sure. I also want an NES emu, but don't know which one to go with. Is one better than the others? I noticed there were several. Is there a way for me to copy Tomb Raider onto my MMC card (or is this subject taboo?) I'm not talking about pirating, I just don't want to cary multiple cards around, I'm afraid I'll lose the one that's not in the phone because they're so tiny. -S -
Obviously you can only play joystick games. Don't expect to buy something that uses a trackball or a steering wheel and expect it to work. Swapping out JAMMA boards is only slightly more trouble than changing a cart in a home game system. -S

My N-Gage got an unexpected stress test
Stingray replied to Atarifever's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I noticed that the N-Gage QD has sort of a rubber bumper all the way around the edge. I don't know if that's just decorative or if it's meant to protect the system. Seems like it would help if you dropped it on it's edge. I have no intention of testing this theory however. -S -
The decal goo came off with no damage to the screen. I'm also pleased to report no dead pixels. Are there screen protectors available? -S

Just got an N-Gage. The game that came with it was Tony Hawk Pro Skater. I have no interest in this game so I'm hoping to trade it for something else. I'll take just about any N-Gage game in trade for it, the only other one I have is Tomb Raider. I'd also entertain cash offers or trades for non N-Gage related items, but I'd prefer an N-Gage game. The game is new & unopened. -S

After a few days of fighting Fed-Ex, my N-Gage is finally here. I'd been considering switching mobile phone services anyway (previously I was using Cricket, yes they are as bad as their reputation makes them out to be) so when I found out that you can get an N-Gage free if you sign up with T-Mobile, I was in. I'd heard that the N-Gage was not a great mobile phone. I have no idea how it got that reputation. It has about a zillion more features than my cheesy Kyocera phone that I had been using. I still have no idea how to use most of the features the N-Gage has - time to RTFM. I also get great signal in places where I used to get no signal at all. Okay, I'm willing to concede that the signal improvement may have more to do with the fact that I'm on the T-Mobile network now, but considering that the N-Gage has no external antenna, it's still very impressive. In any case, as a mobile phone it's much, much better than I had been led to believe. At the moment I only have two games for it. Tony Hawk Pro Skater came with it. I have no interest in that one, so I'll probably sell or trade it for something else. Tomb Raider is the other one. I'm kind of embarrased to admit that I have never played the first Tomb Raider. Ive played TR2 & TR:AoD, both of which I enjoyed. My first thought was that I just couldn't believe that I was playing Tomb Raider on my phone. My wife who has no interest in video games played it a bit and seemed geniunely amazed. As a game system, no it isn't a PSP or a DS, but as a cell phone, the games are just jaw dropping. This is hands down the coolest cell phone I've ever used. After browsing online for the last few days I'm blown away by the huge amount of downloadable content that's available. I ordered a bluetooth dongle and a 512 mb MMC card for it yesterday. Hopefully by next week I'll be loading that card up with games & emulators. #1 on my list is MAME. Yes, I have a MAME cabinet, but try as I might, I can't get it to fit into my pocket. The 3D snakes game (name escapes me at the moment) is also high up there. So my question for you guys who already have one, as far as the downloadable games go, what's the good stuff? What should be avoided? Best of all, what's free? Any tips or suggestions anyone has regarding my new little toy are very welcome! -S

Found a Bluetooth adapter on ebay for $20, also got a 512mb MMC for $30. Both are new items. -S
-
Well guess what just got here. I'm just about to leave for the day. So much for charging it up before I leave. Guess I'll play with it at home. Edit: Oh and than you so much T-Mobile, for putting the "unlimited internet" advertising decal right on the screen! -S

Grrr. Fedex guy came & went while I was at lunch today. No packages for me. The cheapest price that I've found on MMC cards so far was newegg.com. They only ship via Fedex, for obvious reasons, I'm looking to buy elsewhere. -S
-
Well there goes my interest. The PSP is already overpriced, and I'd certainly rather have one of those than a Gizmondo. -S
-
What does one of these cost, and as someone else asked, is there a US release date yet? -S
-
I'm no expert, but I suspect you'd generate a bit more interest in this thread if you at the very least divulged what emulator you are trying to run, what you are trying to run it on, and the exact nature of the problem you are experiencing. -S

About Atari License Plate... feedback?
Stingray replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Oklahoma- only one plate (rear of vehicle) required. I have a British plate in the front on my car. -S -
Yeah, that's what I was curious about. My GBA SP said specifically in the manual to let it charge for 3 hours the first time you charge it. My Kyocera phone said 12 hours. Mostly I'm just wondering (assuming it actually arrives today) if I will have enough time to fully charge it at work or if I should just wait until I get home & let it charge overnight. -S

First Real Xbox 2 Picts are out! Aka 360
Stingray replied to jeepnut24's topic in Modern Console Discussion
If someone figures out a way to run OS X on it, I may actually buy one. -S -
Okay, just on the off chance that my N-Gage should actually arrive today, I'm curious. How long does it have to stay on the charger before the battery is fully charged? I downloaded the PDF manual, but I didn't find that info in it. -S
-
Well I'm hardly a great judge, since I've only played one in each series. However, the Zelda game I played all the way through. The FF game I played for about half an hour and never took it out of the box again. -S
-
Fair enough. How in the world did Fed-Ex become one of the world leaders in the package delivery industry. Are they this bad everywhere or just in my area? -S
-
Getting excited about this! -S

I bought one at Goodwill last month for $1.95. Keep it as a spare. 844816[/snapback] That's about what I paid for mine at a local thrift. I see them pretty often priced similarly. -S
