Why is the real hardware better than emulation?
Stingray replied to Flojomojo's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Actually in order to keep the experience as authentic as possible, I prefer to hook my classic systems up to a little woodgrain 13 inch TV that I have in my gameroom rather than to the big TV in the living room. -S -
Why is the real hardware better than emulation?

It's more fun because it's the real hardware. Maybe I don't understand the question. -S -
Got a VCS for xmas in 1977. Haven't looked back since. -S

Seems like it was that type of controller, but I don't know if it was that exact one or not. You may have better luck searching for that thread than I did. -S

I think the K.C. games are great fun. If you get one, just buy the multicart. It's a pretty neat system, but IMO, it's not really worth chasing down the original carts. -S

On that subject Chad, does the PSX controller adapter work with both the analog stick and the digital dpad? Does a PS2 controller work with it too or does it have to be an original PSX controller? Still haven't decided it I want to plunk down $45 for the adapter, but I most likely will. -S

Yesterday I came across a post where someone had fixed a Vectrex controller by removing the stick (entire assembly, not just the stick itself) from another classic controller and it just screwed right in where the Vectrex stick used to be. I can't for the life of me remember where that post was and I can't seem to find it again. I'm thinking it may have been a Tandy or a Radio Shack controller that was the stick donor. I can never find anything with the new forum's search function. -S

Flashback 2.0 shown at OVGE
Stingray replied to SteveW's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I agree with Lord Helmet, it felt just like a real 2600 stick to me. -S -
Oh. Well I guess if sending in a case is the only way I can get one I'd still do it. -S
-
Not a problem. I have a few dead INTV carts that could be donated to the cause. -S

I'm 100% certain that I can do the required mods to an INTV case in order to make it fit. I'm also willing to state here publicly that I won't hold you resposible for any damage that I might do to the PCB. Edit: I'd also be willing to send you an empty case if that's the only way you'll sell it to me, but I feel it's only fair to let you know that as soon as I get it back I'll put the original game back in it's case and adapt an INTV case to fit the VecFlash. -S
-
I'd be more than happy to buy one without a case. If you'll sell one that way please PM me or shoot me an email. -S

My wife had something else she had to do that day so I was unsupervised. Not something that can be easy on the wallet at show of this kind. -S

It's a good thing I was driving the Mini and not my truck or I might have asked that question at the show and gotten myself into trouble. -S

So just out of curiosity, how much were they asking for the Star Wars? -S

Welcome to the forum Necro C. -S

Oooh, you were the lucky one to take that Dreamcast kiosk home! Very nice, I admired it about a zillion times during the day. I managed to buy a Vectrex, probably paid a little too much for it, but I've wanted one for a very long time, so I was willing to shell out for it. I also bought VCS Kool-Aid Man & Flash Gordon from MegaManFan and I bought a huge handfull of those classic game buttons from the AtariAge table. -S

Mark at Vectrexcarts.com is also out of cases. He's now using modified INTV cases instead. It certainly would be nice if Mr. Kelly would relenquish control of the molds to someone who would actually produce cases, but his reputation would suggest that he's not the type who would likely do such a thing. -S

I got a chance to try out the demo at OVGE. I'm very excited about this one. I don't even own a 5200, but I'll buy one when this game becomes available. -S
-
Very encouraging! -S

Please accept my apologies. Being new to Vectrex collecting I was under the impression that the standard edition was no longer available and that this new limited edition was my only option for aquiring a copy of I,Cyborg. The standard edition is more than adequate to make me happy. I have just placed an order and submitted payment to your paypal address. -S

The VecFlash cart seems to no longer be available, unless you know of a source that I don't. -S
-
Well there are always people like myself who are willing to pay money for stuff like this. I guess I just don't understand why it would be limited to only ten, when those ten sell out in a couple of days. -S
