  1. Somebody will buy it. Off topic, but what is your avatar image? It's sparking vague memories in my much abused brain cells. -S
  2. I can't wait to get my hands on this one! My wife is not into video games and with the competion from my MAME cab and various other consoles it's hard to get a guest interested in playing Combat. I really look forward to a one player version. -S
  3. Which of course brings to mind the George Costanza answering machine message: Belive it or not George isn't at home. Leave a message at the beep. Where could I be? Belive it or not, I'm not home. -S
  4. I've been told that the X-Arcade sticks are not real high quality. This is coming from people at the Build Your Own Arcade Controls forum though. Most of the members there (myself included) tend to be super picky about controls. Bear in mind that these are eight way microswitch sticks. Pac-Man and many other classics used four way leaf switch sticks, which have an entirely different feel. Many people find playing four way games to be frustrating with an eight way stick. My MAME cab has a dedicated four way stick. If you think you'll be playing a lot of four way games you might consider replacing the X-Arcade stick with a switchable four way/ eight way stick. I can highly recomend the Omnistick Prodigy, but it woudn't fit in an X-Arcade box without modification to either the box or the stick. -S
  5. I'm interested too, but like Xot just can't justify it at the moment (been spending too much on classic game stuff recently). -S
  6. Well having just gotten into 7800, I don't have any of those games. I guess I'll wait and see what's chosen next week. -S
  7. This stuff was delivered yesterday. I had a blast playing all of these games I never got a chance to play when they were new. Dark Caverns quickly became a favorite. I'm amazed at how good everything looks. It's all like new. I'm quite pleased with the start of my 7800 collection. I paid $50 for the lot, which seems a great deal once I saw the condition. -S
  8. I think I was one of the eight or nine people in the world who actually liked that show. -S
  9. Nothing beats the pure goodness of a woodgrain VCS and an ice cold Shiner Bock. -S
  10. Therein lies the rub. I'm more the fast and reckless type Well that will get it off the board too. -S
  11. Well I know Macs and understand Macs so that's what I used. Once the games are running you can't tell what OS is lurking under the surface. Glad you enjoyed my site. -S
  12. It's an interesting item regardless of whether it's vintage or not. Anyone know what the small switch on the top does? -S
  13. My friends are generally far more impressed by my MAME cab than my old consoles. However, invariably someone will ask if I have a specific game. -S
  14. They're a neat controller, but I agree with Mindfield's assessment, they are pretty awful to actually use. I didn't know they were sold in a a separate box though. I thought the only way they were sold was as a pack in with a Gemini. -S
  15. I'm suprised, but pleasantly so, that I was the only one to bid on that INTV lot. -S
  16. Might be safer to use a dremel with a small grinding bit to grind the top off the rivet, then you could pull it free. Whether you use a drill or a rivet it's certainly possible as long as you go slow and are careful. -S
  17. I was under the impression that since they are both sitting in front of it, it should be a two player game which is why I chose Combat. -S
  18. My friend who lived across the street from me had an Odyssey II, I had a VCS. I used to kind of give him a hard time because I would get a new game about once a month and he couldn't even find a place that sold games for his system. Still the ones that he did have were much better than most of my Atari games. K.C. Munchkin vs Pac-Man for example. To this day his remains the only Odyssey II that I've ever seen in person. -S
  19. Unfortunatly for me I was one of the many who already owned an NES by the time I first saw a 7800 in the stores, so I never owned one until just recently. However, whenever I think of 7800 I think of all of those great looking arcade ports that were available for that system. -S
  20. A "desoildering" iron will only cost you about $10 at Radio Shack. Practice on a junk PCB a little. You'll probably be suprised at how easy this tool makes the job. -S
  21. I think he means the plastic button is missing but the switch itself is still functional. -S
