thinking about getting an 80's computer
Stingray replied to AlexKIDD's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'll throw in a vote for the Apple II. I have IIe, a IIGS, and a IIC. If I could only have one I'd probably keep the GS, as it has a better display and far better graphic capabilities. It can run just about all of the software designed for the earlier A2 computers as well. If you end up buying one that's missing any accessories, PM me, I probably have what you're missing. -S -
Nintendo's Vitrual Boy...What does everyone think?
Stingray replied to vgcollector666's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Right. The word 'virtual' in the name coupled with the goggle-like display was clearly intended to lead the consumer to believe that it would be a much more immersive VR experience than it actually was. Many, like myself at the time, were dissapointed when we expected something mind blowing, but ended up getting 3D that was pretty neat but certainly not incredible or revolutionary. In any case, this thread has somewhat rekindled my interest in getting a VB and giving it another go. -S -
I've had stuff printed there in the past. They do very nice work. -S

Oh, I'm not actually printing anything. After it's finished, it will be available to download. You can then download it and get a place like classicarcadegrafix.com to print it for you. Anyway, I hope you can use it. -S

This is a no brainer. Keep both. I have both and would not turn loose of either. -S

Thanks Chad. -S

Nintendo's Vitrual Boy...What does everyone think?
Stingray replied to vgcollector666's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Its not supposed to be "virtual reality" like you see in the arcades. Its a console with a headset to keep you immersed in the game. 890178 True, but the name would suggest to most people that virtual reality was in fact what it was supposed to be. I know I was hugely dissapointed the first (and only) time I played one - display model in a store when they were new. Maybe one of these days I'll pick one up and give it another shot with a more open mind. -S -
First Conviction for Console Modding
Stingray replied to DominiRican05's topic in Classic Console Discussion
There's an electronics place right down the street from where I work that advertises that they mod X-Box & PS2. I'm pretty sure that doing the mod is legal here, it's just using it to pirate the software that's illegal. I don't believe that the store sells pirated software of any kind, at least not openly. -S -
I don't see anyone who posted here who disagrees with you. Reading comprehension issues perhaps? -S

What a coincidence. Over at the BYOAC forum, another user and myself just finished recreating the artwork for the back of the sit down Roadblasters cabinet. I'm not sure if he's finished putting the parts that I did together with the parts that he did, but I'm sure he'll finish it in a few days at the most. You might want to check this thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=38733.0 -S

Joining the pieces with no exposed metal and having the joints be strong is non-trivial. I would not pay the quoted prices, but if the quality of worksmanship is good they are not totally out of line (aside from the fact that, compared to other things, quality woodwork costs a lot more today than 100 year ago). 889446 I agree that it probably costs more to produce these than most people here seem to think, but their prices are still stupid high. -S

I have a network adapter, but I've never even bothered to plug a cable into it, much less configure & use it. I'm not even sure if I have any online capable games. -S

Excellent looking collection! I'm very jealous. -S

Saw An Old Flim-Flam Pong Variation - For Sale $10
Stingray replied to Atari Rescue Group's topic in Arcade and Pinball
I don't believe that there is a complete arcade game in the world that I would pass on for $10. -S -
If you have a Vectrex, the homebrew Moon Lander is a very good tribute to Lunar Lander and of course it's vector. -S

Oooh, this sounds neat! Keep us informed on what's happening with development. -S

The QD does not have a USB connection. It does have built in bluetooth and you can always get a card reader, which as I stated is a lot easier to work with than bluetooth. Either way I wouldn't consider the lack of a USB plug to be an issue. I have no problem getting files on and off my QD and I do it with both a Windows PC and a Macintosh. -S

Let us know when they're available. I have paypal locked & loaded. -S

Most Symbian games are pay, but there are some freebies out there too. You can assign different ringtones, thumbnail pictures, and voice tags to the people in your contact list. The next version of the Ngage is rumored to have a camera, but no HD. You can get 1 gb cards, which hold a lot more than you think. Get a card reader, bluetooth is kind of neat, but it's really more trouble than it's worth. Much easier to just remove the card & stick it in a reader. -S

I have not, but thank you for the tip. -S

I have one and I love it. I don't have any emulators on mine, but I have ton of N-Gage and Symbian OS games on it. There are a lot of great games available for it. It works great as a full featured cell phone too. You can make your own ringtones. All of the ones I have on mine are wav format, but you may be able to use MP3 too, I've never tried that. In any case you can convert any sound file to wav and I know it will work. The Star Wars Imperial March is my current ringtone. -S
