Ground Kontrol To Host Star Wars Record Attempt
Stingray replied to El Destructo's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I don't think I could even remain concious for three days straight, much less do anything that requires concentration. May the force be with him. -S -
IMO, Jak II was ruined by the fact that Jak talked in it. I'd hate to see the same happen to Link. -S

Really? Even the two lame games on my cheesy Kyocera phone have sound. I ordered an N-Gage QD late last week, but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm looking forward to owning a phone that has some games that are actually worth playing. Snakes Outbreak is high on my list to download as soon as I pick up a memory card. -S

Good to know that the cheapies work with Mac, since that's what I use at home. -S
-
Good to know the adapter is available at Radio Shack. I guess I'd better start looking now for a memory card. I just got a tracking number for my order. It's supposed to get here Tuesday, but it's being delivered by Fedex. This means that on Tuesday the driver will make no attempt to find my address, it will be sent back to the Fedex warehouse, and I'll have to waste my lunch hour on Wednesday going to pick it up. The Fedex driver in my area sucks. -S

I had no idea that there were so many downloadable games & emulators for this system. I'm gonna need to get a bluetooth adapter and a large memory card ASAP. Anyone have a good, cheap source for these items? -S
-
Good to hear the prices are coming down! Looks like I got into this at the right time. Tony Hawk comes with the package I'm getting from T-Mobile. I also bined a sealed Tomb Raider on ebay for $8 (US). -S
-
Just been browsing through ebay. There doesn't seem to be a huge selection there. The same three games are listed about 10 or 20 times each. Do you have any other sources for cheap games? -S

I love 2D platformers so that still leaves Pandemonium high on my list, Rayman as well. I'm not a fan of FPS titles so I'll probably give Ghost Recon a miss. Thanks for the heads up on Monkey Ball, I was considering that one. Am I correct in that there's no way to connect to your PC other than Bluetooth? I'll have to get an adapter if so. -S

I just found out that you can get a free Ngage QD for signing up with T-Mobile. Been meaning to change my cel provider anyway so I ordered one. What are the best games for this system? Pandamonium looks pretty good. Thinking about that one. -S

Oh and the BYOAC board has an artwork section. You should check it out, there are a lot talented artists there who have done a very impressive amount of arcade related artwork. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/board,13.0.html -S

http://www.classicarcadegraphics.com Fantastic quality printwork. They can make any size marquee you need and can do custom printing from your artwork. http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/ Quite a bit of classic and custom arcade artwork available for free download here. -S

MMF and Bivotar make MAME cabs (was fun w/ refund)
Stingray replied to MegaManFan's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Best bet would be buying from someone you know & trust, which would mean buying from another AA member is always the best option. I own three arcade machines. One I converted to MAME myself from a gutted cab. The other two I bought fully funtional from AA members. Where are you located. I was amazed at how many people with 100 miles of me there are on this and a couple of other gaming boards I frequent. Obviously you're well aware that paying to having an arcade machine or a pin shipped will eat a huge chunk of your budget. Best bet is to find one locally. If you're able to find an AAer nearby who's into arcade stuff, he's probably also got a truck or an SUV that he hauls around games in. If not, renting a Uhaul is always an option, and not at all expensive. If you think doing the conversion is something that you won't enjoy, then you shouldn't even go there. Very likely the project will get abandoned before you finish it. You may be able to find someone locally who's willing to convert one for you, or even have a pre-built MAME cab for sale. You never know until you start looking. This is a tough call and really depends on your personal taste. I have a MAME cab, a dedicated Space Invaders and a NEO-GEO. If I had to get rid of all but one of them I'd probably have to keep the Space Invaders despite the fact that it only plays one game and the other two are capable of playing many different games. Space Invaders is just kind of special to me since it's the first arcade game I ever remember playing as a kid, and I absolutely loved it. You might consider getting a newer JAMMA cab, since you can swap the game boards out inside with relative ease. That way you're only limed by what boards you have on hand. A lot of the older non-JAMMA classics have adapters available now to allow you to plug them into a JAMMA harness. Again, I think this is a good argument for not trying to convert a cab to MAME yourself. Will this hurt you in the long run? Maybe. If something goes wrong you always save a lot of money of you can fix it yourself, doesn't matter if we're talking about video games, cars or dishwashers. You may be amazed at how many problems you are able to fix once you get past the mindset that you can't do it. In any case, good luck with the search. Hope you find yourself a fun toy! -S -
Is the x-box souless? well lets get your ideas
Stingray replied to sega saturn x's topic in Modern Console Discussion
LOL! Agreed! -S -
Could have done without this tidbit. I was just in the public restroom here at work, which has an autoflush. I turned and ran before it had a chance to flush, much to the suprise of the person who was walking in at the time. -S

Mercury has finally arrived! (PSP)
Stingray replied to MegaManFan's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I remember hearing rumors that there would be a special Mercury add-on that would allow you to control the game by tilting the PSP. Has this materialized yet or was that just a rumor? -S -
Atari's Landfill Adventures, I now have the proof it's true.
Stingray replied to Spud's topic in Atari 2600
This was over a week ago. Still no response. -S -
Congrats on sparking a little local interest in this. Maybe someone in the area will actually take the initiative and go try to dig some carts up. Added that article to the growing landfill page I've been compiling. -S
-
This may actually push me over the top for getting a DS. -S
-
Looks to me like the guy was just holding the cart on the back of the DS and gave it a flick. -S

How To Play Video Games: The 1976 Ways.
Stingray replied to Atariboy2600's topic in Dedicated Systems
I actually still own an astonishingly large number of 8 tracks myself, so you're not alone in that respect. -S -
NOT MINE. Tulsa area buyers... Atari Kiosk!
Stingray replied to EricDeLee's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Gonna have to drive over there at lunch and take a peek at it. Thanks for the heads up. -S -
^^^This is the smartest thing I've read here recently. First time I've ever been accused of that. -S

Please welcome V's latest addition to the household...

IMO, Omega Race is one of the greatest games of the classic era. Very nice find and color me jealous. -S -
Atari's Landfill Adventures, I now have the proof it's true.
Stingray replied to Spud's topic in Atari 2600
I tried to call again today, but again got the answering machine. Your turn Stingray. I don't want to spook her calling everyday. Maybe send a stamp addressed envelope with it or something to make one less reason for not replying. Sent a letter today. I very politely & briefly explained who and what we're looking for and why. I included the URL for this thread and the URL for the page on my site where I'v been compling the data. I gave my home phone number, my cell phone number, my email address, and a self addressed stamped envelope so there's no reason for this person not to reply even if it's not the M.E. McQuiddy we're looking for. I'm in Oklahoma, so it should only take a letter a couple of days to reach El Paso. -S
