Good deal. You'll be dropping your beef again before you know it. -S

Bummer, hope you manage to round one up. That's one of my faves too. -S

They'd be very cool as display pieces, but yes they do look pretty worthless for actual use. -S

Taking this tread back on topic. I just got my first batch of Vectrex homebrews and am very happy with what I've got. Protector/ Y*A*S*I Both games are very impressive. Protector is every bit as hard as Defender was in the arcades. Very tough, but very fun. I'll get a lot of mileage out of this one. Y*A*S*I is absolutely amazing considering that it's on a Vectrex. I own an actual arcade Space Invaders and I was just blown away at how close the graphics look to the real thing. The sound isn't even close, but I suspect that's a limitation of the Vec's sound chip. Overall it's a great Space Invaders translation. Alex Herbert did an outstanding job on this cart, even the credits are a joy to watch. Rockaroids Remix Okay, this game is hard. I mean really hard. Really, really hard. Looks nice, but man it kicks my ass. Moon Lander Lunar Lander was always one of my favorite black & white vector arcade games so I was thrilled to see a homebrew version. The graphics look good, the control feel right, and it's got great gameplay. Thrust I saved the best for last. If you own a Vectrex and you don't own this game you're doing yourself a serious diservice. I know that Thrust was originally a Commodore 64 game, but if I didn't, I could easily mistake this for another vector arcade classic remake. This game really has the look & feel of one of those great vector classics. This is a rare case of the remake being better than the original. I expect this one to have great replay value, I put a few hours in on it last night and all I wanted was to play it some more. Kudos to Ville Krumlinde, the author of this game. Very, very well done. Also I would be remiss if I didn't thank Mark Shaker for making these games available at his cost. Despite the fact that Vectrex cases are currently not available (although that's going to change soon apparantly) he still makes the games available using modified INTV cases, and because of this he charges $2 less per game! What a great service he does for Vectrex enthusiasts. Thanks a lot Mark! -S

The Worst Features of Yard Sales and Flea Markets
Stingray replied to Great Hierophant's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I really don't see what the big deal is. I rarely go to yard sales or to flea markets, but when I do it ususally goes about the same way. Take a quick glance at what they have, see something I like buy it & exchance a couple minutes of chit chat with a stranger. Don't see anything worth picking up, say hi to the folks behind the table, maybe toss in a good luck wish, and move on. I don't see anything there that's in any way traumatic. -S -
Drat. -S

Anyone else like Omikron: Nomad Soul?
Stingray replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I don't think I ever finished it, but it was a really fun game as I recall. I probably won't get the new X-Box so I do hope it gets ported to the PS3 or the Revolution. -S -
Flashback 2.0 shown at OVGE
Stingray replied to SteveW's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
As already stated, it'n not emulation, it's real hardware. Unless I'm dreaming or something, I'm pretty sure that I saw Pitfall on the game list. -S -
You should post a for sale/ trade ad in the marketplace forum. -S

Anyone got a spare beater Vectrex console with a good tube?
Stingray replied to landsmarra's topic in Vectrex
No, it's cool. The same guy I bought the Vectrex from was the guy who had those for sale, I decided to just buy the system and Bedlam at the show. Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you there. -S -
Sending you a PM. -S

One of these days I need to pick up the voice module. -S

Why is the real hardware better than emulation?
Stingray replied to Flojomojo's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Did you notice any artifact or any other problem in the modern TV that didn't happen in the old tv? 879737[/snapback] Oh no, I wasn't trying to imply anything like that. I just used a little TV with woodgrain on it for my video games when I was a kid. It's just a personal preference thing. I expect that people who had thier first console hooked up to a big screen TV would think they look totally wrong on my little retrovision. -S -
That's my number one problem with this controller. It's next to impossible to hit the direction you want when you want to hit it. -S

Well it's been a very long time since I played it. I don't remember what the confusion was, just that I didn't understand what I was supposed to do. Like I said, I don't have the instructions. I was kind of hoping someone would give me a quick run down on it. And for the record, I'm a rabid Donkey Kong fan. I like the O2 quite a lot, I just feel like it doesn't have a huge number of first rate games. It does have a lot of neat features that you don't see on other consoles of it's generation. One of my favorite memories of playing the O2 as a kid were of my friend and I playing KC Munchkin. We had as much fun setting up our own mazes as we had actually playing the game. -S

I have a pair of them, but honestly I can't stand them. I think they're possibly the clunkiest controller ever for the NES... well not including the power glove. -S

Even a stopped watch is right twice a day. -S

Atari Flashback up for some competition?
Stingray replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Very neat, but a little pricey for me. Hoping the price comes down some. Edit: I also just noticed that it doesn't ship until September. -S -
Thanks for the info. I'm actually still considering building a controller myself, but only because I enjoy tinkering with stuff, and I have a box of arcade sticks that I'm not using. I may pick one of the adapters up anyway. -S

I never owned a 5200, but back in the late '70's & early '80s new 2600 carts were mostly $20 at my local Wal-Mart. A few of the better titles were $25ish. -S
-
Pretty much the same reason why I bought one. A friend of mine had one when I was a kid. I always thought his was neat. -S
-
I don't have the instructions, being that I played it on the multicart. I could never figure out what the heck I was supposed to be doing. -S
