  1. Wow, I've been so busy lately that this kind of crept up on me. I was planning on going fishing because I'd totally forgotten about this show. Forget fishing, I'll be headed to OVGE! Hope to see some of you guys there.

Also, just a heads up! I have to redo the map on the location page of the website. The City of Tulsa is currently working on I-75 and actually have the exit for 71st street blocked off. It will be blocked for at least a year! Anyway, I have to make a new map that will have the detour routes on it to take. It isn't that big a deal really...just have to take either the 81st street exit of coming from the South or have to take the 61st street exit if coming from the North. Then you either turn right or left on Riverside drive to get to 71st that way.

It also worth mentioning that if you're coming into Tulsa on I-44, you can take the Riverside exit. Take Riverside Drive south two mile to 71st, take a left and you're there.

Oh and highway 75 is a state highway, not an interstate, just to avoid any confusion.

  2. I have seen some of that style cabinet that uses a sticker for a coin door. There is just a sheet of wood, and a coin sticker. Anybody else ever seen that? Wierd.

I've seen those too. I presume they're meant for home use, but who wouldn't want a real coin door? It's not like it adds that much to the overall cost. IMO, you aren't playing arcade video games unless you have to pump in quarters or tokens.

  3. You could always take the board out of an old Coleco Telstar or some other low-end stand alone home pong console to use in a bartop. There are still lots of those around in the sub $10 range.

  4. I asked, when Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was coming out for the NGage, if I could pre-order it.  The employee I got (the manager) said "No, don't worry, we'll get it in".  They never did, and I was cheated out of quite possibly the best gaming experience for the N-Gage.

FYI, if you don't already have it, get it. It's hands down my favorite N-Gage title.

  5. Sadly, the MAME port is pretty cruddy, at least on the few games that I tried on it.

Is it just slow or cruddy in general? Can you run older games like Pac-man, Donkey Kong at a decent speed?

Slow, even with the classics. I tried Dig Dug, Galaga, & Mr. Do. All were very choppy. I didn't bother loading any more roms.

  6.

This doesn't make me feel confident about my new midway space invaders project (upright) I have a few problems right now, such as no sound...

If at any point during this repair you happen to learn which sound chip does what I'd greatly appreciate the info. It's out there for the Taito board, but I can't find it for the Midway board. I need to know which one controls the "Mystery UFO" sound. Mine works right sometimes, others it just produces a high pitched whine.

Every time I bring this problem up on a forum someone inevitably wants to link me to the Taito manual, so I'll say once more this is a Midway machine.

  7. Baby Pac-Man. Sadly I haven't had the opportunity to play one in years. First time I saw one I thought that combining Pac-Man with pinball was just the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I'd love to add one to my collection, but it seems like the odds against me actually finding one for sale at a time when I actually have that kind of money to spend are pretty long.

  8. Oh, yikes! That's quite a lot more than I had in mind. I just wanted it for the novelty factor. Send you a PM anyway. :)

I know you have a Neo Geo cab and a SI cocktail and of course your MAME cab - you have a Jamma cab too? How do you get any housework done? ;)

In fact I do not currently have a JAMMA cab (unless you count the NEO-GEO), but I have a spot reserved for one. :)
