1. Sounds like as good an excuse as any to buy a PS2. -S
2. X-Box or PS2? Here's what it really comes down to, would you rather play Halo or Gran Turismo? The rest will slot into place. -S
3. Mine has an intermittent power problem Only happens now & then, but it's certainly worth checking to see if a cold solder joint is the problem. I may do that this weekend. Thanks for the tip. -S
4. I did. Two of them as a matter of fact. And on topic, I just got my first Gamecube, although I don't have it in my posession yet. Can't wait to get it, it's the only Nintendo system that I've never played. -S
5. Pretty darn cool M4 Sherman 919504 Thanks. Any news Joey? The fuse thing seems promising. If the upright has one that controls the sound & marquee light, it's possible that the cocktail has one that controls the sound and the lights above the control panels. Do those lights work on this machine? If not that could be evidence of that fuse being blown. Note that this is all speculation at this point, but if I think about it after work, I'll pull that fuse on mine and see if it makes the lights & sound go out. -S
6. The sounds all reside on their own sound chips so sometimes one or two might fail. Never heard of all of them going though. Could be something as easy as a speaker ground. I have a Space Invaders cocktail, so if you need any detailed pictures of the inside, let me know what you need a shot of. I've already got some pics of the insides here if it's of any help: http://www.stingraysmadness.com/index.php?...PAGER_section=1
7. Just stumbled across this when searching for something else today: http://www.excellentcom.net/multi.asp 39 in one is $320 there. -S
8. As long as we aren't talking about Metal Slug, Blazing Star and the two King of the Monsters games are probably my favorites. -S
9. Seems like I've seen them in the $300 range. You can convert an old Jamma cab to MAME for the same or less money and play a lot more games. -S
10. Mr Do certainly sounds like it could be an easy fix. Could be something else in addition to the cord of course. Still, I'd take the gamble if it were me. -S
11. MS5 is pretty short (you can finish it in an hour if you're determined) but it's still a heap of fun. -S
12. My ground penetrating radar is broken. The gerbil died. -S
13. If you're into vintage game systems (and if you aren't you wouldn't be here) you need to buy a Vectrex as quickly as possible. It is well and truly the coolest home game system ever. On the subject of homebrews, check out Vectrex Thrust. -S
14. That's exactly why I haven't joined any N-Gage forums. Nobody there knows decent grammar, spelling, or capitalization. I'm sorry, but the letter "u" is not a replacement for the word "you". It makes me want to reach through the computer screen and smack those kids with an English textbook. And, really, how hard is it to use a shift key? Sorry, but as a guy that was raised by a schoolteacher mother, that kind of thing really grates on my nerves. Sorry about the rant. 897884 Agreed on all counts. The N-Gage forums are full of twit kids and "English are language second of me" types. Those forums are all but useless. The only thing they are good for is the fact that they do indeed have a lot of faqs up and you can usually find what you need by reading them. -S
15. You can turn off the backlight timeout if you have "Super Profiles" installed. I can't find a setting for it with the standard "Profiles" app. -S
16. Agreed. The flagship of my collection is my original B&W Space Invaders cocktail. It would take a lot more than the market says it's worth to get me to turn loose of it. -S
17. I haven't done the math, but I expect the budget MAME setup would cost less. I still think a nice Defender cab would be pretty slick with a Multi-Williams in it. -S
18. Worst case scenario you can sand it down & repaint it. The graphics aren't overly complex, you should be able to mask them with frisket paper and re-stencil them. Chad's right, any arcade guy will know it's a Defender even without the side art. It will look lovely if you restore it to it's correct appearance, and it will look like a ruined Defender cab if you do anything else to it. You may want to consider a multi-Williams board instead of Mame for this machine. -S
19. mumble mutter mumble young punks mutter mumble... -S
20. Adventure II is going to be on the FB 2.0? Very cool! I'll buy one for that reason alone. -S
21. Jesus, thanks for making me feel like a fossil! I was 27 in 1997. -S
22. My first video game was a Coleco Telstar. Tennis, squash & hockey was what the box said, but Pong was what it was. Mine was also in 1976 if memory serves. Mine was one of these: I still have one, but sadly it isn't the same one I had as a kid. -S
23. Since Adventure II isn't available yet, it's disqualified from my list, but I'll definitely get it when it comes out. Man Goes Down (or whatever it's called upon release) looks like it's going to be very good as well. Right now my current favorite homebrews are Thrust and Protectors/YASI for the Vectrex. -S
